What if I can't read the book? In fact, the point is not to go in, but to "get out"!

Yesterday, I saw the good book recommended by @readbigeng "Highest Learning to Use: The Output Encyclopedia of Making the Most of Your Learning" , so I went to the blog to search, and I accidentally found that today is a 64% discount (only until 9/25), Bid to buy now.

As the title of the book suggests, Shion Kazazawa, the author who is a psychiatrist, emphasizes the importance of "output" (speaking, writing, and acting) based on his research on the brain.

This point of view is actually not the author's first creation. Many previous research results have shown that: while inputting knowledge, continuous output is more effective than blind input. However, based on these research results, this book proposes many specific output methods, which can be used not only in reading, but also in the workplace to improve work efficiency.

A few years ago, I was invited to give a speech at the Department of History of Foguang University, with the title of “Learning without ‘writing’ is nothing: New thinking in literacy education and tips for improving writing ability” , which is precisely to explain this important point to college students. concept.

Why am I so interested in this subject? Not only because I have benefited from practicing this concept, but mainly because I have been poisoned by traditional reading methods in the past, and I am well aware of its disadvantages, so I am determined to popularize this "output > input" reading method.

My mother used to use the method of dead reading when she was a student, so she also followed the word " death " when she taught me and my younger brother to read.

I remember she often said to us: "If you can't remember once, read it twice, if you can't remember twice, read it three times, and if you can't remember three times, read it a hundred times...". So, before the teacher taught, she forced us to read, after the class she forced us to read, when watching TV ads, she forced us to read, closed the door on Sunday, she forced us to read, at six o'clock in the morning on the day of the exam, she poached us Get up and read...

After studying like this, although the grades were not bad, I was still in elementary school and realized that I was trading a lot of time and effort for grades, the return on investment was extremely low, and I still hated reading. Sure enough, after I entered the junior high school, as the subjects increased and the difficulty increased, this dead-reading method no longer worked, and my grades gradually declined. After studying in the fifth major, I was not very interested in any subject, and I didn’t even know how to read. What is the meaning of. Later, after a period of painful self-exploration, I found my direction again.

Now, I am also an educator. When I stand on the podium and look at the students under the stage, I find that I am not particularly worried about those children who don't like to read, maybe they will spend their time and energy on other meaningful things; on the contrary, those who are still dying It's the way kids who study hard, who pay a disproportionate amount of what they get and miss out on other good things, and that's what worries me.

Learning is a lifelong matter. Only by mastering the correct reading methods early can this lifelong task be brought into full play and used for a lifetime.

Really don't worry about your child's inability to read books. The key is not to "fill in", but to "express" . It is recommended that after reading "The Best Learning to Use: The Output Encyclopedia of Maximizing Learning Results" , use new concepts and methods to guide children to read, and achieve the effect of getting twice the result with half the effort. Don't repeat my mistakes!
