Why is the body easy to lean forward and backward when meditating? Where is the tongue placed? Should the eyes be closed?

Meditation is relaxing. The foundation of meditation is based on "relaxed concentration", and then the "relaxed concentration" enters into a state of concentration, which is divided into many levels (this article will not discuss it for the time being).

1. Why does the body tend to lean forward and backward during meditation?

The primer is "relaxed concentration". And what is "relaxed focus"? Your driving state is "relaxed focus". You can't be very nervous while driving, but you need to focus on the front. This is "relaxed focus".

You'd say, I'll be fine with the drive, why meditate? But driving is usually noisy, and you have to make emergency lane changes, and even in the absence of these conditions, your mind is still rambling. Therefore, if the situation ahead is the same when driving, and there is not too much noise around, the head will easily enter the Alpha wave from the Bata wave and want to sleep. Once you park your car on the side of the road and want to sleep, you can't sleep because of the noise, so it's back to the Beta wave, unless you didn't get enough sleep or were too tired that day.

The same is true of meditation. You want to sleep when you enter the Alpha wave from the usual Beta wave, but meditation is training awareness in the Alpha wave or even the Delta wave. At this time, your posture is easy to stagger, what should you do?

  1. Many people are like this. Please don't blame yourself. Under the blame, you will feel bad for yourself, making it difficult for meditation to become a habit. Unless you're sleep deprived or physically tired that day, you really need to get enough rest before sitting still.
  2. It is easy for beginners to fall asleep when they enter the Alpha wave. At this time, they can change their breathing, breathe with fire, exhale rapidly through the nose, and open their eyes.
  3. When you start to meditate, wake up with awareness and imagine that your body is pulled up by a rope directly above your head, as shown in the figure below. At this time, your body will naturally follow the trajectory of the rope and automatically stretch upwards, thus returning to an upright state.

Don't be discouraged, because you have already entered the Alpha wave very well. It is not that you want to fall asleep or become confused when you enter the Alpha wave. Everyone's physical and mental conditions are different every day. The initial sleepiness will make the body easy to stagger. Keep practicing the above three steps , and slowly you can adapt to the state of Alpha waves, and become aware, and only with awareness can you "see".

My daughter fell asleep after sitting for less than three minutes, I kept encouraging her, and after a while I got over it. Once you can be aware of Alpha waves or Delta waves, you will see very clearly, know the answer without any logic, and get more inspiration, which is why many difficult problems are solved in sleep.

2. Where is the tongue placed?

The correct tongue is on the palate, but beginners can place it naturally. Why do you want to touch the upper jaw with the tongue, because the action of touching the upper jaw with the tongue is easy to enter into meditation, and there are two acupoints under the tongue that can produce body fluid and secrete saliva. In Taoism, saliva is where the essence, qi and spirit are located. Form a habit slowly.

When I was practicing in India, the Indians told me that the ancient yogis did not touch the upper jaw with their tongue, but there was an air hole behind the upper jaw, as shown in the picture. Refers to the teacher) cut the tongue-tie, so that the tongue can easily enter the air hole. I heard that this can train yogis to be in a state of meditation when walking, standing, sitting, and lying down. This is an ancient yogi's practice method. Personally, it is not recommended to hurt one's own body. There are many ways to enter into meditation in action.

3. Do you want to close your eyes?

Eyes should be half-closed or fully-closed. Different schools speak differently. Some people think that eyes are the window to the soul and the energy exchange entrance, so they are required to be fully closed to keep the energy from leaking out, especially in esoteric sects. The pass should also be practiced blindfolded; some require a half-closed state to avoid falling asleep. Through the half-closed state, one can slowly walk, stand, sit, and lie down.

Personally, I think both are right. Depending on your habits, I didn’t like half-closed at first because it was not easy to enter into meditation. Later, to a certain extent, half-closed or full-closed made no difference to me, so I tried to meditate in half-closed. In this way, you can train yourself to remain in a state of concentration in action.
