This unprecedented crisis has deepened many existing social inequalities, including persistent gender inequalities, inequalities in health care, weak health infrastructure, and the risk of secondary disasters. COVID-19 disproportionately affects the most vulnerable groups such as migrant workers, ethnic minorities, refugees and internally displaced persons, migrants, urban slum dwellers and those working in the informal sector (including small vendors, outsourced workers, sex workers, freelancers employers and gig workers, etc.).
