Clean up your home first, and then your body, mind and soul will feel much better

Even if you are not a hoarder, ordinary people may still live in a messy home. Friends who have bipolar problems or other emotional problems, think about it, have you accumulated some useless things? Come on, hurry up and break up the separation!

Although I am not advocating minimalism, I started to pay attention to decluttering a few years ago. After watching a show on Netflix, I immediately couldn't sleep and tidied up in the middle of the night. (Don’t be like me, because when I have a manic episode, I often can’t control myself and want to finish my work.) Recently, I have been reading books that are off-topic. My friends say that my house is already very tidy. In fact, it is not. There are still a lot of unnecessary things. It has been kept in a drawer without being processed, and it is possible that the "treasure" exists without any thought of discarding it.

If you live with family members, tidy up your own room first, and then lobby your family members to tidy up the common space. Still cleaning up your computer files and breaking up your interpersonal relationships! ! !

  • First, tackle your wardrobe

I believe that both men and women will always have more clothes than they really need in order to dress up or relieve stress. Hat lovers have too many different styles of hats, including fisherman hats, ball caps, cold hats, and gentleman hats. But at the same time, you have too many headwear, so when you go out to carry hats or use headwear? Or maybe you have too many floral socks. I used to buy more and more floral socks from Korea because they were too flat and beautiful. Then I saw a girl’s pink solid-color socks in Paris that were so beautiful, so I bought solid-color socks again because Everyone has the experience of buying things due to external stimulation, so I suggest that you stop for a moment and make a commitment not to buy clothes for a year.

Find a morning to take out the seasonal clothes at home and sort them first. You can classify it according to your living habits, what about work clothes, sports clothes, home clothes, or banquet clothes? I suggest classifying by function first, and then dividing the required quantities of different types of shirts/T-shirts/trousers/shorts from the same functional category.

Take me as an example. I work from home and am responsible for buying daily necessities. My job is to be an actor. The functional classification of my clothes is 1. Home wear, for going shopping downstairs, going for a walk, or having a casual meal; 2. Casual wear, for casting or going out with friends; 3. Outer wear. Because I spend a lot of time at home, the depreciation rate is very high, but because I want to live a happy life and have a sense of ritual, I buy a set of home clothes from GU. I have six sets, and there are a few more in summer that are not too big. Replace the old Tee, because you may sweat a day and need to change clothes. The other drawer is for casual clothes, mainly comfortable and easy shirts, so I have three long jumpsuits that I bought on Huayuan Street that are not expensive, and a few matching trousers and shorts, a total of three pairs and several years of T-shirts. The quality of the clothes for going out is relatively good. They are my favorite skirts, new T-shirts, and my favorite dresses. The three drawers hold three functional clothes respectively. This can be a reference for everyone. This classification is also used in winter.

When you take out all your clothes for a season, you will see which clothes you bought but don’t wear, and the price tags may not be cut off. Are there any items that you wear often and love, and some items that no longer fit you but you like them so much that you don’t want to part with them? Take me as an example. When I was a girl, I loved wearing shirts, but now that I have gained weight, they don’t look good, and it’s annoying to button them. I haven’t worn the shirts I bought a few years ago, so this means I don’t want to buy any more shirts. In winter, I wear sweatshirts the most and wear them very frequently. This is the right thing to buy. Knitting is not my cup of tea at all. I bought some pieces a few years ago and haven’t worn them much. I only keep one piece that has a special design, and I’ll donate the rest while they’re still there.

In fact, in addition to clothes, shoes, and accessories, you also set a goal not to buy them for a year. You also have to tell your friends not to give them to you and don’t be a devil and ask you to buy them.

  • Then there is the book and CD cabinet

I have thrown away a lot of books and CDs before, but with e-books and music streaming platforms, I can reduce the number of items and only keep the books and CDs that are in my heart. Some old books do not have electronic versions and I like them very much. They are mainly images and the book design is very special. These are mostly creative and fine art ones that I will keep for collection. Nowadays, most of the physical books that I still buy are cookbooks and picture books. I kept all the CDs by Huang Yaoming and You Er Feiwen, as well as CDs that were very indie at the time.

  • Photo album and film

The film cannot be retained, it will melt, so I scan it quickly before it changes color. I am already late, but I still scan it into the computer. On the other hand, the ones I had when I was a kid were very precious and I won’t lose them. The ones I lost are the ones I lost when I was in my twenties. Mainly because their faces were completely disfigured, my former classmates no longer interacted with each other, and I had unpleasant memories, so I lost a lot of them. Anyway, I lost a lot of them. I am not happy when I see the photos taken with them. This actually frees up a whole cabinet space, how nice it is.

  • Collection while traveling

Maybe you will buy postcards like me when traveling, and keep tickets/maps/receipts, etc. These are not just thrown away. If you have time, organize them as well as photos. If the memory of something from many years ago is vague, then stick it in a small notebook and write down the travel information. If you return, you should write a travel diary while you still have the impression. It can be simple. Maybe because I have the habit of writing a diary, I must have a travel diary to record my travels.

  • interpersonal separation

Friends who are just for shopping, eating, drinking and having fun may not be necessary, but friends who can talk to each other and understand your ups and downs of emotions are necessary. Because you don’t understand or don’t want to understand you, don’t be with them. Because life is not just about happy parties. When you are sick, what you want is understanding and companionship.

When you clean up your home and relationships, you'll feel better emotionally (and still take your meds, of course) but feel better on a day-to-day basis. No hoarding of unnecessary things, no so-called friends that you don’t want to see, keep the best/carefully selected favorite things, your favorite friends, and you will feel better physically and mentally.
