Through stories, people meet: "Tongyun Yuko loves short stories" series

At the beginning of the story, Dongyun Yuko is a writer who likes to read and write short stories, but she can't quite grasp the charm of long stories. Perhaps, we can regard the encounter between the hero and heroine as the process of reading and delving into the content of the short story as the owner of the protagonist/perspective. In order to share this relationship with Yuko, in order to solve the problems that the two encountered and faced together, Eita had to seriously look at the world where everyone coexists. This world is the stage that brings together the various character lines and develops a long story.

Human life is very short. It has just begun. After a few waves and turns, it will be silent forever. If you use the literary genre as a metaphor, life is like a short story. However, the content of short stories can be extended beyond novels, and then linked with other short stories to turn into long stories. Human life is like that. A person's life is short, but he always needs others, he needs to step out and connect with the world. And it is our most intimate and fragmented connections that make up a vast, holistic society and history.

As mentioned above, these seemingly serious and heavy thoughts actually come from a "light" novel: "Dongyun Yuko" series. Strange, aren't light novels meant to be simple and easy to read? How can you express these complex and brain-burning content? Below, let us tell you in detail.

Eita Miyami: The Actor Who Can Be Substitute

The male protagonist of the "Toun Yuko" series, Eita Miyabi, is a person with "nothing special". This kind of setting is the tradition of daily light novels, because if the protagonist's personality or ability is too distinct, it will make it difficult for the audience to enter the world experienced from his perspective.

Moreover, Sanbi Yingtai is even more uncharacteristic than the average campus male protagonist. The general male-oriented light novels are mostly faced with the so-called "otaku" readers; therefore, although the male protagonists do not have prominent character traits, they usually have settings such as a love for animation, light novels or video games, etc. Otaku readers feel familiar, and therefore identify with the protagonist. However, the style of the "Dongyun Yuko" series wanders between light novels and popular novels. Influenced by popular literature, the "otaku setting" that is common in light novels by Eita Miyabi has disappeared.

So, what is left of Eita Miyane?

At the beginning of the novel, we can almost use the words "negative" and "susceptible" to sum up the character of Sanhe Eita. Ying Tai is very sensitive, and all kinds of troubles in the external world that have nothing to do with him often cause waves in his heart; however, he does not intend to respond to the changes in the world with any "action". He just wants to stand far away, doesn't need personal content, doesn't want to be involved, doesn't want to be influenced.

At this time, he met Dongyun Yuko.

In Search of the Different: Encounters with Short Stories

At the beginning of the story, Dongyun Yuko is a writer who likes to read and write short stories, but she can't quite grasp the charm of long stories. Perhaps, we can regard the encounter between the hero and heroine as the process of reading and delving into the content of the short story as the owner of the protagonist/perspective.

Why did Yingtai start caring about her? Yingta originally thought: Yuko is the same as herself, who has no interest in doing anything and can't raise enthusiasm. Yuko Dongyun's superficial way of life satisfies Yingta's desire for companionship and understanding. However, Toun Yuko is actually a writer. After experiencing events such as mistaking Yuko's editor for her boyfriend and knowing that she was a writer, Yingtai realized that Yuko was not "different" from herself. This kind of "differentness" really made Yingtai take a step forward and stimulated the hidden emotions in Yingtai's heart; it was only through this that the implicit idea of sympathy and compassion was transformed into a clear and action-oriented concern and pursuit.

Short stories have little information and are full of mystery. Often times, we need to rely on our guesses and pursuits to fill in the blanks; for Yingta, who has little experience with women, the relationship with Yuko Dongyun seems to be the same. But even elusive, short stories have looming foreshadowings that guide the reader through the story. Although Dongyun Yuko is not good at expressing herself, Yingta is fascinated by her, and is deeply fascinated by her purity and her consistency hidden under mystery.

Epilogue

Once Yingta fell into the world of short stories, he had to admit more and more: he couldn't just appreciate the mystery and beauty from afar, he began to yearn to walk into her life, to be recognized by her, to be by her side a fixed seat. This pursuit made Yingtai unable to stay in the original living space. He went out to see more realistic conditions, more subtle but real influences, and a more complicated and unpredictable world. In order to share this relationship with Yuko, in order to solve the problems that the two encountered and faced together, Eita had to seriously look at the world where everyone coexists. This world is the stage that brings together the various character lines and develops a long story.

When we can open ourselves up, the natural development and combination of short stories will surely converge into long stories; this is the conclusion reached by the male protagonist of "Toun Yuko Will Continue to Love All Novels". Or, perhaps, this is the idea that came to the author's mind and encouraged him to complete this series of novels.

By the way, the author of the "Toun Yuko" series, Morihashi Bingo (Morihashi ビンゴ) has been out of the light novel world for 5 years. Fortunately, the "East Cloud Yuko" series was successfully completed in 2012. Here, I also wish Morihashi a smooth journey in his future career after he leaves the light novel world.
