【Giloo】RBG: Justice Not Dinosaurs - A True Life

(edited)
Taken from RBG stills

Giloo is a Taiwanese streaming platform that I have been following very closely. Because I like watching documentaries, I have always wanted to become a member of this platform, and this film "RBG" is the real opportunity for me to pay.

RBG, "Many people have asked me how many female justices are enough, and my answer is 9. People are always surprised, but it's strange that when there are 9 male justices As a judge, no one found it strange."

When we face gender, there are always many cognitive fallacies. The simplest example: we often say that men are suitable for hunting and women are suitable for parenting. On the other hand, we also say that boys are doctors and girls are teachers, but we do not say that doctors are suitable for hunting and teachers are suitable for parenting.

This is what we mentioned, A=C, B=D, A=E, B=F, according to this logic C=E, D=F should be established, but in fact it is not equal, this is not the generation of fallacy ?

2020 is just the beginning of President Tsai Ing-wen's re-election. When the cabinet was elected, there was a lot of discussion about the gender ratio of the cabinet, because the ratio of males to females hit a new low. I remember that there was a series of QAs from women's new knowledge at that time, responding to netizens. The question, especially for the requirement to increase the gender ratio of female cabinet ministers, is not a request for privilege? The reply of the new knowledge of women is that we are against privilege and that is why we ask such a question.

This is what RBG is saying, we always say that there should be several women to be enough, and the same column replaces women with men, and often no one asks such a question.

What exactly is feminism?

Feminism, I think, stands for living for oneself, and the standard of social judgment refuses to use gendered dichotomies.

RBG said that her mother taught her, "be a lady, be independent", not to be kidnapped by emotions, such as anger; it is lucky and important to find the prince charming in your heart, but don't forget to live for yourself.

The play describes the sincere feelings between RBG and her husband, as well as the time when RBG was often lonely and sad after her husband passed away. Learning to rely on a person or craving love doesn't mean it's not an act of independence. Knowing what you want, being independent and strong, and knowing how to be yourself is part of feminism.

I consider myself lucky that I met her first. The 2020 US election is confusing, and RBG also passed away this year, which makes me feel that because I watched this film first, I have a better understanding of the context of the world and why everyone thinks it is so important.

I sincerely recommend that everyone should watch RBG's documentary. No matter how many times I watch it, I will be moved by the firmness of RBG's life. The concepts and progress we are accustomed to have actually developed rapidly in the past few decades. We take it for granted. Those injustices in history seem far away but are actually very close.

The most fascinating part of the documentary is to express a point of view through the director's shooting technique.

The most astounding thing is that this is not a story, this is reality...the drive that drives us to not keep thinking!
