【Workplace】Time is more precious than money, and focus is scarcer than time

In the previous article " [Workplace] What we manage is not time, but ourselves ", we mentioned that time is precious, and it will never come back. In the absence of other external conditions, everyone has the same time each day, 24 hours, 1440 minutes, 86,400 seconds. However, whether in study or work, there is one thing that is more scarce than time, and everyone has a different amount...

concentration

Take 8 hours of work every day from waking up to going to bed. Ask yourself (please feel your conscience), are these 8 hours a very focused state? Or ask: Can we sustain 8 hours of hyperattention?

It is difficult for ordinary people to do it (except for those who are talented and have received special training).

Everyone has a so-called golden hour, for example, within 2-3 hours of waking up, when the brain is active and the thinking is clear, at this time, you can read, write, or deal with tasks that require more mental effort. At noon, concentration begins to decline, and the brain and body need to supplement nutrition and rest. Gradually recovering in the afternoon, probably because of the psychological expectation of getting off work (laughs) or physical adjustment, usually there will be a wave of high concentration time before getting off work .

The average person can continue to concentrate for 40-60 minutes is not bad, which is one of the reasons why a class usually does not exceed 50 minutes. In fact, 15-30 minutes of high concentration is likely to be several times more efficient and effective than "fake concentration" for 2-3 hours in a row. The brain himself is very easy to wander, not to mention that everyone's psychological and physiological characteristics are different, the length of time they can focus on is different, or the amount of focus resources varies from person to person . Fortunately, mindfulness can be trained .

With the technological development of the Internet, mobile phones, and tablets, the massive information bombardment and constant interference in an instant have made modern people's attention increasingly challenged. And the state of concentration that is interrupted from time to time requires a lot of brain energy every time you switch and recover , which is why many people feel busy all day, physically and mentally exhausted, but if you think about it carefully, it seems that there is nothing specific and effective to accomplish. .

Find a time to observe your prime time of day , cherish it, protect it, make good use of it, and invest it in the things you most want to do or challenge the most . Worth a try because...

Time is more precious than money, and focus is scarcer than time.
