[Bookstore Map] The Vancouver bookstore I would like to recommend to everyone

Vancouver's oldest and most well-known independent bookstore, MacLeod's Book , recently faced the fate of being forced to close its doors. The controversy finally came to an end. Store owner Don Stewart said the Vancouver Fire Department asked him to remove 75 percent of the bookstore's books, meaning he had to find new places to store more than 70,000 books. But where are so many books going? When the news came, several friends were very sad. The store has a rich collection of books piled from floor to ceiling, which is a holy place for friends who like to hunt for treasures in the piles of books.

When I first came to Vancouver, the two bookstores I used to visit, Duthie Books and Sofia Books , have been submerged in the torrent of the times and closed. Hopefully MacLeod's doesn't join the heartbreaking list too soon.

my favorite bookstore

Vancouver Kidsbooks

Vancouver's favorite children's and teen bookstore, bar none. The cradle that nurtures book lovers, calls for creativity, and returns to the temple of innocence.

2557 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6K 2E9 Canada

3040 Edgemont Boulevard, North Vancouver, BC V7R 2N4 Canada

My favorite bookstore is KidsBooks on Broadway. Besides the library, it was my favorite place to go with my kids, big and small, during my trepidation as a first-time mother. Owner Phyllis Simon has a background as a librarian and a keen eye for book selection: KidsBooks is the first bookstore in Canada to introduce Harry Potter to readers . I started reading Harry Potter because of her recommendation, and I couldn't stop reading it. Later, when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , the seventh book in the Harry Potter series, was released in 2007, I also had a chance to be part of the PR team, working with the KidsBooks team to celebrate the new book launch with thousands of fans, ten midnight Two o'clock in the Van Dusen Garden to distribute new books . After I got home, I stayed up late to read an entire English book.

Kelly McKinnon, the partner of Phyllis, is good at business and a group of shop assistants with rich knowledge of children's books and young people's books. With their help, the two babies quickly fell in love with reading and developed their own unique reading taste and direction. From now on, I choose books to read by myself, and I don’t need to be scolded by me.

Reading the English original Chinese version of children's books that I read when I was a child, as well as the new books I haven't read yet, on KidsBooks made me relive the joy of childhood. The happiest thing is to buy the original Kenneth Grahame , the original illustrated version of " The Wind in the Willows " by EH Shepard as a collection.

Womyns' Ware

Celebration and Empowerment of Women's Sexuality.

896 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC V5L 3Y5 Canada

Womyns' Ware's motto is "Celebration and Empowerment of Women's Sexuality." Unlocking female sexuality, there are many types and choices of books related to female sexuality, and the clerk is very knowledgeable. For a while, I was very interested in this topic. Except for the classic and systematic works, the reference books that are not easily available in the marginal and alternative ordinary bookstores all came from their suggestions. By the way, the quality and style of the toys they sell are also relatively high-end, the environment is open and private, and the shopping experience is excellent.

Banyen Books & Sound

spiritual and healing resources since 1970

3608 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6R 1P1 Canada

Banyen mainly focuses on yoga, spirituality, meditation, and healing books, with rich audio-visual materials, very diverse activities and courses, and a very close connection with the community. In the autumn of my life, I found that I went to this bookstore more and more often and stayed longer and longer (😂 ).

Special themed independent bookstore

When online shopping was not yet prosperous, although I often used the large chain Chapters Indigo as a channel for ordering books (that is, using them as Taiwan's Xiaoqi ((7-11))), I like to visit independent bookstores with characteristics . List a few for you to explore.

Regent Bookstore

5800 University Blvd. Vancouver, BC V6T 2E4 Canada

The seminary-affiliated bookstore on the UBC campus is the only remaining religious bookstore in North America and a paradise for those interested in theology and religion.

Spartacus Books

3378 Findlay St, Vancouver, BC V5N 4E7 Canada

An independent bookstore of political and ideological books led by volunteers in East Vancouver.

White Dwarf Books

3715 W 10th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6R 2G5 Canada

Western Canada's fantasy and science fiction specialty bookstore.

Located in the West End of Vancouver, the variety of new science fiction books is very rich, and the store manager is an interesting soul.

Second-hand bookstores in Vancouver's West End

Kestrel Books

3642 W 4th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6R 1P1 Canada

Carson Books & Records

4340 Main St, Vancouver, BC V5V 3P9 Canada

Tanglewood Books

2306 W Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6K 2E6

There are also many bookstores located in the suburbs and satellite cities. It is impossible to list them all, so I will leave them to other Vancouver book lovers to share.

Although in recent years, I have mainly focused on buying e-books, I still like to visit bookstores to buy my favorite physical book collections. The greatest joy is to look forward to meeting an unknown book, which is more beautiful than love.
