Black Rabbit Revenue Statement (10/2020)

People don’t have anyone to supervise the things they really care about, and they will pay close attention to their development every day; but people are also creatures who need to turn invisible things into visible things in order to move forward steadily. So, even if I look at the data every day, let's review the October numbers before November ends.

The biggest revelation of this month: a single source of traffic brings a crisis.

word count

Let’s talk about word count first. I found that different software/platforms have different word counts. For example, when I used Scrivener to write a novel, its word count was a lot different from that of major novel platforms, which scared me.

So I did an experiment, found an online word count calculator, calculated the word count of the currently serialized novel, and compared it with Google Doc statistics. . By the way, Google Doc's word count is 1.58-1.67 times more than Scrivener's, with an average of 1.62 times... It can only be said that Scrivener's support for other languages needs to be strengthened.

The number of words is calculated based on the date of publication of the article. Some articles published in September were written before. In contrast, October is slightly less, so the production capacity is maintained.

Social platforms

The trend in the number of followers/followers on the FB page is the most gratifying, increasing from ten to twenty, thanks to the number of contacts shared by the post to major societies.

IG is the most invested among the three platforms (to make a picture), but the response is deserted, and it is currently stocking. However, the mods built to update IG have other uses to discover, and what you do (should) not be wasted. It is worth mentioning that Penana once shared my works on Story, and is the most enthusiastic about the author among several platforms.

Thanks again Penana for sharing 🥰

Plurk continues to gossip and gossip. Although it is also deserted, and occasionally someone strikes up a conversation, but it does not require too much investment, it is the author's tree hole.

FB question

FB is pushing its new interface. I don’t know when, it will completely prevent users from switching back to the previous interface. Under the new interface, posts shared to the community cannot be attached to the original post... This may not have any impact on the location of the link, but It will reduce the number of contacts on the FB page 😰

Website traffic or page growth, this is a multiple choice question.

When I'm (forced) to use the new interface, I've tested, shared to community posts, and attached the original post. Probably the easiest way to do this is to add an image to the original post. The image in disguise occupies the most conspicuous click position, and how many people are willing to click on the post, click on the link in the post... I'm not sure about this.

(The mods created by IG can be used at this time hahaha Orz)

Looking at the data of FB posts, other clicks (note) are not necessarily less than link clicks.

Note: Other clicks as defined by FB: Clicks that are not from a post, such as clicks on a profile name or “see more” clicks.

website

Personal website officially opened in October. The biggest advantage of a site is that it has the most control on its own territory, just like other novel platforms only provide article page views, but if I hang up Google Analytics, the data I can see is more detailed and can better evaluate certain The effectiveness of the promotion method.

There are two statistical tools on the website:

Google Analytics - Set to exclude traffic from your own IP

Jetpack - Supposedly doesn't count against admin login browsing data

The data of the two are similar, and the data that GA excludes its own traffic is slightly less than the original data. It seems that the two tools should also exclude the data of the webmaster.

I forget why I installed Jetpack, but its data refreshes faster than GA - GA only has 30 minutes of current data, and you have to wait after 0:00 to see the whole day's data - it's good to see how much traffic is currently on that day.

GA's data, currently the most noteworthy are:

Mobile Internet access is a general trend, and nearly 90% of visitors also use mobile phones.

FB is the main source of traffic.

traffic problem

In the past, I used Pixnet and Fc2 to write blogs, and the main traffic came from Google search. When I started to operate a website and found a brand new domain, it was difficult to get traffic on Google without any platform to borrow.

Random search results for the following:

Keyword: my work title

The author's own website can only be ranked second (it seems that I haven't seen my own website a while ago). By the way, which novel platform can be seen, it has a relatively high weight in Google's eyes (?)

Keyword 2: Related Phrases

The only thing hanging at the end of the first page is the serialization point of Jingwen Literature.

Keyword 3: Broad Category

Don't even think about this keyword.

The traffic to my site via Google...is only in the digits.

I originally thought that in the early days of the website, FB drainage was more realistic. Among the many traffic sources, only FB can actively contact its target interest group (share posts to relevant groups), but the problem of FB has been mentioned above... It is really dangerous to put eggs in the same basket, how to develop Other traffic sources are the next homework to do.

SEO

In the end, the first thing that comes to mind is Google's free traffic hahaha Orz

If you want to rank well in Google, the core idea is to let Google know your content, which can effectively meet the needs of searchers. The key factors are roughly as follows:

  1. Keywords: Google also analyzes the content of the article to see how well it matches the search keywords, and then judges whether it is relevant content;
  2. Backlink: In theory, only valuable content will be linked and shared. The more backlinks, the more people agree with the value of the content/website; and the link itself contains relevant keywords (text links) and comes from related websites. , and credible platforms, those links have higher weight. Conversely, too many backlinks come from spam sites and become suspicious in Google's eyes;
  3. User experience: Although the content is good, the website is too slow, the information is too hard to find, and the words are too ugly, which will cause the searcher to quit the website silently; also think that Google spider is full of information crawling the Internet, it will not take special care of an ordinary website, and it cannot be crawled. If it is, then it will not be crawled, and it is naturally difficult to establish an index of web pages.
keywords

At present, this site mainly focuses on serialized BL novels. Personal intuition keywords are either very broad (eg BL novels), or extremely limited (eg title of works), and even broad keywords should be quite unpopular.

I went to Google Keyword Planner and looked at the keyword suggestions provided by BL, Danmei and Google, and sure enough, most of the monthly search volume is not high, and it is not my personal prejudice. XD

Google Keyword Planner provides 1,299 keywords, and the monthly search volume further down is only 50

(In addition, many of the keywords are also very important, if you are interested, you may wish to search XD)

Moreover, where the novel can use keywords, it is only the title, the introduction and the URL, and then it is based on internal links, right? For example, add the tag "BL" to the article to further strengthen the correlation between the relevant content and the keyword. At the beginning, I thought that maybe my other articles, talking about the content that is easier to hit the search needs (such as the experience of using major novel platforms), can get traffic from Google XD, so I didn't care too much about keyword optimization for the novel part.

However, since you want to develop Google's traffic, you still need to do your best to add the keyword "BL" back to the title (I thought that the label "BL" had already been added, and there was no need to add "BL" to the title. Well. However, this idea is also too ideal. Of course, that label needs to be entered into the web page and pulled to the bottom of the content to see it)

In addition, Yoast SEO is used to add the meta description of the category page... However, the meta description is not included in Google's ranking indicators, and belongs to the copy that attracts searchers to click if the page appears in the search results.

Backlink

The most basic has been done - on major social platforms and platforms where works are published, add links to your own website, and every time you update, put links to articles where you can put links (FB, Plurk). .

user experience

As can be seen from Google Speed Test, if the webmaster himself has no resources and no IT foundation, the problem that can be solved in terms of website performance... should only be the size of the image file XD (and don't install plug-ins indiscriminately)

The best I can do for the website is to choose a platform/template that performs well at first, and pick a better host. When I watched other people's WordPress stand teaching, some people's experience is that buying a template of USD59 or more on themeforest has more comprehensive functions. In the case of no concept, it has become my primary indicator for template selection, and then Choose a website that is beautiful/closest to your own mind (of course, I will also see what functions it includes and what plug-ins/tools it supports, such as whether it supports WooCommerce, and can also open the online store function in the future)

In addition, I have done something with more technical content, which is to refer to the suggestions of SEO authoritative websites to set the URL structure;

Noindex tag: If a page has this tag, Google will not index the page and will not appear in Google's search results.

Next, I can only use normal human intuition to make the website as few clicks as possible so that users can find the content they want.

little encouragement

One day I found that someone finally tapped LikeCoin 😆

Contract Boys (BL) Chapter 7 - Earn LikeCoins

Work publishing platform

Data as of 4/11

Penana is still a unique show. One of the reasons is that fortunately, on this platform, some readers are more willing to interact, like and leave comments. Probably this also drives the works to achieve better rankings on certain tags. At the best time, you can rank in the top three, have better exposure opportunities, and strive for the number of clicks.

Abiso EP has a noticeable growth in subscription dynamics. I suddenly remembered that when I signed up for Abiso, one of the links was to track the authors on the platform... Shouldn't my subscription dynamic count be like this? XD Penana inspired me, does Abiso also have the opportunity to be exposed in any rankings? It is easier to get on the popular today, and it can be squeezed into the middle class with only a dozen clicks (?) at any time.

The other two platforms have not made much progress, especially Jingwen Literature. I seriously doubt that I should change the category to try to react (for example, switch to the love category, and then mark "BL").

notice

November is almost over, so I will not list the goals for the next month. In November, I will share more on traffic sources and keyword observation.
