Teachers of All Kinds - My Dad

(edited)
My dad was a decathlon teacher who taught us every subject in life.

Dad was walking down the trail with me that day. In a dream, he told me that I never traveled with you, and it would be cool if I had the chance. he said with a smile.

Years ago, I didn't really show my love to my dad, I realized I was just defending my self-esteem, I felt like I couldn't express love and care, and I failed every time.

I actually lack wisdom. Maybe I'm just not easily approachable, maybe I don't want to get hurt because it's going to take a long time to recover from that. Therefore, it is a very difficult subject to express love for loving father or love for others.

Until a certain trip, I met a spiritual teacher. I am very grateful to fate for allowing me to meet this mentor. She taught me many valuable life lessons:

Satisfaction and joy don't depend on how much or how many we have, or on what kind/type we have, but on how we make use of or appreciate them in the best way we know. The key is to find out the small things that they like and give them. Satisfaction and joy do not depend on how much we have, but on how we appreciate and appreciate them in the best/most appropriate way. The point is that you can do it by finding out their favorite little things and gifting them in person.

(These little things can be physical or spiritual, such as companionship.)

The moment when you love the person, you are ready to be hurt. However, you just need to give your time, also give your love. Be prepared to accept the loss and trauma, because no one will stay by your side forever, birth, aging, illness and death are life issues that everyone cannot escape. But all you need is to give your time, and at the same time give your love.

So I gave myself a chance to open my heart again... slowly. When I hugged my dad for the first time, I could tell he was a little surprised, and then he looked at me and said nothing... I said, nothing, just wanted to hug you.

My dad was, in a way, a father and mother. At the same time, my dad is also an all-around teacher who can teach every subject in life.

He is my carpenter.

I love playing basketball. When I was a kid, I stayed next to him one day and watched him make magic things for me. He nailed a basketball hoop with a backboard in front of the garage so I could play basketball anytime. My neighbors all come to me and want to play basketball with me. I'm so proud of Dad's finished woodwork.

He is my hair stylist.

I always cut my hair at home. I've been a girl with short hair since I can remember as a child. My sisters all have beautiful ponytails.

He is my Santa Claus.

Dad would take us to choose gifts during Chinese New Year, and I usually choose the remote control car. I remember he told me I was really like a boy.

He is my coach and he is my swimming teacher.

He took me to buy baseball and basketball. He also taught me to swim.

I remember the first time I swam, I jumped into the water and took a deep breath, so a lot of water got into my nose and eyes. What a silly girl. Then, I cried and told myself that I wasn't ready to die. At that time, I was very afraid of swimming. He said I won't let you drown, trust me. Well, put on your goggles and grab the float. We go into the water. He once said that in order to swim proficiently, it is important to learn how to breathe properly. So don't rush to the next stage until you have learned the basics of controlling your breathing.

Slowly, I stopped being afraid of water, because I know that the more I relax in the water, the better I can swim. He taught me proper breathing and then breaststroke. After that, I studied freestyle and diving at school.

I like water and swimming very much. Thank you for always being my rock, Papa.

It's swimming time for my brother and dad. My brother used to have swimming lessons when he was still in special education school. I can actually sense that my brother is afraid of water because it is a touch he is not familiar with. The ice is cold, unable to stand on its own, and the little feet can't touch the ground. But at the same time, he is also very happy to participate in swimming lessons because he is accompanied by his father. The younger brother usually expresses his happiness and gratitude by laughing and screaming. That's right! His screams were very, very loud. Hahaha... Thanks to my sister for the family trip that year, everyone in the hotel swimming pool or bathing pool can hear the cheers of my brother. Sometimes he would laugh uncontrollably, and that angelic smile was so beautiful on my dad's and my brother's faces.

He's my banking advisor

I finish my degree. He provided me with school education fees.

As a kid, he would give me pocket money to buy cookies and my favorite things.

I remember when I was 15, he took me to a sneaker store to pick out shoes. Yes, Dad bought me a pair of basketball shoes, my first pair of Michael Jordan basketball shoes. I'm really happy, but I know it's expensive. It's expensive but worth it, he said.

he is a singer

Dad likes to sing and karaoke at home. According to the Japanese Health Survey, singing increases one's own well-being and keeps one from aging.

Dad always sang Taiwanese songs and I think he is the best singer in our family. But I didn't know he had this talent until later, so I realized that Dad was silently teaching us life lessons about humility. I don't speak Taiwanese very well. We usually speak Mandarin when we speak at home, so I actually learned some Taiwanese pronunciation through songs because he would correct me.

I used to sing this song to my dad, even though my singing pitch and Taiwanese pronunciation weren't very good. This is a song about grandma. The title of the song is: Grandma's Words.

We all miss her, she was the best grandma and I miss her smile.

He is my comfort zone.

In fact, the two of us didn't talk much, although there was often silence around us. Even when we didn't talk, I was happy to be around him and felt comfortable.

He reminds me of my childhood,

When I was sick, he prepared me with a hot bath and an electrolyte drink.

When I'm sick, I like to sleep in his bed and then I feel better.

He is my listener.

Sometimes I share my story with him and he listens.

During a chat, I told him that I had been to China and showed him a picture of me standing on the Great Wall. I remember he said to me that he must go to the Great Wall once in his life, I think he really wanted to see the Great Wall, so I put this wish on my travel list. I hope I can take a handsome photo for Dad on the Great Wall one day.

He is my sports partner.

He likes sports.

I go home every once in a while. Actually, my schedule back home is not very packed, because I want to spend most of my time with my dad and family.

The daily life of returning home is simple but also beautiful.

When we have free time, we walk together in the morning. He likes jogging and walking in the forest.

After exercising, when I get home, I make coffee for the two of us. He only drinks black coffee. I drink black coffee and occasionally I also drink 3-in-1 coffee. Every time I go back to China, I often buy coffee and dark chocolate or other nutritional supplements for him.

Did you know that dark chocolate can help prevent heart disease and reduce the risk of stroke. And it can regulate blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of developing diabetes. And dark chocolate is nutritious and delicious, albeit bitter.

We occasionally ride motorcycles to have breakfast. Stop by the traditional market, he knows that I like to eat all kinds of fruits, he often asks me what fruits I want to eat today, so we will spend time choosing fruits together.

He has office hours at home. I would sit on the sofa and read a book or watch TV.

Sometimes he needs to go out to visit clients, he always asks me, what are you going to do?

I always get back to him saying, well, there is no plan yet. Maybe going to a coffee shop or taking my brother for a walk in the sun or visiting my friends.....etc.

Sometimes he would say he was free on certain days so we could go out for a walk with my brother. I'm happy to get back to him, ok.

Sometimes, when the weather is not too hot, we tidy up or water the papaya and banana trees in his little garden.

As always, time flies. The last day of the journey always comes.

Frog Frog: Dad, my plane next week!

Dad: Oh.

There was so much love coming out of my face to him each time, but I felt like I was really good at hiding my emotions and expressions so he wouldn't notice. After the last hug at the airport, I felt a little melted in my heart, it was moving faintly, it should be missing.

Anyway, it's life.

He is my father and my teacher.

What's your favorite trait about your dad?

What does your dad mean to you?

Are you like friends?

Do you often talk to your father about your heart?

Are you very talkative?

Remember to go home and hug Dad every now and then! 🤗
