Where is the old downtown area of Taichung?

A brief introduction to the place names of the old urban area of Taichung

1. The location of Taiwan (Salt Affairs Manager) in the Qing Dynasty in the Central District, formerly known as (Salt Pavilion)

2. The ruins of Taiwan Fucheng (South Gate) in the East District, now located on the (east) side of Taichung City, so it is called the East District

3. In the West District, there are big landlords who set up a public affairs office to pay land rent here, formerly known as (Mansion)

4. There are old Pingpu women in the southern district who are unwilling to move and still live here. The Han people call it (Fanpo) Village.

5. The early Han people (Qiu Cuo) (Lai Cuo) in the North District formed a surname settlement. Because the Lai surname is mostly, it is called (Lai Cuo Kuo).

6. In Xitun District, where the ancestors of the Pingpu people worshipped their ancestors, there was a lake called Malong Lake.

7. During the pioneering period of Nantun District, the (shop) shop area for farming tools, cattle (ploughs) and hoes (heads) was built, so it was called (plough shop), and it was renamed Nantun during the Japanese occupation.

8. Beitun District was originally called (30 ploughs), because the Han people in Taiwan counted the fields, and each plough was used as the calculation standard. During the sowing period, one person could plough up to five top lands. One hundred and fifty top fields, one plough is five top fields, because this area reclaimed one hundred and fifty top fields, one plough is five top fields, so it was called (30 sheets of ploughs), and it was renamed during the Japanese occupation period. (Beitun)

The former Dadun Street is located near the current Green River

From a relative position,

The north, west and south directions of "Dadun Street",

Roughly the current "Beitun", "Xitun" and "Nantun" districts,

"Xidadun" means "Xitun", and "Dongdadun" means "Dongtun". It is indeed called "Dongtun". Dongdadun = Dongdun = Dongtun = old Taichung

It's just that "Dongdun/Dongtun" is not used as the name of today's administrative district.

Simply put, it is centered on Taichung Railway Station.

The north, middle, south, east and west areas that extend outward~

At present, the scope of old Taichung is divided into the above-mentioned 8 districts.
