My Instagram was officially blocked and retrieved after 4 months

Seeing the incident of netizens' Instagram (IG) account being blocked by META, I also want to share the story of the previous IG account being blocked (and retrieved after 4 months), so that everyone can know what kind of company META is... Because the phone is broken After that, I lost the screenshot of the IG interface. The following is only the screenshot of the email record. The blurred part is my profile.

(I originally published this article on an account on another platform, and then I thought about it, and I even made a screenshot. Maybe I can put it here so that more people can see it.)

Seeing the incident of netizens being blocked by META Instagram (IG) account, I also want to share the story of the previous IG account being blocked (and retrieved after 4 months), so that everyone can know what kind of company META is...

At the beginning of 2020, when I started to self-repress with pneumonia, I turned my personal IG into a daily diet record, which only had the leftover photos of my own cooking. This account was suspected to be logged in by someone else in early December 2020. After I changed my password, Facebook at that time blocked my IG account, saying that I violated the terms of use (but did not say which), and said that if I thought They can appeal against wrongful convictions. Below are my email exchanges and follow-up with Facebook after I appealed.

Because the screenshot of the IG interface was lost after the phone was broken, the following is only the screenshot of the email record. The blurred part is my profile.

A few days after I appealed, Facebook sent me this email asking me to take a selfie with a piece of paper with specific numbers and my real name and IG account name on it to identify me:

Email from Facebook after I appealed.

Because this IG is linked to the private accounts of many high school friends, I really wanted to get it back, so I did it obediently (the attachment to the photo on the screen cap below is my selfie):

My reply to Facebook.

After a few days of no response, I sent an email to follow up, but again no response.

In April 2021, a friend who works at Facebook asked me if I had not retrieved my account, I said not yet, then he asked me to tell him the account ID, and he tried to retrieve it for me. After a few days, I finally managed to log back into my IG account. Later, I mentioned this to another friend who works at Facebook. The other side was a little surprised and told me that the employee can retrieve the account for the user, but the user must be the employee's family member... (It turned out to be such a big favor)

Such a large platform needs to maintain stability and avoid the existence of SCAM/TROLL, etc., which will make users dissatisfied and migrate in a big way. META has a set of algorithms to determine whether to flag/block an account, and there are many innocent accounts blocked. Most of the blocked accounts are not within the scope of employees, and most of the blocked accounts are non-paid accounts. For META, no paid accounts are actually just goods, not customers . The reason why they provide space and "services" to Posting on free accounts, just because the content generated by these accounts can attract other users to stay on IG for a longer time, then more users will swipe to the advertisements paid by META customers (merchants) - think about how much you will swipe stories in a day. How many ads to brush.

As for why the family members of employees have the "privilege" to retrieve IG, it is because:

  1. Intuitively, the employee said that it is a family account, and it will definitely not be SCAM/TROLL, and
  2. Employees are the tools to design algorithms/gold for them, and the company doesn't want to gain or lose them.

In other words, for individual IG users who do not pay, the cost of blocking you is much lower than the cost of stopping stability maintenance. META does not care about losing you at all.

Really, losing an IG with thousands of followers is a great disaster for users, but the thousands of followers who have locked accounts will not leave META because of losing a subscription account , so for META It doesn't matter at all.

Therefore, I can only say that when using the META platform, you must have the awareness that your account can be locked at any time.

Do not think that the strong will consciously fulfill their moral responsibilities. As early as the US hearing in 2018, Mark Zuckerberg said that Facebook is a technology company (technology company) not a media company (media company) , that is, you don't expect them to have the conduct of a media company ( i.e. they can do anything).

If after considering all this, you still feel that the advantages of using the META platform outweigh the disadvantages, then go ahead and use it.
