King of Summer | Build a cabin with friends and live in the forest

If I don't write this again, I feel like summer is coming to an end.

In fact, summer has just begun, but I feel that the weather is slowly getting colder, and autumn and winter are coming soon. When I was riding a bicycle this morning, when I stopped at the intersection and waited for the traffic light, I suddenly remembered the pity Yoshimoto Banana felt when she saw the banana blossoms wither: how pitiful it is for the plants from the warm land to die in such a cold Japan.

I had to find a way to get myself back to the soft summer before it got cooler, so I watched a lot of summer movies. What I want to share today is the last one, "Summer King".

The director of "King of Summer" is Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who is good at comedy, and later directed "You're the Worst" (You're the Worst), if you like this show, then watch " King of Summer may also be more favorable.

The film tells the story of three boys who run away from home and run to the forest to build a cabin, it's that simple.

I feel that the heroine in the film is no different from all the heroines of teen movies, even the standard ones in teen movies: a blond little beauty, a school girl, disappointed with her former boyfriend, and then chooses to go on an adventure with the hero. This is entirely the man's imagination.

The female role in "King of Summer" is even worse. Kelly, a girl of the same age as the heroine, plays the role of "woman" and "mother" in the film. Her original intention was to persuade the three male protagonists to go home, but her arrival disrupted the order of the forest cabin: as a "woman", she was the object of competition between the male protagonist and his good friend; as a "mother", she wanted to persuade the male protagonist When the Lord returns home, he is on the side of morality and the side of the adult world.

Perhaps it is not necessary to say that she is a "heroine". A beautiful girl is just a "supporting role" and embellishment in a youth film. She is the boy's crush, a small turning point in their life, and a small wave.

At the age of thirteen or fourteen, I want to escape from my parents and family, and escape from all the unhappiness around me. Who has never had such a dream. When I was in junior high school, I almost ran away from home, but now that I think about it, it is a pity that I didn't do it. But at that time there was no forest for me to leave. I could only sleep on a bench in the park, thinking about running away with my schoolbag, and subconsciously thinking that I had to go to school and finish the homework assigned by the teacher.

The school should also run away. The teachers and classmates who bullied me are still alive, so I should run away far away. If we can meet again in this life, we should see each other at the funeral.

In short, I have not had such a colorful runaway experience, and even my imagination is barren. Thinking that PeopleSoft was faced with a 50 yuan graduation certificate, he could decide "it's too expensive, I don't want it", and I thought that this might also be a person who has been building a wooden house in the forest.

We are too afraid of the world we once longed to escape, even if we don’t know what to fear. But it may be like the little elephant in the fable, who was chained to a stake when he was young, and suffered a lot because he was too weak to break free. When I grow up a little, I finally have the strength to break free from the bondage, but I no longer resist.

How brave are the young people in the movie who choose to break free from the shackles and break into the forest. As long as they make a choice for the first time, as long as there is any possibility in the future, they will jump without hesitation. The forest is free, the law is their own. The life in the wooden house may be more worthwhile than in the past ten years, even if there are differences in the middle, Joe is left alone to guard a nearly collapsed dream. But he seemed to really understand the nature of the place he longed for, and was adapting in another way.

More than ten minutes at the end of the film seems to be a reward for the audience who has waited so patiently for so long. In contrast to Kelly and his father, Joe is so familiar with nature. The camaraderie he had missed came back as he tackled the venomous snake in his own natural way. Biaggio, who had left, returned to the cabin to rescue his partner, but was bitten by a poisonous snake. It was too late to explain the contradictions and problems between Joe, Kelly and their father who had just met. The three raced against time to send Biaggio to the hospital for rescue. This section is blooming everywhere, one after another.

In this way, Joe went home, and he also cleared his quarrel with his friends and father. The cabin in the forest was still quiet, and I felt a sense of loss in my heart. This adventure ended here, and the dream was finished for a moment.

But maybe living in the forest all the time will also get bored, and want to find another forest, a deeper and less traveled place. Or bounce back completely, start craving everything the city has to offer, and then move back. So it's better to stop here, the wooden house is still there, the mailbox in front of the door is still useful, and maybe I will write letters there in the future.
