Pseudo-Spirituality or Pseudo-Science

[Shuixiang Weibian] mentioned Harris' book "Awakening" last time. Harris advocated abandoning beliefs and using a rational attitude to understand and accept spirituality. Unfortunately, there are very few people who can tap into reason and spirituality in reality. He thinks that so far, people who talk about spirituality can be roughly divided into two categories. One is a scientist who does not understand spirituality, and the other is a believer in the New Age, and both sides make different mistakes.

When it comes to spirituality, scientists are often suspicious. If it is not overly fantasy, it is believed that the practitioners just used exaggerated and untrue rhetoric to exaggerate the ordinary experience, such as the love of parents, inspiration in literature and art, and awe when seeing the beauty of the night sky. Scientists tend to reject all phenomena smeared with mystique, but have little experience or skill in Vipassana themselves.

The New Era believers are mostly imaginative and lack scientific training. This group of people may have experienced all kinds of abnormal states of consciousness, and have rich practical experience, but they are not good at analysis, and cannot use accurate scientific viewpoints to reflect their own strange experiences. What's more, many underworld masters are rambunctious, even though they don't know anything, they often quote cutting-edge theories such as quantum mechanics in order to package mysterious thoughts, as if modern science is only a variant of ancient wisdom.

With this restriction, everyone can choose between the two evils of pseudo-spiritual and pseudo-scientific.

Harris's achievements are naturally determined to break the current binary opposition and build a bridge between science and spirituality. Children only choose one of the two, and adults all need it. (to be continued)
