"Keep calm and fight Putin."
In 2020, I read the comments of historian Yaroslav Hrytsak in order to collect information on the square revolution in Ukraine, and I benefited a lot. I especially appreciate scholars who can help reflect on an era or even individual events.
In light of the recent simmering tensions, I thought it might be better to see what he has to say. According to the picture, I found out that he had a real-time online lecture yesterday, so I stopped by to join in. At first, I saw that there was no movement on the channel, and I was a little worried that the scene in Lviv had become dangerous. Isn't it time for small talk? Soon I saw two uncles appear in front of the screen.
I feel that he is used to seeing wind and waves, and is good at speaking calmly and inspiring words in troubled times. He mentioned that he lived exactly half of his life under Soviet rule and the other half in independent Ukraine. At the beginning, he told everyone that there was no panic among the local people, and many people even lined up with joy to buy firearms. And he also has three doctoral students who have volunteered to go to the front line, and everyone has long been aware of the battle.
Just a few words that I think are very police.
"War is the norm, peace is the exception. And we have to fight back for peace."
"I'm happy to see a crisis, a crisis that urges Ukraine to change itself."
"Putin has repeatedly smeared Ukraine as a failed state. In terms of political clarity, Russia is a failed state."
"We trust Europe more than Europe trusts itself. We want to see a new Europe."
"Putin has no role in the future. Putin is trapped in the past."
Finally, the host asked him to make a conclusion, and he simply said: "Keep calm and fight Putin."
