[My transfer process] From the Department of Electrical Engineering to the Department of Social Psychology

(edited)
I wanted to study psychology when I was in high school. The reason was that I wanted to become a counselor. Unfortunately, I came from a vocational school. The psychology department never accepted students from a vocational school. So I took my first step and came to In the electrical engineering department of a general university, the challenge starts here.

Transfer Year: 2017 Summer Transfer Final Admission Department: Second Year, Department of Social Psychology, Shih Hsin University [Prepare 1]
Grades: Psychology 7X
Sociology 5X (this is my vague impression)

There are also applicants for [Practice University - Department of Family Studies and Child Development] and [Donghua University - Department of Counseling and Clinical Psychology].
(Because Donghua takes the review as the result, I didn't attend, so I won't give any ideas)

When I entered my freshman year, I decided to transfer schools
The first step was to consider whether to study by myself or to enroll in a cram school. This question varies from person to person. Personally, I advocate freedom and do not like to go to school at the specified time. Reading books, attending classes, and at the same time, because transferring to a cram school is also an expense of tens of thousands, I was embarrassed to take it with my family, so I chose to study hard by myself. However, if the goal is clear, cram schools are indeed an option that can be considered. There are many resources in it, whether it is lecture notes or other textbooks, and there are also teachers who can ask questions. This is indeed a considerable advantage. The only disadvantage is that some school departments have Teachers do not like tutoring (listening and listening) of students very much, and there will be discrepancies with tutoring classes in the direction of questions, which can be used as a basis for consideration.

Reference books and preparation methods
I was on the list in the summer of 2017. At that time, I chose Mr. Wei Zhifen's Introduction to Psychology as my first book, because the The content is detailed and not too jerky. In addition, I also refer to Mr. Zhang Chunxing's psychology. In principle, I first read the introduction to psychology, and then I started to do archaeological problems. I encountered some problems in the early days, and they were often not very good. Concept, a test paper will be written with few questions. So I started to record the topics that I didn’t know, and after writing the archaeological questions, I would go to find a few more books to fill in the contents that I didn’t know.

book list:
Introduction to Psychology Written by Wei Zhifen Published by Shuangye Shulang Published by Zhang Chunxing

Mastering limited resources
After studying by myself for a while, I felt that my progress was limited, so I began to look for relevant courses in the school. At that time, I listened to the psychology of the Department of Social Work and the Department of Psychological Counseling. The direction of the class is not the same. I suggest that you can listen to it. In particular, I would like to thank Mr. Hong Ruibin from the Department of Psychological Counseling for letting me listen to psychology for a whole semester. . Here is a reminder that teachers in each class have different habits, and some are not welcome to attend. It is best to write an email before class or ask the teacher before class.
Auditing across schools
In many cases, it is the best to audit directly in the department you want to take the exam. It is even the most ideal choice if you can participate in the midterm and final exams together. I I didn't take it myself, because the school is in Yangmingshan, and classes are basically until 6 pm five days a week, so I still stayed at the school to observe.
Archaeology is everything
Because my English is relatively weak (no modesty at all), but I really want to go to any related psychology department, so my focus is mainly on practical family research and the Department of Child Development and the Department of Social Psychology at Shixin. Sometimes I take the archaeological questions from the Department of Psychology of Fu University as my usual practice, while the practice and Shixin archaeological questions are tested every two weeks or a week (according to the progress), and I do one every time to evaluate myself. In the end, I will leave the archaeological questions of Shixin and Shixin in the last two years as my final simulation test.

Reading groups
Many times, someone needs to read with them, which will make them more motivated to move forward. I found a friend on Ptt who was preparing for psychology-related exams at the same time. I don’t remember the details clearly. There will be an appointment for a fixed period of time, and everyone will discuss the topic together, but after the discussion, most of the time, we are talking about the mood of preparing for the test. This is a good gathering for a lonely candidate like me.

Warm exhortation and psychological construction
The road to transfer is extremely boring and painful. Most people will not understand this decision. At that time, people around me thought I was crazy. A department with a clear and definite path leaves, and I am only enthusiastic for three minutes, and I will give up in a few weeks.
I also have to resist the temptation. Everyone around me is participating in clubs and singing at night, but I have to study, and occasionally I feel a little negative in my heart, worrying that I will not be able to get on, and I wasted a year.
The proportion of luck in transferring is very high. Sometimes, even if you work hard, your luck in the exam is not so good. If you happen to be unfamiliar with it, you will end up falling out of the list. For me, I was mainly studying psychology at the time. After practice, I feel full of confidence, and psychology can definitely get full marks, but the results are very poor, whether it is the test questions or the person who corrects the paper is one of the influencing factors.

I am lucky to get in
Because both schools have psychology exams, so I do my best to spend time on psychology, which is very irrational, I should move the appointment I spent 20%-30% of my time preparing for other subjects, because sociology was a little overturned in Shixin’s exam. I expected to get 60-70, but in the end I only got 50 or so, which also left me only as a reserve ( 1), in the end, because the candidates in front had other options, I had the opportunity to be admitted. When the economy allows and the exam subjects are similar, signing up for a few more schools can effectively reduce the possibility of failing to attend.

I am really happy that I succeeded in the transfer exam. I have to thank the people who supported me and helped me when I was still in culture. I have never been the smartest or the best, but I know my subject level. This article wants to give those who are worried, Fear of those who dare not move forward. This is a kind of process. If your goal is in National Taiwan University, maybe you can transfer two or three times. In the end, you can succeed in the summer transfer or the cold transfer from the sophomore year to the junior year. Most people are in the summer transfer from the first year to the second year. Falling, but also giving up the goal, but the longer you hold on, the bigger the door will be.
