My favorite books of 2022

(edited)

I read 220 sets of books in 2022, a total of 339 books, which is more than in 2021. It feels like I won’t read so many books in 2023.

The books I have chosen below are all books that have touched me and surprised me.

8 novels

"The Defender of the Eight-foot Gate"

The first prize of Mirror Literature Millions Novel is truly deserved.

The vision is grand, covering not only the issues of indigenous people and migrant workers, but also the issue of the survival and abolition of the death penalty, legal and practical issues, interest groups and political issues, as well as justice and means. In short, it is all-inclusive, very complete and wonderful. .

Although the case is single, it involves a wide range of aspects, and the plot is compact, which makes people unable to stop watching. The more you watch, the more interesting it is. It is highly recommended.

"Ghost Place"

There's a reason why "The Dark Side" has received rave reviews, because it's really beautiful.

This is definitely a literary novel. After reading one page, you will find that the author's writing is excellent, and you will be unconsciously immersed in his words.

The narrative perspective keeps changing, with a family of parents + seven brothers and sisters, plus some surrounding characters, the story is slowly pieced together like a puzzle. Even so, it is not confusing, and the story is very thoughtfully laid out.

This is not a novel that makes people happy to read, because the characters in the novel seem to be unhappy. After reading it, I felt a bit heavy, but very satisfied.

"Conditions of Normal People"

"Conditions of Normal People" is an imaginative novel that is both very realistic and very unreal.

It is a tragic song about the life of the lower class. In order to survive, it is reduced to a human form. Unreality is the direction of the plot, which becomes more and more crazy but more and more attractive.

I never thought that writing about the hardships of life could be written in this way. People who work should be very sympathetic. They can't help but feel sad while watching it, but they will also laugh and cry at the same time due to the plot.

"Six Lying College Students"

How much humanity and how many lies can be involved in a job search?

The company originally said that the six candidates who were left to the last stage would form the strongest team and be hired together. However, before the final interview, they were told that only one of the six would be hired, and it would be up to them to decide which one to hire. . How could such a ridiculous thing exist? A "prisoner" appears in the final interview. How to find out the "prisoner"?

As the novel continues to develop, it keeps twisting and turning again and again, and the plot lines are cleverly arranged to take readers into this job hunting battlefield. Human nature is very dark, but the ending is unexpectedly warm, but I feel sad.

"Visitor from the Lonely Island"

I originally thought that there would be no surprises in an island-style mystery novel, but after adding special settings, it was amazing.

Although it has a special setting, it is 100% original reasoning, an island + murder, as well as trust and suspicion. The author has written everything in full, and every clue has a perfect answer, leaving nothing behind.

"Visitor from the Island" is a novel that makes people very satisfied after reading it.

"Mantis"

"Mantis" is a very gentle killer novel.

The third book in the Kotaro Isaka killer series, this time the killer is relatively single, and there is no big fight like the previous two books. The story is simple but powerful. At the beginning, I felt that the story was not exciting enough, but a twist in the second part made me stunned. Even after knowing the ending, I still followed it nervously.

A super powerful killer is extremely afraid of his wife. He is not afraid of death, but is worried that his wife will be angry if he accidentally dies. Only at the end does he realize that this is really a story of pure love.

"Balloon Man"

"Balloon Man" is a better mystery novel than I expected.

At first I thought they were independent short stories, but it turns out that the same character runs through each independent short story.

The protagonist is a killer known as "Balloon Man". He has the power to give commands to a person by touching his skin, causing the person's body parts to inflate, swell or twist, or even die.

After the protagonist discovered this power, he changed his career as a killer. He is best at pretending to be an accidental death. Of course, each novel is a murder story, but the tone of each one is also very different. Among the nine works, I guessed There should be only one article. Even though I knew it wouldn't be that simple, I still couldn't guess the author's technique and I really enjoyed the reading process.

"Girls' Night Walk"

"Girls Walking at Night" can be considered a dark series. Some stories take a fantasy route. Sometimes they are full of magic, sometimes they are embarrassing, sometimes they are a little scary, and sometimes they are soothing.

It is composed of eight short stories, but the relationships between the characters are inextricably linked, which is my favorite structure. This novel gets better and better the more I read it, and the more I read it, the more I like it. It is definitely a surprise.

2 books of reportage

"The Girl Who Was Killed Three Times"

The book "The Girl Who Was Killed Three Times" is really wonderful. This is reportage about real people. When reporter Qing Shuijie investigated the murder of a young girl, she not only tracked down the murderer faster than the police, but also exposed the corruption and shamelessness of the police.

A girl met a man by chance, and they were in an ordinary relationship at first, but soon found out that he was a horrible lover, and she was always in extreme panic. When she finally plucked up the courage to break up with him, she was repeatedly intimidated, After being harassed, the girl and her family went to the police station many times to report the incident. Not only were they despised by the police, but they were even asked to file a complaint. Due to the police's inaction, they were actually killed. However, after she was killed, the police deliberately released unfavorable information about the girl in order to cover up their grievances, trying to portray her as a barmaid who was greedy for famous brands, making the public think that her death was her own fault.

Among the media, there is only one magazine reporter who is always excluded and insists on finding out the truth. He even uses his own strength to track down the real murderer and then reports the information to the police...

Because it is a true story, I knew the outcome of the whole thing early on, but I was still very nervous to follow it.

After reading this book, I will feel very heavy, but at the same time I am very happy that there are people in this world who still have a sense of justice and persist in pursuing the truth to the end.

"The Serial Murderer Is Still Out There"

The author of "The Girl Killed Three Times" moved from a magazine to a TV station to create a project to "promote Japan." When looking for a topic, the author noticed that there were five cases of girls being abducted and murdered in the Northern Kanto region, three of which The police claimed to have solved the case and the prisoner was sentenced to life imprisonment. But if the prisoner was really caught, why would there be a fifth case? The author discovered the suspected real culprit during the investigation, but because the police believed that the prisoner had already been brought to justice, they absolutely refused to admit the real culprit he had found. Therefore, the author actively proved that the prisoner in the prison was innocent, and finally found out that it was an unjust case. However, Does this mean the police admit the other real culprit? The inside story is far beyond normal people's imagination... It's scary to see people gnashing their teeth and the bureaucracy.

I really admire this reporter. With his reporter's instinct, he found the murderer faster than the police the second time. I really want to ask, what are the police doing?

Even if you already know the outcome, it will still be exciting to watch.

3 books of prose

"60 Days to Workplace Survival Diary"

A book of prose that moved me greatly.

A 45-year-old middle-level manager was suddenly told by the company that he would be laid off in 60 days if his business failed to meet standards, so he started the habit of writing a diary online every day, counting down the 60 days of workplace survival diary, recording what happened every day and what he thought and felt. , in addition to his rich life experience, I was also deeply touched by his thoughts and feelings, especially watching the changes in his mental journey, which was even more touching.

When reading this book, I will constantly think about my own life, my views on work, and my family, so I say this book is touching and a good book that can make people reflect on life.

"Artistic Girl's Silicon Valley Attack"

It is somewhat similar to "60 Days to Workplace Survival Diary", both are books with reflections.

The author has a legendary life. Her parents are Taiwanese, but they immigrated to Puerto Rico before she was born. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico, but the locals always regarded her as a foreigner. When she was in the fourth year of primary school, she returned to Taiwan with her mother, and the Taiwanese regarded her as a foreigner. An American, she didn't understand Chinese characters at all at the time, but she was able to become a top student step by step. She studied civil engineering in college, but after her master's degree, she chose to study novel writing. She later worked as a technical writer for Tesla. After giving birth to her daughter, she suddenly decided to teach herself programming, so she changed her career to become a software engineer, and she continued to create during this period.

This book is good not only because of the legendary life of the author, but also because it contains many inspiring reflections for readers and some very practical suggestions.

How great can a person's potential be, how can one find his or her interests, and how can one realize his or her dreams... If you feel confused about your life, you might as well read this book. I really recommend it.

"Destroying this Abnormal Person"

A sister writes about her younger brother, who lives in a cocoon, while also exploring her relationship with her family members and delving into their feelings.

Reading this book, I feel a sense of pain, because whether the author is writing about himself or the author is writing about his younger brother, I can also find my own shadow in it. The author has simply written out some of my private feelings over the years (of course, she is to write yourself).

You may feel that this book is too personal, but while reading this book, you will have deep self-reflection. Do I have such misunderstandings and dilemmas when getting along with my family?

No matter what, taking one more step is just one step. It is not easy, so it is more precious.

2 comics

"Shenming Convenience Store"

"Shenming Convenience Store" is a comic that will make people laugh out loud. Xie Donglin's creativity is really amazing. How could he come up with so many laughs?

Just like the title of the book, this convenience store is opened by gods. The store manager is a god intern. He must serve the believers in order to upgrade. Other gods such as Yuelao, God of Wealth, Wenchangjun and other gods will come to this convenience store, and they all Comes with lots of jokes.

"Helena and Mr. Big Bad Wolf"

"Kami Convenience Store" was funny, but "Helena and Mr. Big Bad Wolf" was moved to tears.

This is a story about how Helena and Mr. Ohno healed each other after they met. Both of them have a past that they don't want to look back on, but through each other they feel the hope and meaning of life again. In addition to healing, it also tells the story of the writer's creative process. The Big Bad Wolf himself encountered a creative slump and was about to give up writing, but he unknowingly got out of the bottom because he guided Helena on how to create a story-telling picture book.

Unknowingly, I have been moved by this set of comics several times, and I am moved to recommend it.
