Take the key to the dormitory of KU Leuven

Before arriving in Belgium, our biggest worry was whether we could stay in the dormitory smoothly once we arrived there. We arrived at Brussels Airport at 1:30 in the local afternoon, and we had to pick up our luggage, go out of customs, and then go to Leuven. The dormitory administrator said that as long as you go to the school's dormitory group, you can get the key, but because of the epidemic, the dormitory group is only open from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. The whole process is really a matter of every second, and if you are not careful, you will be sleeping on the street.＠＠

Before going to Belgium, we had already contacted a senior to pick me up by car. He went to borrow a car specially, and was very moved.

He told me:

From the airport, we can get there in half an hour (accommodation group).

In theory, be able to arrive on time to get the keys.

He made an appointment with us at the drop off area of the airport, not at the pick-up area, because it's better to park and don't have to pay (I see a lot of locals do that too)

We dragged four suitcases (80kg in total) and hand luggage (15kg), after some twists and turns, we asked the service staff several times, and finally took the elevator to the 0th floor, walked out the gate, and crossed the bus station After that, finally reached the drop off area. As soon as we arrived, the senior's car just arrived, really very lucky.

Finally, we arrived at the accommodation group at about 3:30 in the afternoon, handed the relevant documents to the staff, and got the keys smoothly.

But there is a small episode: our car was parked in the parking space on the side, but because this car did not apply for a local parking permit, the industrious police gave us a 30 euro in just ten minutes. Ticket＠＠

As soon as we got to the dormitory, we took out our keys and prepared to go in. There are three keys, one to open the mailbox, one shaped like the root of a tooth to open the door, and the last one to open the door to our room. What's special is that the door of our room is not only used to open the door, but also used to lock the door. The door locks are on both sides. As soon as you enter the door, there is a toilet on your left. Open a door ahead, the kitchen is on the right, and a little further ahead is the small living room. Go to the end and turn left, it is our bedroom, and there is a bathroom that is separated from wet and dry.

After we settled our luggage, we went to the nearby Black Lion supermarket to buy some daily necessities.

For dinner, the senior invited us to dine together at their house. The cold watermelon rind, fried eggplant, tofu and smoked sausage were served with rice, which made me feel very warm.

As a result, our first meal upon arrival in Belgium was Chinese food, not fish and chips. Really, when people are abroad, simple home-cooked dishes can make people move.
