It is worth writing it down while there is still a little memory in our minds, otherwise we will forget that, on July 1st, civil society once had such an operation.

This section of the road from Victoria Park to the Government Headquarters, about three subway stations away, is believed to be familiar to many Hong Kong people, and they have tried to walk on their feet more or less. When I was still working on Hong Kong Island, it was common to walk three times a month.

Over the past few years, on July 1st, on this section of the road, the car has always disappeared temporarily. The Civil Human Rights Front (FDC), which is composed of numerous civil society groups, will organize demonstrations on this day and continue to strive for various political and social demands.

Over the years, although the form of the parade has become ceremonial, many more radical protesters will question the effectiveness of the parade, but it has to be denied that the parade provides a platform for civic groups working in various fields. , have the opportunity to reach out to the public, present the results of their work and facilitate communication. In addition to being occupied by many angry people, the parade route was also full of street stations of different groups. A hundred flowers bloomed, and it was also an important scenery in the parade.

The application for the July 1st parade in 2020 was rejected due to the so-called epidemic prevention arrangement, and the FDC had no choice but to announce its dissolution under the red line of the vicious law. Last year, other civic groups tried to take over the baton and continued to apply for a march on July 1st, but they were also rejected. The civil society marches on July 1, so silently, became history.

As mentioned in yesterday's article, in the past few years on July 1, I have also been assisting the operation of the group's street station, so I see the parade from the perspective of squatting in the same position, watching the parade marching from a distance, like a tidal wave After that, until the tail of the dragon is gone, the cars will reappear one after another. The parade is no more, and I have no identity to work on this day, but I am still a little unaccustomed to it, but I can't bear to stay at home like this.

So, I decided to take this road again on this day, as a continuation of a little bit.

A short walk from Exit E of Causeway Bay MTR Station to the entrance of Victoria Park Fountain Zhi, etc., important figures of the political party, basically appear here, shouting political comments, and calling on the public to participate in the parade. On this day, the security force of the public security was not as tight as it was on May 35th, but there were no all kinds of shouting, and it was no different from the daily scene.

In the past, many citizens would jump in line to join the parade route, but many people insisted on entering the football field in Victoria Park to wait for the start. It is said that it is related to the statistics of the number of people in the parade. After all, it is midsummer, and when there are sunny days, some parade officials can't bear it before they set off. In the last few years of the 2010s, the Victoria Park Football Stadium was rented by other groups at the Qiyi Association, and the parade had to be relocated to the central lawn. Although the central lawn can still accommodate a large number of citizens, the passage back to the main road from there is extremely narrow, resulting in unnecessary bottle necks.

On this day, the Victoria Garden was also rented by people of insight for the so-called celebration of the return of the motherland. Some furnishings were placed in the venue for people to punch in. However, due to the approaching typhoon and the wind and rain, no one visited at all, and the football field was left with only the blown iron horse formation and guarding security guards, which was very deserted.

Due to the large number of participants, the July 1st parade usually arranges to pass through Causeway Road instead of directly using Sugar Street to exit Causeway Bay. It quickly passed the bottle necks that often appear during the parade - the Regal Hotel and Sogo Department Store. The section of Causeway Bay used to be a street station for major political parties. Naoba of the political party could no longer be seen, and the speeches of politicians could not be heard. Only vehicles were left in the river.

From Percival Street all the way to Wan Chai, there are places where civic groups can set up street stops. Originally, civic groups that wanted to set up a station had to notify the FDC for coordination, but some political parties that hated the old pan-democrats had no intention of abiding by these agreements. All the groups that had planned the space utilization of the street station lost their budget. During the period of setting up the street station and waiting for the arrival of the parade crowd, there will always be some friendly people running around. After a few chats, they each continue to work hard for their own group; People, take advantage of this less hurried moment to read the leaflet carefully. All this, whether it be strife or greeting, is naturally not seen in the streets without a procession.

Trams are a unique landscape on Hong Kong Island, and this parade route also overlaps with tram tracks in many places. On July 1, 2003, there were already citizens on the tram to display the propaganda of the downfall. On July 1 in recent years, although there were plans to completely stop the tram services in the relevant areas, there were also attempts to allow the trams to continue running intermittently. The double-decker tram is also a good location for filming the crowds of the parade, and there is occasional interaction between the parade and the tram passengers. Without the parade, trams will naturally be able to maintain normal services. Many trams have also posted advertisements related to the celebration of the return of the motherland. Even if an organization sponsors free rides, it will not help increase the passenger capacity.

This section of the road from Causeway Bay to Admiralty can be completed in less than an hour under normal conditions. Crossing the Xiagui Road, where many people still dare not set foot again, is the end of the imitation parade route. Along the way, I recalled the various events of the July 1st parade over the years. Although there are elements of reminiscence, it is worth writing down while there is still a little memory in my mind. Otherwise, we will forget it over time. There has been such an operation.

Passing through Tamar Park, where many foreign domestic helpers are having a picnic, and continuing to walk along the coast to Central, the open space is full of tourist cars with advertisements for celebrating the return , As a result, many people wearing red masks and not speaking Cantonese were left to punch in and take pictures in front of the red lanterns on the flyover leading to the Central Pier, but even the fare was eroded.

Although the object that should feel the wind and rain the most, left quickly before the rain belt arrived in Hong Kong, but through the wind and rain, the sky still dragged some of the songs and dances that were piled up with money. It can be regarded as an explanation.
