Drunk Dolphin is a very interesting poet and radio enthusiast in mainland China. Excerpted from his answer on Wenzhou people. He has paid WeChat groups and Knowledge Planet.

Wenzhou people are not particularly engaged in business. After all, business in Wenzhou was not the main industry in history.

In the history of Wenzhou, the religious industry was relatively developed. Taoism, Buddhism, Mingjiao, and Christianity are all extremely prosperous.

The number of temples, shrines, Taoist temples and churches in Wenzhou is rare in the world. Even now, the diversity and development of Chinese religious beliefs are still the first in Wenzhou and the second in southern Fujian.

None of these religious beliefs seem to promote business.

Wenzhou once had a period of cultural prosperity. Especially in the Southern Song Dynasty, the number of Jinshi in Wenzhou increased from a few dozen in the Northern Song Dynasty to more than 1,000 in the Southern Song Dynasty, which is the place with the most Jinshi in China, far ahead of other regions. The Southern Song Dynasty was the most prosperous era of Chinese culture, so in terms of cultural heritage, Wenzhou should be a region famous for its cultural development.

From the late Qing Dynasty to the period of the Republic of China, there was a popular saying in Zhejiang Province: "Doing business depends on Ningbo people, lawsuits rely on Shaoxing people, and reading depends on Wenzhou people." The reason for relying on Shaoxing people in the lawsuit is because of the overwhelming advantage of Shaoxing masters in the Chinese staff circle. At that time, Wenzhou people were probably the ones in Zhejiang who didn't know how to do business. In the early days of Beijing University, there were more than a dozen teachers from Wenzhou, including Chen Jieshi, Chen Huai, Lin San, Zhang Xianyou, Sun Yixi, Xu Xuan, Lin Xin, Zhang Weisan, Lun Ming, Zhou Jishan, Gong Shoukang , Gao Yi, Lin Gongren, Huang Gongqi, Lin Tao, etc., the number of Wenzhou people far exceeds the number of teachers in other areas.

Therefore, it is unreasonable in history to say that Wenzhou people have a business tradition or business heritage.

Wenzhou people like to say, "I made money because I used to be poor." Historically, the natural environment of Wenzhou was far inferior to that of Ningbo, Hangjiahu, Shanghai, Southern Jiangsu, Shandong, these great plains, and most areas. Belonging to the middle, not rich, not very poor.

After 1949, Wenzhou became the front line, and islands such as Dongtou, Beiji, Yijiangshan and Dachen Island along the coast of Wenzhou were occupied by the Kuomintang for a long time. Even after the retreat of Dachen Island, Wenzhou is still considered to be the best landing site for the Chinese army to counterattack the mainland: surrounded by mountains on three sides and the sea on the other side, as long as three roads are blown up, the PLA reinforcements will not be able to enter Wenzhou for several days, and occupy the navy The national army with superior air force can quickly turn Wenzhou into a base - not to mention Chiang Kai-shek's hometown Ningbo is nearby.

Therefore, Wenzhou has become the largest military division in China. There are militiamen everywhere in Wenzhou, and there are female militiamen on Dongtou Island. The Central Committee of the Communist Youth League called on members of the Communist Youth League to go to Dachen Island to open up wasteland. However, those large-scale industrial projects and municipal construction, the state does not invest in construction, that is Ready to take Wenzhou as a battlefield. Some schools have also moved to Hangzhou and the mainland.

At that time, the Wenzhou Medical College was kept, and the local medicine in Wenzhou was still developing well. It is said that many medical staff may be needed to fight the war. (So far, Wenzhou has only less tertiary hospitals than Hangzhou, far higher than other cities in the province.)

Therefore, Wenzhou can only become very poor.

In the 1950s, Yongjia farmers were strongly suppressed by the government when they contracted household production. Farmers in Longshan, Ruian, were suppressed by the government. Various private economies were suppressed.

Wenzhou people smelled the blood of money for the first time. Around 1976, Wenzhou people went to various places to buy gold and silver, buy eel fry, and exchange smuggled goods with Japanese and Taiwanese. At its peak, 80 percent of China's smuggled goods came from Wenzhou. Later, the government suppressed smuggling, and the East China Sea Fleet caught smuggling ships, so the smugglers in Wenzhou moved their smuggling bases to Quanzhou, southern Fujian, especially Shishi. ——Most of the ancestors of Wenzhou people are from Quanzhou and Putian generation, so Wenzhou and southern Fujian are actually a cultural circle, and fishermen along the coast of Wenzhou speak the southern Fujian dialect. ——Later, the smuggler of Shishi’s smuggling found the first pot of gold, washed his hands in Jinpen, and changed his career to do some other business, which was also copied from Wenzhou: lighters, shoes, clothing.

Shishi became a smuggling center, from a fishing village to a small town.

The business spirit of Wenzhou people actually originated from smuggling that began in 1976. Of course, maybe it started in 1974 or 1975, but it just hasn't become a reality yet. Even if you dare to do smuggling, what kind of business do you dare not do?

Therefore, it is smuggling that brings brave commercial genes to Wenzhou! The rise of Japan and Taiwan and the planned economy of the mainland made smuggling a huge profit. The official history will not tell you that the first driving force of Wenzhou's economy is smuggling, so you can come to me and listen to the unofficial history.

The manufacturing industry in Wenzhou was first developed in the Tangxia and Xincheng areas between Wenzhou and Ruian, as well as the electrical appliance industry in Liushi, Yueqing. There was a saying at that time: It is better to travel all over the country than under the Xinchangtang. And Ryan's smuggling yard under the shed (yes, that's what it's called) - a river that was filled up and became a gathering point for all kinds of small commodities. The prosperity of the market led to the plan of Ruian Mall, the largest small commodity wholesale market in China at that time with more than 100 acres of land.

In 1982, it began to crack down on criminal crimes in the economic field. Looking at the central government, where is the most developed private economy? Wenzhou. Which town in Wenzhou is the most typical? Willow City! Therefore, taking Liushi as a typical example, the "eight kings" of Liushi were arrested (there was a king who escaped and disappeared, and Charlotte still does not know his life or death). In just two months, more than 1,000 businessmen in Wenzhou were arrested, thousands of People absconded, a large number of businessmen closed their businesses and hid, GDP dropped by half, and more than 100 innocent small businessmen were sentenced to prison. Immediately after that, they caught the Yueqing Trade Fair for financing (that is, the version of Ezubao of that year). A group of first offenders were sentenced to death, and a large number of backbones were sentenced to prison.

At that time in Wenzhou, chickens were flying and dogs were jumping, the wind was roaring, and there was a depression. The situation is filled with grief, and the vegetation changes color.

At this time, someone remembered an old leader who worked in Wenzhou more than ten years ago, that is, one of the "two and a half people in Zhejiang" who was personally named and criticized by Chairman Mao for privatization during the Cultural Revolution. He was a leader in Yiwu, so he found This person suggested to start a small commodity market in Yiwu. As a result, those small traders who were being tracked down and arrested in Wenzhou were in a constant state of panic, and they set up sheds in Yiwu, replicating Ruian's smuggling field under the shed.

The formation of the Yiwu Small Commodity Market is rooted in the "severe crackdown on criminal activities in the economic field" in 1982. It seems that this kind of thing is not recorded in the official history, you can only listen to my unofficial history.

Wenzhou wanted to build an airport, but the central government did not approve it. Later, the local government made a tentative announcement, and the rice was cooked.

Wenzhou wanted to build a railway (this is an important railway in the plan of the Great Eastern Port in Sun Yat-sen's Outline of Founding of the People's Republic of China, but it was only 80 years too late). ——There are many shares of Nan Huaijin in the middle.

Wenzhou wanted a flight route, but the airline didn't open it, so Wang Junyao contracted some routes by himself and established the Juneyao Charter Flight Company.

The switch factory had a low status, and the chairman of the board handled matters in the town, so the switch factory in Yueqing invited some retired department-level cadres to be the secretary of the party committee or the director of the office. This will prevent them from being bullied by township cadres.

In short, there are basically no good opportunities for starting a business in Wenzhou. All the good opportunities in China are given to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

When Wenzhou becomes a little richer, the bosses will emigrate. Therefore, the larger enterprises, most of them went abroad.

Therefore, Wenzhou is now a left-behind empty city. Businessmen from Wenzhou travel around the world.

They're not particularly good at doing business, they're just struggling to survive. Forced to earn money to achieve their dignity.

===================================================== ========

Wenzhou in history is a special place suitable for population extinction. The main reason is the typhoon.

There are several fixed routes for typhoons, and the biggest typhoon in China always likes to run to Wenzhou.

Wenzhou in history did not have as many plains as it is today. Today's Daluo Mountain in Wenzhou, Sanyang Wetland, used to be the sea. Xie Lingyun was the prefect of Wenzhou and often sailed around the strait, so there was a place called sail tour. Now the Yangfu Mountain in Wenzhou Xincheng District used to be an island. The largest plain in Wenzhou is the one surrounding Mount Tailuo, and none of these plains existed before. Now it is said that Wenzhou is divided into seven mountains, one water and two fields. Two thousand years ago, the area of the plain was only a small part of the sea, less than 5%, and the rest were mountainous islands.

Therefore, when a typhoon arrives, the people on the seashore are washed away by the high sea water, and the mountain is washed away by the flash flood. Every typhoon can always kill a lot of people, and southern Fujian is a great plain, with a good climate, raising people, and being a high-ranking official in the Central Plains. The main refuge to escape the war, the swollen population has been pouring into the vacant cultivated land in Wenzhou due to the typhoon's extinction of the population. If you look up the Wenzhou genealogy, 80% of today's Wenzhou people have ancestors from southern Fujian - most of them are descendants of the middle and upper classes who fled the war and went to southern Fujian. In those days, those who were able to flee and immigrate were also rich people, and the poor basically sat and waited to die when they encountered wars. The cultural tradition of these people still wants to be an official, and not many are really willing to do business. Of course, there are occasional exceptions. For example, Boss Huang, the richest man in Fujian, who donated his mansion to the monk as Kaiyuan Temple, is considered a businessman. His descendants are called descendants of Ziyun, and there are also a large group of people in Wenzhou.

In the second year of Songgandao, Wenzhou experienced the largest flood in history, and it is said that more than half of Wenzhou people died. Then many Hokkien people came to immigrate. At that time, southern Fujian was the center of evasion for the dignitaries and nobles in the Central Plains. It was the place where the Chinese were most enthusiastic about the imperial examination. These people also brought the imperial examination culture to Wenzhou. Wenzhou originally had many academies opened by the Yongjia School. Scholars began to be keen on fame, so Wenzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty jumped to become the region with the most jinshi in China, even more than Quanzhou and Putian.

At the same time, the Hokkien people also brought Chen Shishi belief, Mazu belief, Ming religion belief, Yang Chen Erfu belief. The migration of Hokkien people from the Song Dynasty was slow, and the dialect of Wenzhou did not change. After the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the transportation was convenient, and many Hokkien people were brought in at once. Therefore, nearly one million people in Wenzhou can speak Hokkien – but they speak Hokkien dialect in northern Fujian. There are almost none, because although Wenzhou is close to northern and eastern Fujian, culturally, it is integrated with southern Fujian.

Wenzhou City was full of ghosts from the very beginning. The designer from Wenzhou is famous: Guo Pu, the founder of Fengshui. Guo Pu is Xu Xun's good friend (that is, Xu Xun, the one who ascended to heaven). Xu Xun took his nephew Xu Mai to cultivate in Wenzhou and invited Guo Pu to have a Hi (I guess they often took drugs together and exchanged the latest drugs.) Hearing that the world's number one feng shui master is coming, the officials of Wenzhou asked him to plan the construction of Wenzhou city.

As a wizard or scientist, Guo Pu is very strict in his work. In order to judge whether the city should be built in Jiangnan or Jiangbei, he took soil samples from various points in Jiangnan and Jiangbei, dried and crushed it, measured the weight of the soil, and calculated its density. The soil has a high specific gravity and is suitable for building cities. According to the positions of those small hills and hills, nine were selected and arranged for the Big Dipper array - ancient Chinese astronomers believed that the Big Dipper was nine (seven present and two hidden), not seven. Then, according to Twenty-Eight Constellation, they found water sources and dug wells in Wenzhou City, and coupled with some serious water conservancy and transportation planning, the city was created.

Therefore, since ancient times, Wenzhou has been surrounded by fairy spirits (it can also be said that the wind is blowing). Later, Manichaeism spread to China and became Mingjiao, and Wenzhou and southern Fujian became the most prosperous areas of Mingjiao. Later, a crippled and disabled missionary came from England, and Su Huilian (the mentor of Lin Huiyin, Fairbank and others) came to Wenzhou to preach, and another missionary, Dr. Barry De, went to Wenzhou to run Barre De Hospital, which soon transformed Wenzhou into a missionary. It has become the place with the most Christians in China. According to statistics in 1949, 10% of all Chinese Christians were in Wenzhou. Later, during the Cultural Revolution, religion went underground, and countless Wenzhou Christians secretly preached all over the country, so Westerners called Wenzhou "Jerusalem of China".

Daluo Mountain in Wenzhou is the place where Hongyi retreated for ten years to cultivate the law. On Daluo Mountain, there is also Fuhu Temple, the holy land of Shurangama sect of Master Yu’an, Shengshou Zen Temple, a thousand-year-old temple, Tianzhu Temple in Jin Dynasty, and famous Xiangshan Temple. In its heyday, there were hundreds of temples on a small mountain temple. Even the Jiangxin Temple in the urban area is one of the top ten Zen temples (although the area is very small). On the Songtai Mountain in the city center, there is Yongjia Master Xuanjue (that is, he walked around Huineng three times on crutches and asked where did he come from? Where did the monk go) the stupa courtyard. Taoist priest Lin Lingsu's Taoist temple and tomb still exist today.

Ancient Wenzhou had a large number of Taoist caves and blessed places:

Huagai Mountain, Taoshan Mountain, Da Ruoyan, Daluo Mountain Xianyan Sanhuangjing, Yueqing Baixi Xianko Mountain,

In addition, Taizhou Yuliu Mountain, Qingyu Mountain, Lingxu Mountain, Simahui Mountain, Xixianyuan, Dongxianyuan, Gaizhu Mountain, Chicheng Cave, Weiyushan Cave, Qingtian Dahetian, and Kuocangshan Cave, which were previously owned by Wenzhou .

Chen Shishi Niangniang, a master of Lushan School who is not famous in other places (according to the current saying, just a big witch...), evolved in the north of Wenzhou into a "Southern Journey" in Wenzhou drum lyrics, Bigger The biography of King Saar is much richer. The singing is only in the temple, and there are countless Taoist rituals. It is a grand religious ceremony in dozens of villages in the surrounding townships.

At the beginning, there was Liu Bowen, who knew five hundred years ago and then five hundred years later. He was also a native of Wenzhou.

Therefore, it is not an exaggeration to say that Wenzhou is a place full of fairy spirits and gusty winds.

All of these, Wenzhou's traditional imperial examination culture and traditional religious beliefs really do not have the slightest commercial flavor.

===================================================== ========

In the tradition of Wenzhou people, there is no habit of worshipping businessmen.

The ancestral halls in Wenzhou do not have the status of merchants at all.

Wenzhou has Wen Tianxiang's ancestral temple, Dongouwang Temple, and a memorial hall for Mr. Shuixin Ye Shi. There is Liu Bowen's ancestral hall. But there is no merchant's ancestral hall. In Guangdong, you will see many gods related to doing business and making money: Marshal Zhao, the God of Wealth, Guandi Temple, and Lucky Boys, but these are not popular in Wenzhou, but Wenchang Pavilion has a higher status. Wenzhou people hardly have Guan Gong and the God of Wealth at home.

The Four Sages Temple in Ruian is dedicated to four people: Zhuo Jing, Chen Fuliang, Gao Zecheng and Xu Jingheng. They promote academics, integrity, integrity, and meritorious deeds, but they have nothing to do with businessmen and rich people.

People in Wenzhou know that Ye Yonglie is a Wenzhou writer, but they will not remember that Ye Yonglie's father was a financial tycoon who owned four banks during the Republic of China.

A few Wenzhou people also know Song Shu, but no one cares that Song Shu's family once owned thousands of acres of fertile land.

Wenzhou people miss Sun Yirang because he is a scholar and an educator who has run a lot of schools, not because he and Zhang Qian partnered to open the Shanghai Steamer Company, or because he also serves as the chairman of the Wenzhou General Chamber of Commerce - that's right, Sun Yirang Indeed the president of the Chamber of Commerce.

Even today, the status of Wenzhou businessmen is not very high.

For example, few people in Wenzhou know that the founders of Vipshop are from Wenzhou.

Few people care that Xie Shihuang, the second-in-command of Alibaba, who started the business with Jack Ma, is from Wenzhou.

With so many rich bosses, who cares about you?

In Wenzhou's folk culture, even now, it is not very business-oriented. Many businessmen look to the next generation to be a civil servant or learn, rather than making a fortune in business.

Rich people let their children learn talents and go abroad to study, but they rarely teach them how to manage and invest from an early age.

Therefore, even today, when there are Wenzhou businessmen everywhere, Wenzhou people do not think that being a big businessman is a great person.

Therefore, Wenzhou really does not have any cultural genes of heavy business.

===================================================== ===========

Wenzhou people also have advantages.

First, it is the unique dialect structure of Wenzhou. The language of Wenzhou can be roughly divided into Ou (Wenzhou dialect), Hokkien, Manhua and Manspeaking, and Dajing dialect which is close to Taizhou dialect in northern Yueqing. In addition, there are also a small number of people who speak Jinxiang dialect (the ones left by Qi Jiguang's army in Jinxiangwei, close to Wu dialect and cannot communicate with Wenzhou dialect), Pu Zhuang dialect (the words left by Qi Jiguang's troops in Pu Zhuang, and the southern Fujian outside the city) The language is completely incomprehensible, and it is impossible to communicate with Wenzhou dialect). In addition, there are many She nationality people who speak their She Hakka dialect, and many She nationality people speak Hakka dialect. Very few people speak Aung San dialect.

Even the Wenzhou dialect, which is the majority, has a completely different accent. The standard pronunciation of Wenzhou dialect used to be based on Ruian urban area or Taoshan next to the urban area. Now some people regard the words in Wenzhou City, Lucheng District, Wenzhou as the standard of Wenzhou dialect. Although Wenzhou City and Ruian City are only 35 kilometers apart, there is actually a huge difference in accents, and some vocabulary is completely different. For example, in Mandarin "here, there", Wenzhou city says: Lei, Buda. Ryan said Hao, Gao. For dinner, the urban area of Wenzhou says Ci Va, and the people of Ruian say Qi wo. Even Ryan's accent changes within a few kilometers after leaving the city. Therefore, as long as you are from Wenzhou, you can generally determine which county, which district, or even which township you are from as soon as you speak.

Accent distinction is high, and the advantage is that the acquaintance society is extremely developed. As soon as others hear your accent, they will inquire about your social network. Every Wenzhou person is in an extremely tight network. This requires Wenzhou people to carefully manage their relationships in the network, maintain human relations, Build a good reputation and credit.

This relationship makes it easier for Wenzhou people to borrow money for financing. The cooperation of the villagers is also more credible. Because once you lose your trust, your entire reputation will collapse in the entire Wenzhou network, and it will be difficult to make a comeback. Therefore, Wenzhou people have stronger reputation than other regions in terms of borrowing money and cooperation.

Therefore, without the support of the government's financial industry, there are countless ancient financial industries in Wenzhou. It is very common to present conferences, carry conferences, and guarantee usury. Almost everyone in the previous generation of Wenzhou people had a few conferences. If you have borrowed private loans with an annual interest rate of 10% to 36%, if you have a little savings, you will find various reliable channels for higher interest loans. Although countless Wenzhou private financiers were imprisoned and executed for illegal fundraising and other charges, they still emerged one after another.

Another benefit brought by the acquaintance society is that one person has a success model that others can copy and follow, which can quickly occupy a vertical field. For example, there are many people in Wenzhou who open electrical and pneumatic accessories stores across the country. The trademark printing industry of that year, the lighter industry, the button industry, and the shoe industry are all typical examples. When a field is large, all kinds of supporting facilities are complete. For example, as the shoe industry grows, there will be various shoe material markets, shoe machine markets, and a large number of shoe workers, and will have scale competitiveness. The great development of electrical appliances in Yueqing has driven Huangyan Road and Bridge in Linxian County to become a mold industry base, and the development of the mold industry has made Yueqing's electrical appliances more competitive.

Most Wenzhou people of the previous generation were poorly educated. Most of the post-60s and post-70s in big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai graduated from junior high school. Many early township entrepreneurs in Wenzhou usually only had a third or fourth grade of primary school. No way, Wenzhou has never had the opportunity to get the benefits of the national government.

The early entrepreneurs in Wenzhou were accumulated by extreme savings and diligence. Even in Wenzhou in the 1980s, even for ordinary workers, it was common for one person to work two or three jobs at the same time. In Beijing in the 1980s, breakfast shops usually didn't open until 8 o'clock, and breakfast shops in Wenzhou opened at 4 o'clock.

Wenzhou has never enjoyed the benefits given by the government to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, nor has it enjoyed government subsidies to poor places. Basically a bunch of resigned people. Therefore, Wenzhou people are very resigned and do not complain about the government. For example, in Typhoon No. 17 in 1994, thousands of people died and hundreds of thousands of houses collapsed in Wenzhou. No one went to the government for assistance. They all rely on themselves and their relatives and friends to help each other. Hundreds of kilometers of coastal dykes were almost completely destroyed in that typhoon. Even though this kind of infrastructure, which should have been funded by the country, did not trouble the government, the villagers raised their own money and contributed and quickly repaired the dykes.

The acquaintance society of Wenzhou people makes it difficult for Wenzhou people to betray the group. Once they lose the trust of their network, they have no chance. This kind of binding relationship is very important for activities such as smuggling. Therefore, Wenzhou can rely on smuggling to make a fortune, and it can allow almost every household in some coastal villages to pool money to do smuggling business. There is even a case of a brigade of smuggling police being besieged by thousands of villagers, tied up and thrown on the beach.

Another manifestation of the society of acquaintances is grouping with foreign countries, such as group fights in the army. If there is a fight between Wenzhou soldiers and foreigners in a certain army, the Wenzhou soldiers who are 200 kilometers away may be gathered to fight in groups in just a few hours-even if they do not know each other, as long as they are fellows, they will help first.

This kind of self-protection relationship of fellow villagers also happened in Prado, Italy. Prado is a city that has been economically occupied by Wenzhou people. A large group of Wenzhou small bosses have bought Italian companies that are on the verge of bankruptcy, hired illegal immigrants, and worked in the Wenzhou tradition of working 100 hours a week. But many North African Muslims (Wenzhou people call them half black to distinguish them from all black Africans) are accustomed to making troubles in Europe. The Italian police and French police are equally incompetent. Facing the high crime rate of Muslims, the Wenzhou people do this: Black to black, ruthless to ruthless, on the one hand, Wenzhou has a good relationship with the Italian Mafia, and on the other hand, Wenzhou people have formed their own self-defense organizations to violently expel and threaten some North African Muslims in Prado, caught stealing, robbery, sexual harassment Half-black Muslims are beaten hard. If you encounter a sneaky half-black Muslim, go to check.

Such an organization is defined by Italy as a triad. For example, a Wenzhouese patrol called the White Deer Association was arrested and examined by the Italian police as a triad. The meaning of the White Deer Association is very clear - Wenzhou is also known as White Deer City.

Italian police also frequently go to Prado factories to arrest illegal immigrant workers. Wenzhou people set up a WeChat group for mutual assistance. As soon as they found that the police had entered the village, they immediately notified everyone. Therefore, the Italian police did not have many chances to catch people.

But clashes with lower-class Italian workers, Italian police, and Muslim immigrants could be protracted. Once there was a conflict, several Wenzhou people even rushed to the street to hold banners and chanted slogans: Get out of the Prado, Italians! - This is indeed a bit excessive.

Wenzhou's unique language and culture, unique network of acquaintances, has advantages in foreign affairs. For example, if you buy a switch electrical pneumatic component in an electrical appliance store in a certain city, if the store owner is from Wenzhou, you can speak Wenzhou dialect to him directly. Because Wenzhou people cheat on Wenzhou people, they will be excluded from the cooperation circles of Wenzhou people in various places.

The group spirit of Wenzhou people may not be in line with what some people think of as "modern social civilization". But it works. At least, those Muslim hooligans that the Italian police can't deal with would have caused a lot of trouble if there was no such grouping of Wenzhou people.

Wenzhou people's enterprises in Italy never abide by Italian labor laws. Wenzhou people think that Italians are lazy and stupid. Italians who are only willing to work 35 hours a week are obviously uncompetitive in the face of Wenzhou people who work 100 hours a week. The Italian government may be able to strengthen labor laws or close these sweatshops, but once the sweatshops are closed, taxes and employment opportunities will plummet, so they can only turn a blind eye.

All Wenzhou people who start a business are very hard. People from Beijing and Shanghai were born with a golden key, and people from Wenzhou were born with Huanglian. Wenzhou is a city where railways, airports, bridges, dams, and universities all require local folks to raise money. But Beijing City is a privileged place where thousands of factories in Hebei can be closed because of the smog. Beijingers don't have to raise their own funds to build airports, railways, universities, national libraries, Olympic villages, museums, and subways. Everything is done by the central government.

Wenzhou does not have enough land, but some people want to invest in real estate in their hometown even if they are away from home. Therefore, Wenzhou's housing prices have ranked first in China for five consecutive years. Later, Wenzhou's housing prices were cut in half, and the housing price ranking became North, Shenzhen, Wenguang.

It is not accidental that Wenzhou people love to speculate. When Wenzhou people find out that the housing prices of those big cities with public facilities that are dozens of times better than Wenzhou are lower than Wenzhou, they will naturally feel that these houses are too cheap and cannot be restrained without investment.

Therefore, most of the new generation of Wenzhou people have left Wenzhou. Some of them moved to Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou with their parents when they went to kindergarten. Some went to study in big cities after primary school. Others went to university to graduate or study abroad. Not many returned to Wenzhou. Because Wenzhou is, after all, a place that has neither resources nor any state to take care of, it has been suppressed by various means—whether it was the contracting of production to households in the 1950s, or the arrest of the Eight Kings and the Yueqing Association in the 1980s , rectify illegal financing.

===================================================== ======

The subject's statement that "Wenzhou's population holds more property on average" may not be correct. Because the richest Wenzhou people moved to first-tier cities on a large scale more than ten years ago, or even twenty years ago. Others stay all over the world because of business. But the rich people who stay in Wenzhou are really not many.

Those Wenzhou businessmen who moved to big cities can only say they are businessmen from Wenzhou. Their next generation may be native Beijingers and Shanghainese, who can't even speak Wenzhou dialect.

To make matters worse, in elementary schools in Wenzhou, Wenzhou dialect is not even allowed. The new generation of children, even if they grow up in Wenzhou, do not speak Wenzhou dialect. On Wenzhou Street, the proportion of foreigners is almost higher than that of locals. Ye Yonglie said: As soon as I came back to Wenzhou, I didn't know Lu, and when I asked for directions, those passersby didn't understand Wenzhou dialect, nor did they know the way.

Maybe in another 100 years, Wenzhou dialect will disappear completely, including other small Wenzhou dialects like Jinxiang dialect, Pu Zhuang dialect, Manhua and other rare languages spoken by only a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of people in the world. .

At that time, there was probably no Wenzhou culture. The descendants of those Wenzhou people may have many wealthy businessmen inherited from the class, but they have completely lost the Wenzhou culture. Just like today's Wenzhou people, most of them can only find their ancestors from southern Fujian from the genealogy.
