Steem's past

Matters has a lot of articles discussing Steem these days, which aroused my curiosity. I tried to go up and post a few old articles. Thanks to @tanlikming Chen Liming and @DrThankYouC for their enthusiasm, for pulling me into the steem Chinese community, I have the feeling of finding an organization.

When @tanlikming Chen Liming took me to the novice village, he said that I was not a "newbie", and the time to enter steemit was similar to his.

Yes, I registered for a steemit account in January 2018, and it has been more than 2 years in the blink of an eye, but I feel that I am still a "newcomer", and my understanding of the steem community is still stuck in the initial half-knowledge.

At the end of 2017, a friend in the government policy research department entrusted me to write an investigation report on the application of blockchain technology. At that time, it was the time of the blockchain boom, and every day, I could hear countless stories of riches in the currency circle.

At the beginning, all I knew about the blockchain was only a new technology that was very difficult for NB to understand. It took me a week to read 2 books, scoured a bunch of materials, made up for some blockchain knowledge, and then started interviews and research.

In the process of searching for information, I watched a video interview with BM, who said in the interview why he left the steem project in the first place, and that the EOS currently under development has extended the use of steem technologies, etc. Out of curiosity, I followed the clues and found the steemit community. Then register an account to experience.

At that time, it was not easy to register a steemit account, and the platform had to review it. After waiting for five days, I finally received the approval email. I spent 2 nights to experience, steemit's concept of making content directly generate value, and the way to realize influence monetization. Compared with the transformation dilemma encountered by traditional media, I was shocked. I wrote an "Experience Summary" in the circle of friends. ":

Steemit is a blockchain-based social writing platform that realizes incentives through virtual currency. At present, there are many technical experts in the steemit Chinese community. The communication is very good, and the quality of the articles is not bad. It has the simple temperament of the blog era. The biggest special feature of steemit is that writing articles to earn royalties is completely based on the transparent operation of the blockchain. Many articles can easily earn hundreds of dollars. I feel that the spring of blogging is coming back.

This is where my connection to the steem community started.

After the initial experience, I started to post on steemit. After a while, I found that the articles on steemit were basically like a rock. "Every few hundred dollars in income" is just someone else's legend, and it has nothing to do with me. The so-called ideal is very full, the reality is very backbone, that is what it means.

Steemit does not pursue the harmony of the world. Its rules encourage "class" differences, from "small fish" to "dolphins" to "big whales", and implements a differentiated democracy, with different levels of power. Huge, although everyone can "like", but your likes are different from others' likes, your likes may be 0 income, while a "big whale" likes can be as much as several dollars, everything depends on your hands How many SPs speak.

Therefore, steemit is popular with big whales, but when you first arrive, you have no relatives. Where do you go to meet big whales? There is also a kind of inspirational culture popular in steemit: as long as you continue to maintain high-quality output, you will eventually be appreciated by the whales to give you a thumbs up, and you will be on the pinnacle of life since then.

The worst thing for me is that the user experience of steemit is really bad. The speed of the Internet is like a snail. Uploading pictures with the Markdown editor often requires luck. To send an article, what you need is not talent, but perseverance. After I wrote a few articles on steemit for my own amusement, the blockchain turned into another low tide again, and various myths of making wealth in the currency circle gradually disappeared. Fighting whales and reaching the pinnacle of my life, my enthusiasm for steemit has been exhausted.

In the past two days, the enthusiastic @DrThankYouC has popularized a lot of steem common sense for me in the group, and I will answer any questions.

The first thing to do when returning to steemit is to mount my like plugin. After reading the tutorials written by the seniors in the Chinese area, I implemented them according to the law, but there were always mistakes. After I asked Mi Gao in the group, I realized that maybe the password I used only had permission to post, so I couldn't modify the account information. I vaguely remember steemit and several passwords with different permissions, but I can't remember where I saved it. After a while of searching through boxes and cabinets, all kinds of mistakes were made, and I found the main account password of steemit for me. Then the like plug-in was successfully hung up. When I saw these cute little blue hands appearing behind the previous article, I couldn't help but snicker, and went up for a while.

In the current steemcn area, it is said that the UI is temporarily switched back to Steemit due to the shutdown of witnesses, so the experience is no different from the feeling of 2 years ago. The background editor cannot upload pictures in batches, which makes me unable to complain.

I think, since we want to mix in the rivers and lakes of steem, the problem of posting needs to be solved after all. Can it be solved by third-party tools? A friend in the group recommended an app called WhereIn. I downloaded it and tried it out, and found that the system is built by wordpress and synchronized to the steem chain through a plug-in called steempress. This discovery was like a ray of light, which led me to find a solution to the problem, which is to build a wordpress site by myself.

This is very easy, I opened a virtual host on the Synology NAS, installed wordpress, downloaded steempress, the settings were also very simple, and then I posted an article, success! This article is indeed synchronized on my steemit station.

This is the first step in returning to steem, how long can it last this time? Haha, never mind. One step is to further benefit. As Michael said, steem needs to be learned slowly.
