Midsummer 2022 - Hawaii Trip

I originally planned to take a family trip to Hawaii in the spring and summer of 2020, but it was ruined due to the epidemic. This year, I happened to reunite with my friends in Honolulu and started a five-day and four-night trip to Hawaii~

Use time series to record what you did on this trip.

A list of delicious (must eat) restaurants and foods collected : https://goo.gl/maps/fWsawduMmFn5E3Yk6

1st day of July 8

• Wander around the main thoroughfare (kalakaua Avenue) on Waikiki to find out what you want to eat and visit in the next few days. It can be done in about an hour
• Island Vintage Shave Ice
This small vendor is always full of people. They sell fruit-based ice cream (not pigments), as well as Japanese-style red bean and matcha flavors. There are a few QQ mochi next to it, which is delicious and adds to the taste.
The sugar cane juice Cane Juice at the stall next door is obviously a strong contrast, and there is no crowd, but we ordered two glasses, one is pineapple sugar cane juice, and the other is original flavor, I think they are delicious, not deadly sweet, I remember when I was a child , a glass of sugar cane juice of 10-15 yuan at the entrance of the vegetable market, and bottled sugar cane juice with red caps.

• Korean BBQ Sura
When friends and their families got off the plane, we came to eat Korean barbecue, which is also a popular restaurant to make a reservation. While waiting, I saw a group of people wearing Hawaiian shirts waiting for admission at the door, it felt like they were off work, and then had supper night. Ah~ I haven't seen this kind of scene for a long time. Since living in the United States, there is basically no nightlife.
On the whole, it is a good barbecue restaurant, not particularly amazing. After eating, I went home with a barbecue smell. The first day was very long, and I tried to adjust the jet lag.

2nd day of July 9th

• Surf to go @Stoke Drift
The logic of arranging the itinerary this time is to complete one thing in a day, and do whatever else you want. The next day is to go surfing, see the sea, listen to the sound of the waves, and relax. I met a young coach (just graduated from high school), the advantage of a young coach is that he will focus more on teaching instead of just eating, but my surfing skills are still the same. . . I really can't learn to surf well if my physical strength is too poor... (sigh) When I paddle where there are waves, my physical strength will consume more than half of my GG.

I learned it once five years ago, and I have long forgotten that feeling. The scary thing is that I forgot that I am afraid of water = 3 =
When I was halfway through and fell into the water, the nightmare of drowning came to my mind. I forgot to pull the foot rope and find the surfboard. After struggling in the water for a while, I regained my senses and quickly climbed up. surfboard. The old swan, who drank a lot of seawater (very salty), thought to himself: Do it! How terrifying!
After cheering up, I rushed again, and I almost stood up successfully. Before learning to ski and practicing balance boards at home, it was more or less helpful, it was easier to catch the center of gravity, and it was less likely to fall so miserably.
Then, for the third rush, he failed to stand up, but instead lay down and dashed until the waves stopped. In fact, this kind of feeling is very wonderful. During that process, I felt that time passed very slowly, and I wanted to say: Why doesn't it stop? Where will I be rushed? Fortunately, I didn't rush to a strange place, just a long way from the coach.
As everyone knows, it is nearing the end of the course, and I want to practice more! In the end, the coach pulled me and my friends back to the shore by way of road rescue (we are the concept of parasitic upstream). Teng had the best physical strength and went back by himself.

This is really a beautiful experience. I hope that I will spend some time at the beach to learn surfing (I watched a lot of surfing teaching Youtube XD afterwards). On this day, as Jeremy said - the surfing team returned from exhaustion and was washed halfway Life, could not be more appropriate!
Surf Team Fighting

• Lomi Lomi Massage massage time
I saw the advertisement of Lomi Lomi Massage on the plane, and I checked the local massage method. I called and made an appointment the day before, because I knew that after surfing, I would definitely It's in a state of exhaustion. After arriving at the scene, it turned out to be a Japanese-owned store. Overall, the evaluation was ok, about 88/100 points, not particularly amazing.
• Eat Local Food & Pina colada @ Lava Tube
Tried two local dishes - Loco Moco (hamburger rice) & Lau Lau (pork wrapped in taro leaves and steamed), it was really special, the luncheon meat in the hamburger rice was too salty, and Lau Lau was not bad , The soft and rotten taro leaves are very similar to sweet potato leaves, but have a little smell of zongzi leaves. Through food, you can learn about the climate and history of a place~ (like)
With piña colada in a pineapple, it's more Hawaiian
• Japanese izakaya ABURIYA IBUSHI
This seems to be a popular restaurant. It was opened by Japanese. After eating several small dishes, I vaguely remembered that the chicken wings were delicious. I also ordered a glass of grapefruit for bartending, and took an Uber back to the restaurant slightly drunk.

3rd day of July 10

• Donuts Leonard's Bakery
It is a popular dessert shop. The queues are endless, and the nearby parking spaces are also full. Although there are many people, it takes about 20-30 minutes to queue up, which is not too long.
In fact, it is a donut without a hole, with different powdered sugar on the outside, and you can also choose to have a filling. It's a must-eat in Hawaii, but don't expect too much. I think the powdered sugar is more delicious, because its filling is not very natural and will steal the taste of the bread itself.

• Turtle watching @ Laniakea Beach
The best time to see turtles is at noon, so after buying donuts, hurry up and drive to Laniakea Beach in North Shore. It is really a road that collapses. Seeing turtles eating seagrass, there are really many turtles here! The way he stretches his neck from time to time to breathe is super cute!

• Shrimp Rice Giovanni's Shrimp Truck & Acai Bowl Hale'iwa Bowl
After watching the turtles, go to a nearby town - Hale'iwa Town for dinner, which is also the most touristy itinerary to follow. Line up to buy shrimp rice. The shrimp rice is really good, although only shrimp, rice, lemon, But their prawns are well seasoned and flavorful and worth a row.
In the Food Truck area, a bunch of chickens are running around, and flies are flying around, which is the dirtiest and most delicious concept. After a full meal, I switched to desserts and finally bought the Acai Bowl that I wanted to try the most. This restaurant obviously doesn’t have to wait in line and can get the meal within 10 minutes.
• Failed Horse Riding Tour North Shore Stables
After I was full, I was ready to embark on a horse-riding trip. This was a failure point. I used the navigation in the Viator App and couldn't find my destination. It led me to a private residential area (the backyard of the residential area is the seaside, I am very envious) , the time passed, and I couldn't contact the host. After the host called me, they slowly guided us to the horse farm, and then they refused to provide horse riding service, saying that we were late.
But I don't think I'm late, because there is no instruction in the Viator App, and there is no contact number on it, only Message (passed it and no one listened to me), so I talked about it, I had to go to Viator to apply for a refund ( Ultimately, the refund failed....).
In short, the lesson of this time is to arrive as early as possible, otherwise, don’t rely on the software of the third-party marketplace, which is prone to system problems.
• Poke & Musubi Café
This time I stayed at VIVE HOTEL. Every time I walked out of the hotel, I saw that there was a Poke shop ( Maguro Spot ) opposite and there were people queuing all the time, so I decided that it was the dinner that day. I ordered the Salmon Ikura Bowl, which Teng wanted to eat the most. The salmon is really ~ fresh~ fresh. Poke is actually very easy to eat in Los Angeles, but the freshness is really incomparable.
After eating this bowl of rice, I went to the Musubi Café Iyasume not far to buy rice balls. The general triangular rice balls and SPAM rice balls are good. After eating them, I felt that I was in a Japanese supermarket.

Fourth day of July 11

• Oahu Grill 's local food restaurant
Continue to experience local cuisine for lunch, we ordered Kalua Pig, Squid Lu`au & Crispy Pork Belly. Basically, they are all good, but Kalua pork is a bit dry and salty, I prefer the crispy pork, the skin is deep fried and crispy. (Addition: Kalua means cooked in an underground oven)
Next to the restaurant is a small Wenqing shop, Sugarcane , which sells local hand-made small items. There is a calendar at the door, which says that there will be Pop-up Stores with different hawkers at different times. It is an offline version of Etsy.

• Turtle Snorkeling
Remember the lesson, arrive at the destination one hour in advance, park the car, find the meeting point, go to the beach next to sunbathe in peace, then get on the boat with the companions on the same boat, and drive to a certain sea point After that, I put on my equipment and jumped down. At first I saw a turtle (full and clear), followed by countless fish swimming around (all black fish, a few with brighter colors), I didn’t see many turtles after that, but the photographer helped us to take some photos and videos with the turtles. After about 30 to 40 minutes of ups and downs at sea, we boarded the boat with a slightly dizzy brain. to land.

• Patagonia
There is a Patagonia nearby, with a yellow building. This store has a lot of items, and there are T-Shirts that are limited to Hawaii 😊
• Ginza tonkatsu
I thought I wouldn't have a chance to eat this pork chop restaurant, but we didn't expect to get a seat.
When I was looking for a restaurant that day, I found that because it was a Monday, many restaurants were closed. Because I planned to eat Pho, but it was not open, I chose a pork chop restaurant. The pork chop is really good, the meat inside is very layered, and their skin is fried. Very fragrant, with a special aroma, if you don't know what to order, the first three items on the menu are still safe and delicious!

• Henry's Place
The pork chop was very full after eating. Jeremy's sister pushed Henry's Place fruit. This shop is very close to the pork chop shop. We wandered to this "fruit shop" and tasted their ice and fruit. , the food comes out of the real thing! There are many different kinds of fruit-flavored ices to choose from. They are packed in non-environmentally friendly Styrofoam cups, which are very simple and retro.

5th day of July 12

• Kona Coffee
Because I have to catch the noon flight, I got up a little earlier today and walked the street for the last time. At 9 am, there were many people queuing for Kona Coffee. Of course, we also joined the team. I have to say that their coffee beans are very good. I don't know how to describe it, but it's smooth, and the smell has many layers. I bought a cup of hand-washed drink on the spot and brought a bag of coffee beans home.
I bought two packs of coffee beans this time, one is Kona Coffee, and the other is ground coffee sold in the ABC Store. Compared to the two, Kona is a complete winner. You get what you pay for.
Ps. I bought bread for breakfast, and their bread is also delicious!

• ALO Café – Lilikoi Bowl
There are too many things to eat on this trip. I still have a soft spot for Acai Bowl, so I bought another cup. This time I want to say something different. I chose the Acai Bowl with Lilikoi base. The conclusion is: the comparison of the original version. good to eat

Then, we quickly packed our luggage, returned the car, and took the plane back to LA~
After returning home, fortunately the two waste cats are still obedient, and there is no change in temperament and respect for everything beautiful, The End
