【Gay Parade 2021】Activists outside the Rainbow Market: Free Queer from Capitalism (with action video recording)

The 13th gay parade was held on November 13. Due to the restrictions of epidemic prevention measures, the parade was changed to a market in an industrial building. The inside of the industrial building is bustling, and there are various wonderful things outside the industrial building. A group of queer activists spontaneously displayed "Free queer from capitalism" and "Fuck rainbow money" slogans and distributed stickers outside the Kwun Tong downtown area and market to promote their ideas to passersby.

The following is the message of action conveyed by this group of queer activists through the G-spot:

We are the activists who participated in the action outside the local niche market on November 13, and we are also from the queer community, during the action we held the signs "free queer from capitalism" and "fuck rainbow money" and distributed the above signs For stickers, we have the following information:

1. Our stickers and slogans may be regarded as sharp words, and we want to have a discussion with the organizer and the masses to cause thinking;

2. The local Pride (Editor's Note: Hong Kong Gay Parade) has always been unfriendly to the grassroots and has been held on Saturdays, making it difficult for grassroots minorities to participate. In recent years, a multinational speculative investment company has funded Pride. As the largest organizer of sexual minorities public events in Hong Kong, operations like this make it more difficult to explain to the masses the rationale that "the difficulties of sexual minorities come from capitalism";

3. In capitalism, people are portrayed as identical "working slaves", which is contrary to the sexual minority movement that emphasizes diversity. The consumption promoted by capitalism causes the sexual minority to put money The pursuit of "life quality", who earns the money paid by the sexual minorities? Old, ugly, fat, and poor sexual minorities are blasted to the fringes of society.

At the end of the event, activists marched outside pandamart in Kwun Tong, waiting to show solidarity with the delivery workers who were on strike that day, as a way to express the solidarity of all the oppressed.

There have been no large-scale marches and assemblies in Hong Kong for more than a year, and many people worry about whether Hong Kong will still have the right to public expression, marches and assemblies. One of the activists told the G-point reporter: "Recalling that the real estate hegemony has not captured the entire city, the bar can survive a few days of business, and every Saturday is a gay (male) parade in Central. Whether it is a bar The transitions between, squatting in the convenience store on the street to buy alcohol, or going on tour in the public toilet, are always demonic, dynamic, with different classes and people coming and going. I believe that as a movement that emphasizes diversity, it will definitely find A better occasion for us to see each other and cheer each other on.”
