【Chat】The heartfelt "Can't write it?" 》
Because of Taiwan's level-3 alert, my screenwriting work has been delayed for a long time. In the past two months, my life has been simple and anxious (see the three-minute hot June day for details). In addition to the idea of graduation production, I also started to operate Other writing platforms off-site to keep yourself busy.
However, recently, because I have seen many people recommending the Japanese drama "Can't Write? The screenwriter Keisuke Yoshimaru's Life Without Plots made me curious to look for it, but not only was it entertained, but many of the plots seemed familiar and unbelievable, which is very suitable for people who usually work in writing and creation to watch. (Except for the first and last two episodes, each episode is 30 minutes, a total of eight episodes. There is no burden to catch up.)
"Can't write it? "With the warmth, family, and inspirational routines common in Japanese dramas, it tells the life of the unnamed screenwriter Keisuke Yoshimaru. Yoshimaru usually works as a house-husband at home, taking care of the housework for a pair of children and a famous writer's wife, but one day a TV producer suddenly called and asked him to urgently take over the work of a prime-time TV drama writer, in order to prevent his career as a screenwriter. Ruined, Yoshimaru bravely created this 10-episode TV series by himself (and had to film and broadcast it), which caused great physical and mental stress to him who had never created independently.
To be honest, I am completely a screenwriter. Although I have experience in screenwriting work, I was still in the development stage before, and I would not have the situation of rushing drafts day and night. Although the current case is about to start shooting, I am just a team. The co-screenwriters here are less likely to have face-to-face conflicts with supervisors, directors, producers, etc., nor do they have to hold meetings or read messages every day.
However, I am not completely without this experience, because I used to have to write a story outline of at least 3,000 words every week in the classroom of an industry teacher (see the wall-slamming period of the Nth edition ), and in the In the classroom, I was constantly questioned and denied by teachers and students, which lasted for about eight months.
It was a state of extreme self-loathing and exhaustion of body and mind. After several days of writing, rewriting, and rewriting, I would delete and rewrite the whole article the day before the manuscript was submitted, and then finish writing the story at a high density for six consecutive hours, just because I wrote about myself. The things that came out lacked self-confidence, and the excellent writing of some classmates in the class also became one of the sources of pressure for me. After all, the teacher never hesitated to praise and criticize everyone. It is really clear at a glance who is talented, who is creative, and who has perseverance. .
Based on the above, the character design of the protagonist Jimaru Keisuke is indeed very close to ordinary creators. From his hallucinations and seeing the demon "bald-headed man", to the daily encounters with producers, directors, actors, and even family members, it is the history of blood and tears as a screenwriter. Situations like handing over the script for the next episode the day after tomorrow are definitely based on real events. This high-pressure and stressful working state must be the life of many professional screenwriters, and the psychological state of inferiority and anxiety is definitely a daily question and answer for many novice screenwriters.
Although "Can't Write? "The process of rushing the draft is a little smooth, and the support and encouragement of the famous writer's wife is really OP! (I won't say how many creators don't have the support of their family.) But the protagonist's pursuit of the meaning of his own existence is really inspiring, and this setting is also reflected in the script written in his play, there is really a kind of recovery of creation. Original inspiration.
Finally, I would like to say that the seniors or producers at the general proposal meeting will not like to shoot related stories of film and television practitioners. First, the audience is limited, and second, the layout is small, so the film about directors, screenwriters or other positions , TV dramas are really few and far between. But also because of this, "Can't Write? ” is really a relatively rare work. If you want to understand how a TV series was born, I highly recommend everyone to watch it.
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
