Community Activity Proposal | Aging: They Came Before Me and Die Before Me

I hope that through writing, we can get closer to the people we love. Let those weak voices come from the forgotten corners and reunite with more people.

When we were born, our parents were in their prime, but our grandparents were gone. From the moment grandchildren exist in the world, they become old men and old ladies.

In "The Legend of Hulan River", Xiao Hong wrote that when I was born, my grandfather was in his sixties. When I was four or five years old, my grandfather was almost seventy. Seventy or eighty years old. As soon as my grandfather passed eighty, my grandfather died. The time we have intertwined with each other is so short, as if we were born to know them in their twilight years, to appreciate their dying state of life.

We seem to pay little attention to these people who are getting old, or are already getting old, as if they were always like this: either dragging their wrinkled bodies, sitting quietly on the reclining chair by the window, in an incomprehensible dialect Talk about things that don't interest you, or do housework day in and day out, dealing with pots and pans and oil, salt, sauce and vinegar, and consider the family as the base of the meaning of life.

But we shouldn't ignore that they were once as young as you and me. They lived with certain beliefs, or fell into intense ideals and love, had various expectations for the future, and made different struggles in the face of reality. They were not born old, and their stories deserve to be told and heard just as much.

Therefore, the theme of this community event proposal is "Aging". You can write about your parents or grandparents, other elder relatives, or an unfamiliar old man you have only met a few times. Of course, it also includes people who stay in your memory "no longer old", "missing is also a pro".

I hope that through the way of writing, it can bring us closer to the people we love. At the same time, it also allows those weak and continuous oscillating voices to emanate from the forgotten corners of time and reunite with more people.
