Rigorous and polished from the academic circle - not just for one thing, but for thousands of hours, that's all.

"Seoul University's logical writing class that kills as soon as the class starts: the skills of writing original opinions, expressing opinions clearly, and strongly persuading others are open to the public."

One day a few weeks ago, I saw the book list on the homepage of the Kobo e-book recommending this " Logical Writing Class that Kills as Soon as the Class Starts at Seoul National University ", because of the algorithm push of "a book per day for 99 yuan", for me, This activity is also a class: a shopping class where you can instantly buy a special offer from an online store.

■ The first half: quite academic circle

If I were to annotate this book in one sentence, I would say that it is a collection of strategies for teaching people to "write essays" , focusing on explaining essays from a "critical" perspective, but if it is so straightforward, the book will definitely not sell. How should that be? It's a good idea to use a "logic" writing class to wrap it up. The scope of application is much wider, and life is everywhere without logic ( it can also be used to blame others )!

Recalling the time when the master's class wrote the thesis, I spent a lot of time reading journals - combing through the thinking lines of predecessors, learning the correct way of citing - then compressing the content and re-deciphering it into an abstract [ abstract] , It means literature research; next, find out the research direction that can be further deepened (this is an implicit statement, in the vernacular, it means to find out the deficiencies, and then I will make up the puzzle), this is [ find the problem] ; Therefore, to develop my own [ proposal] , there must be evidence, logic, and originality.

The above process is exactly the content of the first five chapters in the book (there are eight chapters in total), which is quite academic, so for the general public, it should feel that the synchronization rate with "everyday life" is not too high . For example, when I want to write an article about watching movies/chasing dramas/reading/current affairs, I often disconnect from absorbing other people's opinions first, so as to avoid the thought being pulled away intentionally or unintentionally. Therefore, the pre-organized research mentioned in the previous paragraph will be sent to Not useful anymore.

However, this set of meticulous rules is still very useful in "specific situations and daily life", such as writing planning books and analysis reports in the workplace, and the degree of fit is very high. This is an experience talk (laughs).

Occasionally come to a purposeless writing! Not bad too! Don't be so tense!

■ Second half: scrutinize yourself, peers

In the last three chapters of the book, it is the highlight of expressing one's own position. I am quite surprised that the author will leave "more than half" of the time [ deliberation ] to write a well-written article. There are so many items in "Check and Correct" that I never even thought about, and it happened to be a beacon for my recent work , and I left a note.

Take connectives as an example. The author wants us to use them sparingly . He said that seeking a "natural continuation" of sentences is the most ideal situation.

"You can't write a good article until you understand that writing is not a 'product' that is completed all at once, but a 'process' that develops gradually."

——William, a master of writing education. William Zinsser.

In addition to scrutinizing himself, he is also willing to [scrutinize] peers' articles, and then exchange evaluations for each other. Because bystanders are clear, they must rely on other people's reminders to see their own blind spots; not deliberately to pick on others' faults, but with respect and frankness, I hope the person who writes the article can perform better , and put forward a clear and visible direction Get the writer to think.

Don't ask for a little bit, just try hard, that's all.
