【Creative Human Nature】Things under ten years of writing experience (3) Politics and writing

Words, publishing, liberty and power, these seemingly simple but complex elements kept turning into diagrams in the mind to illustrate their relationship, the idea of Ben Bear's writing began to emerge, and it was impossible to ignore those ordinary people who couldn't rely on the naked eye The existence of seeing, the reason why he took the time to teach himself.

In 2014, Hong Kong ushered in the Internet 23 Articles and the Umbrella Revolution, which became the beginning for many anime fans to understand politics, but Ben Xiong was not among these anime fans.

Earlier, after coming into contact with the national anthropomorphic works from Japan, Ben Xiong began to be deeply interested in world history, politics, etc., and thus got to know the fan organization ImYours . At the same time, after graduating from high school, Ben Xiong entered the college world, and his life became more free and comfortable. He could travel around and sightseeing. As a result, he developed another feeling for Hong Kong. What are the creators thinking?

A voice in my head said, "This is not right."

In 2021, "Box Records Creation" held an event in Penana titled "Around the Furnace" uses creation to create a small world of its own. The collection is no more than 250 crosses. Those who make creators insist on creating reason. It is a great honor, although Ben Xiong's contribution did not win the prize, but he got the opportunity to be published, and the published articles are already on consignment in Hong Kong bookstores.

My head is full of voices, and I know they exist.
However, if I don't write down their stories and just indulge in the space of consciousness that I communicate with them, then their stories will disappear from the world with me.
I think this is not allowed.
If they have ideas of their own, and I agree with their ideas, why not write their stories down?
So I wrote them as my own characters so that they could assert their will to all who read their stories.

This remark is what Ben Xiong has understood from those years. Ever since he was a child, certain words would ring in his head from time to time, and Ben Xiong couldn't recognize whose voice it was at the time. However, they are always with me. Sometimes they chat with me, sometimes they help me with ideas, and sometimes they tell me some little knowledge about life... Ben Xiong's skill tree, in addition to being taught by elders and schools, has grown. In addition, these voices also played a big role, making Ben Xiong a curious and hateful student.

On the other hand, social changes are slowly affecting daily life. The method of receiving information has changed from TV programs, news reports, newspapers, etc., to social media, and news spreads very quickly. Cognitive differences: Why does someone else hate free writing so much? Why do certain powers prohibit free publishing? Why do words have a charm that makes people cry, get angry, resentful, or cry with joy?

Words, publishing, liberty and power, these seemingly simple but complex elements kept turning into diagrams in the mind to illustrate their relationship, the idea of Ben Bear's writing began to emerge, and it was impossible to ignore those ordinary people who couldn't rely on the naked eye The existence of seeing, the reason why he took the time to teach himself.

For me, and for them, what is writing?

So Ben Xiong began to write "Red Harmony" , "Assistant to the Demon" and many different short stories, trying to write the stories of these voices in the writing, and at the same time express the world in Ben Xiong's eyes, and use the stories to tell The meaning of history, telling the state of current affairs. Compared with the articles of other authors, Ben Xiong's story in the fantasy world, with a sense of powerlessness from real experience, tells one truth after another. As Ben Xiong's current editor said, Ben Xiong's works are relatively small, but it does not mean that there is no market.

So, when the first blue sky came to the front, Ben Xiong began to sell his works in fan activities to earn a little living expenses; on the other hand, he began to participate in online novel competitions, such as " 2015 POPO Chinese Writing Awards " , "The 3rd Tianxing Novel Award ", etc. and has been shortlisted for many times; "Red Harmony" has been appreciated by the editor and has been specially serialized in Penana.

After having published doujinshi and a little work experience, I am relatively familiar with the method of submission. So, in the eighth year of writing, I submitted to four publishers, and received replies and rejections from three publishers. I also received compliments from different editors in the emails, "Your writing is very stable and beautiful", "The story is arranged Very good", but unfortunately the content of the story does not conform to the publishing orientation of their publishing house, so it is not a draft.

I also remind everyone here that when submitting your manuscript, remember to submit to a publisher that you don’t like or understand, or a publisher whose style does not match the publisher’s, otherwise, no matter how well you write, you will not be accepted.

Compared to those years , the "failure" still exists, but at least a little better.
