5 things I saw in Hong Kong

(I wrote this article in the early morning of October 5th, first published on my WeChat public account, and published it on the morning of October 5th, but it didn’t take long to get a 404.

This article was originally written for readers inside the for wall, and I would feel that if it was posted outside the wall, it would not have much meaning. Later, with the encouragement of a friend, I still came to save a file.

I think at this time, what we need is a record. )

On the morning of October 2, Lok Fu subway station

Foreword:

Actually, I've always wanted to write something about hk issues. But I can't always write it.

On the one hand, it was because I was not in Hong Kong during the summer vacation this year, and I lacked the presence at the beginning, so I lost a sense of empathy. There are many things that we can understand and condemn through reason, but the emotional level still needs to be experienced by you in order to understand. Therefore, I have always thought that I am not worthy of "pointing fingers" for this event.

On the other hand, I think it's too easy to be labeled as a faction by making a statement now. One day, I made an appointment with two groups of people for lunch and dinner. They talked about the same topics and said the same things during lunch and dinner. As a journalism student, I have always been extremely restrained in expressing my own opinions, in other words, I rarely express my personal opinions, especially on such "sensitive" topics. So at that time, I only briefly mentioned the content of the news reports and some of the demands of the parties involved. As a result, the same content has received two completely different evaluations.

So you will see that I only updated a word cloud text that I said and didn't say at the end of August on this official account.

But lately, I've found that I do need to offer some other perspective. My friends also encouraged me to say that you don't have to worry about being inaccurate, first try to express what you know.

But of course, the most direct encouragement for me to write is to see Mr. Xie Mengyao's special article about Liu Sir today. He said in the comment area that he just respects journalism professionalism.

I'm thinking, is it possible, I still try to provide what I know so that more people who want to know will know about it?

So, although I can't fully guarantee the correctness, I will try to provide some people's opinions for your reference. I guarantee the originality of the information, but I do not guarantee that they are representative of everyone.

Prior notice:

1. The following only represent what I personally saw, heard, and thought of. You can discuss with me in the comment area. for reference only.

2. repost is not endorsement The following is for sharing only, it does not mean that I agree/disagree. If you want to listen to my personal opinion, welcome friends who have a rational discussion to make a tea appointment with me~

3. Since jc's real voice has been rarely heard (some say it's because they have been refusing to be interviewed by the media), I must admit that, like many people, I have been exposed to pro-protest's voice more than jc's voice. So many of the following will be from that side of the view. Additions are welcome.

4. I am personally opposed to violence that causes direct physical harm to others, regardless of the origin. I personally condemn the shit sticks who deliberately muddy the water in this incident.

1. "Not everyone who hits the streets supports gd, and I hate when people call us gd directly"

This is what I heard a friend reiterate over and over again.

In fact, in the more than four years I have been in HK, I have rarely heard anyone directly say that I support gd. Most of the people I have come into contact with support democracy, real xx and so on.

Those who do not support gd also know that independence is impossible with a high probability. The most important reason is that there is no army.

Everyone has their own demands, so it is impossible to generalize.

Of course, there is another very important point: love hk does not equal gd.

2. Not everyone who participates in some sports will go to the front line in the later period.

The movement here actually refers to some peace (peace), rationality (sex), non (violence). The front line refers specifically to the front line with violent participation in the later period.

For example, today (October 4th) at the University of Hong Kong, many people choose to wear masks, because in order to oppose the ban on face masks, the past is full of masks. But not everyone who chooses to wear a mask at this moment will be on the front lines at night. Including the human chain of each school. The black-clothed "thugs" you see are actually a small number of people.

A local student once shared her views with me. She also participates in the annual Memorial xx parade because she feels that is the only way she can show her support, and if no one steps forward, it will be forgotten.

So I would say that many of the people I have come into contact with are more inclined to express their demands through reasonable and non-violent means rather than violence.

3. But this does not mean that among them, all of them now oppose violent means or all support violent means

When I was writing this passage, I found it very difficult to write. Because it's really hard to sum up everyone's thoughts in a few words.

So I try to list some common views I see, and of course reiterate that my list does not mean I support it. Additions are also welcome in the comments section.

Here's what I've seen about violence:

a. Because nonviolent means do not yield results, we can only resort to violence.

b. Some violent acts are actually done by "black police" pretending to be protesters and deliberately discrediting them.

(Supplement from the circle of friends: But in fact, most people still support violent methods, even if they do not go to the streets)

4. Distrust

From my personal point of view, I would feel that there is a general sense of distrust right now.

If you can't understand this distrust, you can't really understand why some people do things.

For example, why do we hear that there are protesters who refuse to go into depth with people who speak Mandarin. Because they don't trust people from the mainland.

This mistrust is also reflected in many places, including why it is so against Bill.

And this sense of distrust, I personally think, has given birth to a very distinct sense of unity, that is, only the HK people can save HK.

And this feeling of being in a group also has the saying of not cutting seats, so for now, I think that even if there are subtle differences in the thoughts of everyone, it is difficult for you to express this difference.

5. When it comes to following the rules, both sides have shortcomings

I don't think it would be so difficult if either side followed the rules.

A few facts:

Even the x-wall is not a democratic wall. Go according to the [rules]. Only those with the name and student number written on the zhuzhu wall cannot be torn down, but you can post your opinions to refute, and also write your personal information. But as things stand now, you know...

Netizens believe that the reasons for several arrests are really absurd. For example, in the case of the president of the Baptist Student Union, the editorial board of the student union issued a document stating that he just picked up someone else's card case, greeted the owner to help keep it, and was later arrested for theft.

It also reinforced distrust between the two sides. There has also been a call for the establishment of an independent commission of inquiry.

Above, I tried my best to describe the 5 things I saw in HK as calmly and objectively as possible. Discussions are welcome, and no brainstorming is allowed.

This morning, I wrote this article at 2:00 in the morning. As I write this, I think I have the guts.

Again: We respect facts and need to know what really happened, whether we agree with it or not.

Finally: I will not open a reward for this article like a classmate! (o^^o)
