Contact lenses are my prosthesis
I have been nearsighted since elementary school. I also know the reason. I hide under the covers to read books, draw pictures, write novels, get too close to the TV, and spend too much time on mobile phones, but which of today's children is not like this. The rapid development of the screen is always dizzying.
Until I was diagnosed with myopia, I still couldn't believe that something like this in myself, this organ that had always belonged to me freely, was not free at all. I felt very sad, like I was seriously ill and suddenly declared disabled, while I was in a lively and active adolescence, and it seemed like I had suffered a huge blow, and I have been unhappy ever since.
It seems that I still have no way to accept a metal frame over my eyes. It clearly gives a hint: You have lost, and you must rely on this guy's assistance to regain the freedom to see the world. I hate this cold sarcasm, but I hate myself more because I ruined it all. The self-loathing of adolescence, and often this part, is stacked together and weighs teenage girls overwhelmed.
Then I learned about the existence of contact lenses and was ecstatic. But parents are less willing to risk their children than wearing a bulky but visible object. Invisibility, as scary as it sounds, is exactly what I want, and I hope it will set me free, or even closer to it. After much negotiation, my mother finally promised me that when I turned eighteen, I would make my own decisions, and I could choose contact lenses, or everything else that was not allowed.
It can also be said that the choice of contact lenses was one of the hallmarks of my growing up, because it really made me feel closer to freedom, to see the world freely, like when I was a child reading, drawing, and writing novels while hiding under the covers , like I've never lost it - the illusion would have continued if it weren't for the need to remove contact lenses before going to bed.
Why am I able to accept contact lenses because they are more natural and smarter than framing eyes without burying a pair of eyes behind a thick sheet of glass. And the pair of glass lenses, often portrayed as a symbol of bulkiness, a "thick wine bottle bottom," doesn't seem to be justifiable either. But contact lenses are different. It takes a risk and improves vision by inserting it. It sounds dangerous, but it is also very tempting.
It seems worthwhile for one to regain the freedom to see the world. But I think back to the first time I wore contact lenses, it wasn't "so much".
This choice is very risky. Even though some people have already made up their minds, they are hindered by this in the end, and they are discouraged. Safe again.
I did a lot of homework at the time and happily bought my first pair of contact lenses online, but I still couldn't put them on and I didn't dare to put them in my eyes. After repeated attempts and failures, I felt that this guy who seemed to have been wronged for many years was rejecting and resisting. Although he was unwilling, he still gave up.
Later, I saw that others had similar experiences, saying that they went to the physical store to find a professional person to guide and wear them until they learned it. It worked, I've had contact lenses since then, and it's been four or five years now and it's been going well. If I don't need to take it off before going to bed, I often ignore it, feeling that these eyes are not borrowed from anyone, but are born free and belong to me, as if I have never lost them.
Contact lenses are my smart prosthetic limbs - the prosthetic limbs are installed on the body, and only need to be identified and explained when necessary. It is almost indistinguishable from the real and natural ones, and the functions are the same; the term "contact lenses" seems to Still not smart enough, it is based on "glasses" and "frame glasses", which is an auxiliary tool used to cover up the original, natural, even if it has long been dead and abolished.
If you really want to break it down, contact lenses don't count as prosthetics, unless I actually lose my eyes and put on a pair of prosthetic eyes to replace the real, natural ones. But in a broad sense, I have indeed lost my eyes and the right to see the world freely. The effect brought by contact lenses is the same as that of a prosthetic limb, which is to be repossessed and obtained. Compared with the frame glasses that need to be placed in front of the eyes like a mask, it is so small and smart, and it knows how to make people less embarrassed.
Due to the influence of myopia for many years, even the most beautiful pair of eyes will become dull, and contact lenses are undoubtedly the guy who helps people to "fish eyes". Wearing contact lenses not only saves beautiful eyes from being buried, but it also seems to make them look a little brighter. Although it is a little trick, it does make people pleasantly surprised.
It can also be seen from this point that people really like to deceive themselves, and contact lenses are just a more sophisticated deception he chose. But it is cruel to admit that one has indeed lost something.
So far, so far, the contact lens is my prosthesis, although the truth behind it is self-evident.
