give back

I thought this should be very effective, but after being lazy once, I have been lazy all the time, and finally the whole plan was abolished because of this...

I recently read some topics about feedback in a book. It is probably that we will always insist on doing one thing, and the big reason is because we get feedback in the process of doing something.

So what is feedback?

In my opinion, anything that can make you feel happy should be considered a reward...?

It’s like receiving compliments and comments from readers when writing an article; or when playing a game, the desire to win is satisfied after clearing a level, etc.

And because those actions make them happy, people stick to them.

Therefore, whenever we want to achieve some goals, we should also consider the factor of "feedback" when setting the plan.

Before, I also tried to set a goal for myself - to develop the habit of reading before bed.

Then, just before going to bed, I posted a point card, and every time I completed it, I added a point to the point card. When the points accumulate to a certain number, give yourself a small reward, such as buying some snacks or buying some small items you like.

I thought this should be very effective, but after being lazy once, I have been lazy all the time, and finally the whole plan was abolished because of this...

...Obviously those small rewards can be considered as rewards, but why can't I just stick to it?

Then I pondered and realized that it was the little rewards, not the activity itself, that made me feel good.

When I was doing that, I didn't feel any joy, and of course I didn't enjoy it very much. There was a feeling that I was forcing myself to complete the same job. It may also be for this reason that after being lazy once, give up directly. (And those small rewards can actually be bought directly...)

Later, with a sudden insight, I started to take online classes spontaneously every day, and I consciously organize notes after class. During the process, I never thought about being lazy, or stopping once and continuing this idea tomorrow.

I'm curious about how I did it? You must know that during my studies, I was like an ordinary student, and I didn't open my notes until the exam. How can I insist on going to class after get off work every day?

After thinking about it for a long time, when I saw the word "feedback", I wanted to understand it a bit.

The reason I push myself to study now is because I can feel happy every time I take a class. It wasn't because the teacher taught very well or the atmosphere in the class was amazing, but because I really felt that I was gaining knowledge while I was studying.

And the feedback of "getting knowledge every time" makes me feel extremely satisfied.

This feedback can be obtained every time, rather than waiting for a period of time.

So, does it mean that you can solve the problem of lack of willpower as long as you find feedback that makes you happy or satisfied every time you complete the activities you want to stick to?

Finally, I would like to introduce the book I read, "The Most Efficient Thinking and Note-taking Technique - Card Box Notes", which is very popular recently. The author is Sönke Ahrens. If you are interested, you can read it.
