Book review·Book review|Japanese Red Army leader Shigenobu Fusako’s “Lebanese Incense”

This fragrance is called "Shigenobu Twilight".

Mr. Abe's assassination was unexpected. May he rest in peace. Terrorist attacks are impossible to prevent. This reminds me of the founder and leader of the Japanese Red Army , Shigenobu Fusako, who was released from prison at the end of May.

When it comes to Shigenobu House, in addition to her numerous blood debts, there is also a book written in 2001 called "I Decided to Give Birth to You Under the Apple Tree" ("I Decided to Give Birth to You Under the Apple Tree "). This book was originally written as a report to the Japanese government, which confirmed that Shigenobu gave birth to her daughter May Shigenobu under an apple tree in Lebanon. The child's father is a Palestinian guerrilla leader. His identity is special and must be kept secret. Therefore, Shigenobu's daughter was also hidden for more than 20 years.

Shigenobu fled to Lebanon in the 1970s and was imprisoned in Japan since 2006. He was not released from Tokyo Prison until May 28 this year. She was over 70 years old when she was released from prison. At the end of the month, she happened to read a report saying that she had cancer and needed active treatment. Let’s look at the photos of Chongxin’s house when he was young and lament the passage of time.

Shigenobu House was mentioned in a 2017 article in The New Yorker magazine by an artist named Anicka Yi. In this interesting "Personal History" category, Anicka Yi describes her own obsession with scents and how she blends scents from Asian immigrant sensibilities with iconic people and events to create a unique scent. . Speaking of this, I have to mention the well-known book "Perfume". At the same time, the emergence of the literary movie "Perfume" has pushed the extreme practice of obsessed teenagers to extract essential oils from people to make fragrances to the forefront of public opinion.

However, artist Anicka Yi did something that seems to only happen in the movie "Perfume" -

Anicka Yi is a Korean-American immigrant who immigrated to the United States with her parents when she was two years old. She wrote in the New Yorker article that she has been very sensitive to and fond of the aroma that Korean cooking brings to the kitchen since she was a child. She originally thought that America would have no smell when she arrived. However, the United States made her, an immigrant, feel a different smell.

So, around 2007, she began to develop various scents, from Sichuan peppercorns to chocolate, from ginseng to dried mushrooms... It wasn't until she started thinking about what immigrants like her in the United States would smell like that she slowly thought of women's scents. smell. She then met architect Maggie Peng, and together they began creating fragrances based on living women . "Shigentobu House" is her debut work.

Interestingly, the scent that Anicka Yi chose to create as the first woman alive in the world was actually Shigenobu House. The name Shigenobu House was so popular in the 1960s and 1970s that it even made you smell the smell of blood and was full of the meaning of resistance. Because Shigenobu lived in exile in Lebanon, and Lebanon has the oldest apple trees in the world, naturally this fragrance contains the smell of Lebanese apples, as well as orange, musk and black pepper. The fragrance is named " Shigenobu Twilight ". Although the ingredients in this fragrance are still fruity, Anicka and Maggie did incorporate the smell of human sweat into the next fragrance.

It's a pity that this is a book review, but it is more of a biography, because whether it is a book or information, there is almost no English version about Shigenobu House, which is difficult if you don't understand Japanese. Shigenobu’s daughter May Shigenobu ( Shigenobu メイ) is active on Twitter 👉Here

I have looked at Lebanon from afar several times, and I have also been to the border between Lebanon and Israel. Just like other borders, it is busy as usual, with ships moored and docked, and everything is calm. No matter the scenery or the humanities, it always gives me a blue feeling. In Israel, being close to the Holy City always makes people think about religion or personal beliefs. Looking around, we also know the power of faith. Terrorist attacks are always related to obsession, an obsession that I indulge in again and again. I also thought about going to the place where Israeli Prime Minister Rabin was assassinated, and later it was circled for everyone to come and pay their respects. Standing there, it was hard to imagine that a tragedy like an assassination had occurred at a certain moment in the past. Thinking about Mr. Abe, the same should be true. 🙏🏻As the leader of the Japanese Red Army, Shigenobu Fusako must have had deep obsessions. He also carried out terrorist activities and killed many people. Violent revolution may come in handy, but how to maintain what is obtained through violence is the missing part of the faith of Chong Xinfang. Once missing, it is nothing more than a loss of life.

World peace still has a long way to go.
