Setting, Religion, Truth and Placebo

Last time we talked about atheism, which is not a good way to state it, but if you insist that there is no God, that's your family's business, but we're going to talk about something else today.

Theism is a very broad concept, because the definition of God is so complicated that it can easily become different. But it doesn't matter because it's the setting.

The current generation should be very familiar with the setting. To read comics, you need to understand a lot of settings, to play an electric game, you need to understand a lot of settings, and of course to read novels. There are also a lot of reference books for watching movies. In short, settings are everywhere.

If you look at it from a place that is as far away as possible from various religious viewpoints, you will see a lot of settings, some with a long history, some with very new inventions, but it should be noted that there is no right or wrong. Absolutely, it helps to just pay attention to the history.

In short, if you regard religious theological content as a setting, you can enjoy it with joy, because it is very fun, like reading a game rule book.

But then there's the problem, some of the rules are badly written...I mean, there are contradictions.

Having said that, a wonderful setting is not necessarily logically established, just like many movies are terrible, but they are good, but the logic of a bad setting must be terrible.

From the point of view of appreciation, as long as it's brilliant, it's okay to have bad logic, but if you plan to use it for games (believe in that religion), then logic is very important. A badly written rule book will only It makes you crazy, so religious theology, in any case, should not have logical errors, of course, you can be difficult to understand, after all, knowing God is inherently impossible to achieve 100%, so some parts, especially Things that go beyond cognitive boundaries and supernatural things can be very difficult to understand. This is understandable, but no matter what, it should not be illogical. If you can't do it, it will not be a religion.

Because the purpose of joining a religion is for ultimate redemption (or if you only want immediate benefits... no one says no), and religion will tell you "where" the answer to the mystery in the universe, but you have to break through it yourself, according to theology rule book to play the game.

Of course, there are different levels of content in religious theology. The more superficial ones are similar to everyone. For example, you need to be a good person, do good deeds, don’t lie, don’t kill people, help others, etc. Some of them are basic skills.

Next is the part involving rituals, such as praying, burning incense, reciting scriptures, meditating, attending gatherings, donating money, etc. Some of them are not, which can also be divided into individual and group levels. In this part, although there are differences between religions, it is not as big as imagined. At most, due to cultural differences, some rituals have different expressions.

The more in-depth theology, the difference is big. In fact, many religious people actually only stop at the previous stage, and there is no in-depth study of theology.

Because at this stage, some places are "not fun".

Simply put, when you get to this stage, you are not after the appearance of religion, but the truth, and this represents conflict.

Settings can all be fun, whether logical or not. But religion has to pay attention to logic, otherwise it won't work, or you'll be forced to use more settings to deal with settings that have problems with logic, or you're willing to go back to the truth and deal with religious errors.

The Christian church can provide two good examples of improvement, one is the indulgence mentioned earlier, which is obviously a wrong religious setting, so Martin Luther dealt with it theologically, not with more reasons to explain.

The other is the dispute between the heliocentric theory and the geocentric theory. In fact, very early on, the church found that the geocentric theory could not explain the motion of the planets, so someone proposed the heliocentric theory a long time ago (Copernicus was not the first to propose it, but he was the first to put his teacher The person who collected the observation data and sorted out the evidence), but at first the church chose to use a bunch of small circles to deal with the problem of planetary orbits, making the entire celestial sphere model extremely complicated, with various orbits operating at the same time.

By the way, the “science” in the current concept, including academic ethics, all developed from the church, because the church has developed the part of theology related to the real world into science, thinking logic and dialectical training and developed it into philosophy. as a basic training in theology. The earliest universities were established in monasteries, in what is generally considered to be the Dark Ages of the Middle World. In fact, that was the time when science began to develop as a formal discipline.

In short, the church later accepted it, changed the argument entirely, and the problem was solved, because at the end of the day, taking the earth as the center itself is not theological (although it fits the intuition of ancient observations), but it is idolized, because God is the core .

There's actually a lot of blood and blood in the middle, but the point is that the church has the ability to do this kind of introspection, I mean, to do the theological introspection, that's the root cause.

Only then can you move on to the core truth, because the core of Christian theology is not the words of the Bible, but the attitude of constant pursuit of truth that is conveyed in the Bible, because there are a lot of new sayings in the Bible that replace the old ones. The content of the statement, so the point is not the statement, but the matter of "replace with better".

Therefore, the way modern people interpret the Bible is vastly different in many parts from what it was a thousand years ago, but the Bible is still the same.

In fact, people who will interpret the Bible a thousand years from now will definitely have a deeper way.

What about the theological content of other religions? Of course, this is also something worth studying. I have always believed that God’s revelation is universal, so he will definitely show himself to all people in the world, but different cultures have different interpretations of what they see, which is also natural Therefore, what we have to do is to find out what is right (and of course eliminate what is wrong, if you pursue the truth, this is something that cannot be avoided).

But I have to admit that it's not easy to do, and it may be grudged, and while the truth is definitely worth it, it's not something everyone is willing to do.

In fact, placebos are also effective, albeit fake.

For example, if I ask you today how much is 1+1? Everyone may answer 2, the second is a real and correct answer, but every elementary school student can tell you that 1+1 equals Tian, Jia, You, Shen, Wang, and even Tie fighters.

Is this the wrong answer? No, it's a fun answer that can hold under some "set", but not a "real" answer.

Yes, if you insist on using a bunch of settings, then your religion will become a brain teaser. Of course, this is fun and can be used as a video game setting, but it is too far from the pursuit of truth.

In fact, you'll find that theological content that fits the truth is not suitable for video game settings, because it is too real to be fun.

However, there is a situation that needs to be noted, that is, when someone answers 1+1=10, it is very likely that this is also correct, because this is the answer in binary representation, so this is also a truthful answer.

This also shows that truth has absoluteness on the one hand, but also pluralism at the same time. You can examine it from various aspects, but the point is that it must be logical and still have consistency in the end, just as the decimal 2 and the binary 2 10 is essentially the same thing, but although Wang and Tian are established under their respective settings, there is no consistency. It is just a fun brain teaser, not a real answer (here refers to meeting the mathematical requirements of 1+1) .

However, brain teasers are still helpful to those who are willing to believe, just a placebo, but one thing to be aware of is that when you are faced with the need for final answers (usually before or after death), comfort is useless. .

Therefore, a person who does not bother to think about the true meaning of theology is actually very dangerous, but for most people, this is actually enough.

As for which religious contents are like video game settings, and which ones use a lot of settings to explain the settings, but don't tell you where the settings come from, and which are the real content...

You can research this for yourself first!
