Accidental Vegetarianism: Vegetarian Year (Fuk Lung Building) @ Sham Shui Po

Accidentally visited Sham Shui Po for computer supplies, and had a taste of the popular new vegetarian queuing shop in the area - Su Nian. There are Japanese-style, Western-style, Thai-style, and meat-like vegetarian food, and it is not difficult for carnivores to accept. In restaurants, not every dish is suitable for the taste, and the taste varies from person to person, so personal experience is the most accurate.

Want to buy a tool to clean the keyboard, go to the computer market to find, Sham Shui Po is the concentration of the computer market.

We settled for lunch before shopping, and chose the popular new vegetarian queuing shop in the area - Su Nian.

In the past two years, everyone has been in turmoil, and the restaurant business has entered a cold winter. In the past year, it expanded against the market and opened a second branch in the same district. In addition, it also has its presence in Tsuen Wan and Whampoa.

I ate at the main shop over there in the Fulong Building.

Main course: Japanese set meal

I have eaten its takeaway before - curry pork cutlet (new pork) risotto. I remember that the pork cutlet made of new pork tastes very similar to the real pork cutlet, and the whole meal is also delicious as normal curry pork cutlet rice.

This time, the most attractive thing on the menu is this meal. After all, I have tasted it, plus the fried food is fatty and I am wary of new pork, so let's order something else.

One of the new pork items I found on HKTV Mall , the food label has sodium content that makes me hesitant

Ever since my All Day Breakfast experience , I've decided to refer to the photos on a food review site - the taste is a matter of opinion, but the components of the meal shown in the photos are real.

Japanese Set Meal – HK$88 (plus 10% service charge)
Tempeh Soup, Assorted Side Dishes, Udon, Dessert

On a certain food review website, I saw that many people also ordered this meal. It was rich in appearance. Among the various dishes, only okra challenged my acceptance limit the most. The others were all in my strike zone. , there should be room for dessert after eating.

It actually tastes light, so let's start with my favorite:

1st place: Taro and Sweet Potato Bobo

The key thing that pushed me to order this meal - wanting to try this snack, the single order size is too much for a single person to eat alone, this meal provides two cheese balls, and the portion is just right.

The fried sweet potato and taro balls are dry and not greasy at the entrance, crispy on the outside, soft and glutinous on the inside, sweet and delicious as a dessert made of glutinous rice 😋

2nd place: Udon in oily tofu soup

I like the smooth and chewy texture of udon, but the soup base is too light, and the oily tofu is more thick and sweet. If the taste of the soup base can be strengthened, the taste of the whole bowl of udon should be more balanced.

3rd place: small sweet potato

The sweet potato itself is sweet and fluffy, and even if it doesn't take extra effort, it's a delicious side dish.

No. 4: Cold Tofu

The cold tofu is sprinkled with a little sesame seeds, and there is a little soy sauce at the bottom. Compared to the volume of the tofu, this seasoning is really insignificant. It is the taste of the tofu itself. Fortunately, I quite like tofu - however, I still hope this side dish The flavor can be richer (such as a large amount of wood fish flower).

5th place: stick beans

When I go to a Japanese-style izakaya, the edamame is a small plate of snacks that makes people unconsciously eat it, but the edamame here...may have only the original flavor. I only ate the ones with a more beautiful surface and stopped.

No. 6: Okra

Okra has a fairly complete stalk, and the leaves on the stalk are also preserved 🙃

The okra here should be blanched and cut in half. The intact stalk is too scary for me, who regards vegetables as natural enemies. I only dare to eat the second half of the okra, one of which is still a bit bitter.

The taste and taste of okra are not acceptable to everyone. Personally, I think it should be more approachable if the okra is diced and mixed with sesame paste after blanching.

6th place: black fungus mixed with cucumber

I also ate the two ingredients, but I don't know what sauce was mixed with them. The black fungus shreds tasted sticky, and the texture and taste were not very pleasing.

Overall evaluation

The soy bean soup tastes ordinary, and it is not mentioned on the surface (in fact, the main dish of this meal is soup udon, and it also comes with a bowl of soy bean soup, which feels like too much soup). The whole meal really fits the impression of "light and light food". However, most of the dishes are seasoned lightly, and even more directly present the original flavor. Whether you appreciate it or not is a matter of opinion.

On the plus side, with less seasoning, the burden on the body should probably be less. I still hope that restaurants will spend more time on seasoning to enhance the flavor of the ingredients.

If I could try again, I would go out of my way to order the risotto with curry fried new pork chops.

Food upgrade: Dirty oat milk

Oat Milk Dirty – Add HK$28 to main course (plus 10% service charge)

The milk coffee in the vegan shop naturally does not use milk, but oat milk.

Dirty’s entrance is intertwined with hot and cold, and visually the coffee and milk are distinct – until I almost finished drinking, this cup of Dirty still has an obvious milk and coffee break. I think the visual effect is mainly because the coffee is not easy to mix with oat milk.

In terms of taste, except for the first and last bites, I can feel the presence of coffee. The longest middle part is dominated by oat milk... Maybe it is a safer choice to order iced foam coffee - in my memory, the last takeaway, iced Milk coffees perform better, and drinks are usually more flattering with ice.

The best oat milk Dirty in my personal impression is Return Coffee B46 (Tianhou shop), but that shop doesn’t work there or happens to pass by, otherwise I won’t be there; search on a food review website, Tianhou shop It has been closed, and there are two bases in Tsuen Wan.

Tsuen Wan is too far away for me, and I won't go there for nothing, so let's reminisce in my memory.

(About Return Coffee B46 (Tianhou): My FB sharing )

(It may also be that I have been drinking less plant milk recently, and my acceptance of plant milk coffee has decreased 🙃)

Everything from the main course to the drinks made me lose interest and gave up the idea of dessert.

Summarize

In a restaurant, not every dish fits the taste.

Just like this restaurant, I have only tried a few of the dishes and drinks - the curry fried new pork chop risotto is reasonable and delicious; the Japanese set meal is light and original, and it is unsatisfactory; the taro sweet potato is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which is not delicious. Greasy; based on personal experience, plant milk and coffee are usually not very harmonious, and there is nothing to do.

The advantage here is that although there is no meat food, the cooking style is Japanese, Western and even Thai, and there are also meat-like meals. It is not difficult for carnivores to find easy-to-eat meals. Vegetarian or not, you can also have a harmonious meal here.

My taste does not represent the taste of other people. Just as there are many relevant food reviews on the Internet, no matter how high the evaluation is, the only way to know is to try it in person.

This restaurant is a famous new-style vegetarian queuing restaurant. If the restaurant is not full, or you don’t have to wait too long, you might as well give it a try. As for whether a vegetarian diet is necessarily healthier, I personally think it depends on the cooking method and the ingredients of the plant meat. If your own health permits, you can eat out of your arms.
