Tongues Competed Between Chinese and Mandarin

"Mandarin is full of power and power, and the passable and commensurable flow of discourse is similar to what Herbert Marcuse called 'the language of overall management' in the United States. It has both eloquent language power—— Make sure that you have your reasons and reasons in hand; it also has a high degree of squeezing force-it will form a great deterrent to other discourse methods, in order to ensure your unlimited authority."

In Yunnan dialect, "fuck" has two meanings, but it is definitely not the one you know literally. One is to pass "curse" directly. There are already many ridiculous examples on the Internet. You can directly replace "curse" to create words, and then you will know how funny it is. The second is "worrying, caring, caring", making a sentence: Fuck can't disappear much. It means "can't manage so much".

Later, netizens reminded me that the word "fuck" spoken by Taiwanese is not the literal meaning we are familiar with. I looked it up and found that the meaning that will be exemplified also exists in Yunnan dialect. For example, "Naicao", this word should be very popular on the Internet. Someone translated it as "Naizao", but I think this is actually the northern dialect and the understanding of northerners. Translating other languages into northern dialect is translation . I don't know about other places, but there are exactly the same words in Yunnan dialect, so there is no need to change them. Or there is "spicy exercise", which means that this person is hardworking, capable, and good at doing things.

To this day, seeing some middle school and high school students still retain their dialect habits in their daily life, including the part of online expression, I feel that people who can type and chat in dialect are unusual.

Once during a chat, for some unknown reason, my mother suddenly told me that she couldn’t speak Mandarin, “Sometimes I couldn’t even understand what the hell I was talking about.”

We are a minority in Yunnan, and we don't speak the ethnic language for the time being, but we have been speaking the local dialect since we were young. Then one day, there were slogans and slogans of "Learn Mandarin well" everywhere in schools and society. The teacher began to teach in Mandarin with an accent. We sat in the classroom and looked at each other.

One fact that must be admitted is that Putonghua squeezes out the space where regional dialects should exist. When a dialect cannot be used in public in the local area, it means that the regional culture is being squeezed inappropriately.

"If Mandarin is the power discourse of the powerful, regional dialects are the spiritual discourse of the weak; if Mandarin is expansive, outward, and central, regional dialects are undoubtedly inner, restrained, and marginal. Mandarin is naturally in the Ruthlessly squeeze and threaten dialects in order to maintain their authority and legitimacy."

Both the linguistic majority and the linguistic minority have the right to use their own language.

After my daily contact, I found that northerners are stupid in terms of language. Every day, I am surprised that people from other parts of the country speak some funny dialect, imitate and ridicule, but they also say that they are babbling, claiming that they can’t understand a word . In fact, sometimes I really want to ask, is it true that I don’t understand it, or is it that you have been spoiled by Mandarin based on your northern dialect, which makes you unable to respect the languages of people from other places.

In the past so many years, I am a Yi nationality who cannot speak Yi dialect. The dialect is the only remaining barrier between me and Mandarin. Sometimes I find it amazing that our family speaks two dialects. Suddenly switch to another dialect tacitly, chatting as if talking about other people's lives.

There is the word "wu3 su4" in our dialect. I haven't been able to find the exact corresponding Chinese noun. If I really want to find it, I can only copy the word "evil (wu) vulgar" mechanically, but it still seems too strong and far away. Far "beyond" the original meaning of dialect words.

Later, I found an article "On Writing" written by Eileen Chang, and she said, "The people in Jiangnan have a word to describe the messy, unclean, congested sadness: "My heart is very 'foggy'. ""And she also explained that these two words do not seem to have equivalent nouns in Mandarin.

I feel that it is similar to my dialect, and the meaning is very similar, which is the feeling of a woman facing the "smell of dirty clothes piled up by the basin". She used the "fog number", followed by clutter and uncleanness, and the kind of bewildered and congested sadness is what matters.

"Worry in the heart is like a bandit washing clothes", a man may not be able to understand, the resentment in her heart cannot be erased, like dirty clothes that have not been washed. This is a metaphor that has only belonged to women for many years. Facing the mess left by her children and her husband, she hates and pities her, and then she still has to do it herself. After thinking about it, I only wish to fly without wings.

Talking about this example, a friend from Guangxi happened to tell me that "fog number" is also used very frequently in Guilin dialect, and she always thought it was Guilin dialect.

In our dialect, there are no such words as "work" or "go to work". Farming the land, chopping firewood and watering vegetables is "the way of living", and going out to work is the "way of living", and we must always find a way to survive. This is how we live.

Some serious books will say that language reflects the perspective and cognition of a specific language group on the world, nature, and society. This perspective and cognition is unique and cannot be easily replaced by other perspectives and cognitions. It is the real side of the world, nature and society.

When I was a child, newspapers were used to plaster the walls at home. I just learned to read and read those newspapers in a dialect. In my impression, almost all of them were words like "modernization". Not only are they awkward to say, but the information conveyed shows that it is another world. Basically irrelevant to my world.

Until I grow up and enter the city, my tongue is completely occupied by Mandarin, and I can skillfully use it to express everything related to "civilization" and "modernization". In the fantasy of the Chinese Dream, the way we see the world is completely changed.

Only those news from my hometown, my mother said that I can’t speak Mandarin, and my classmates in primary and secondary schools are using Chinese characters to imitate dialect expressions. These are better than nothing remedies, allowing us to keep a piece that will not be squeezed. Later I told my mother that there is nothing shameful in not being able to speak Mandarin, but that it is shameful to force people to speak Mandarin.

In my hometown in Yunnan, generations of children are still being taught the standard language, and when our children are not good at Mandarin, the slogans they utter will become like this: "We all have a dream, a dream that makes the motherland ominous."
