OTD June 22, 1941, Nazi Germany launches Operation Barbarossa , invasion of Soviet Union. German forces attacked towards Leningrad in the north, Moscow in the centre & the Ukraine in the south with over 3 million troops, 3,000 tanks, 2,500 aircraft, & 7,000 artillery pieces.
