A Comprehensive Inventory of the Tezos Taiwan Ecosystem

Indeed, the list has been used over the years by overseas collectors, who are occasionally flagged thanks on Twitter, usually foreigners with some ties to Taiwan. In the list page, I left a foreshadowing, a blank list called "aka 2022", I want to say that the file can be updated again after a year.

Unexpectedly, there have been so many events in the past year. Tezos has evolved from a simple creator community to an industry. It is not practical to list creators. In most blockchain ecosystems, there is an industry first, and then there is a community. First, a lot of money is prepared, and beans are thrown into the army. On the contrary, the Tezos Taiwan community has a community first, and then slowly becomes an industry. The problems faced by the two are different, and the detailed analysis will be explained in the article published at the end of the month.

So this year, instead of making a list, an ecosystem chart (pictured) was drawn, which listed all industries and small groups related to the Taiwanese community. This chart is different from the traditional industry list in the currency circle. In the so-called industry community, such as the Binance Chain (BNB) that was shut down yesterday, the chart maker usually lists different types of applications, such as wallet services, decentralized exchanges , NFT gallery, etc., in order to prove that the industrial ecology is rich, and the chain is a public chain worthy of investment. But in the community-centered ecosystem, there is no such pressure. I choose to mix all the relevant groups into a pissing cow ball and present it at one time.

At present, there does not seem to be a comprehensive inventory of Taiwan's Tezos ecosystem articles on the table. Insiders are having a good time, and they are familiar with weekly actions and large-scale moments, but outsiders may see it as foggy and have no way to enter. At the same time, I personally wandered around the Web3 world, and I still think that Tezos is the creator ecology that is most in line with the decentralization spirit. After a year, the community seems to have grown more steadily, and more Web2 large-scale events will come in and have fun. Of course this depends on the fact that members of the community do not live in a particular service, but are diverse. There are even more than two dozen creator-focused collecting groups that have recently emerged, and I can't keep up.

Only the public chain remains unchanged. Indeed, many community members live on multiple chains, and I am no exception. However, looking at the conversations in the community, we can still see that many members live and entertain with Tezos as the main body. Tezos is like an alternative space for the physical world, with members coming and going, but a certain value has been formed invisibly. This may be because there is a larger public chain community (Ethereum), and the Tezos Taiwan community may no longer be a mainstream underground community.

A few days ago, a strange user joined the Tezos Taiwan community. As soon as he came in, he asked everyone why do you want to collect art NFTs? What is the use of NFTs without enabling? Why does the Seed Art Fund send bonuses to creators? Maybe it is difficult for the face friends outside the circle to understand. The cultural difference between different chains may be greater than the geographical relationship difference. Maybe he comes from a public chain mainly based on empowerment or game economy.

Going back to this ecosystem inventory, let me start.

The cluster in the center is a member of the Taiwan ecosystem, including community and application services. In fact, it is not easy to distinguish between the two. For example, akaSwap is an NFT platform, but it also operates its own native community; the left is Tezos Taiwanese users Commonly used overseas services, such as wallets, NFT platforms, etc.; on the right are Taiwan-related ecological members who are relatively less closely connected to the community. Large circles are members who are active in Tezos, and small circles are relatively static or proxy members. Let me introduce them one by one, starting from the bottom row in the middle.

Tezos Taiwan is a Telegram, formerly known as Baocheng and Mint, and currently has nearly 1,500 people. It can be regarded as the largest public square, and all information will flow here. In the past two months, Tezos Taiwan has established Twitter, which is managed by @水工 Coriander, and interviews different creators in the Twitter voice space every week.

The other two communities are Volume Dao and FAB DAO, and I am one of the contributors. Volume DAO is mainly composed of art professionals and collectors, with about 40 members. Volume DAO has collected tens of thousands of NFT works this year, and also held a Tezos forum in Taiwan in March this year. Exhibition, currently accelerating the pace of planning more virtual and physical exhibitions, as well as various writing projects.

FAB DAO (Formosa Art Bank) prides itself on being a public service, supporting creators of various genres, non-profit groups, and activists in the Tezos world, with a community of more than 2,000 people. At present, it maintains operations with donations, and continues to carry out various NFT innovation activities in units of two weeks. At the same time, it also continues to operate seed art funds and permanent collection activities.

There are two small circles in the central area, which are two Taipei art and cultural institutions, the Beijing Normal University Art Museum and the Taipei International Art Village. FAB DAO helped Beijing Normal University Art Museum (MoNTUE) issue Kng NFT in May this year, and started Kng DAO. Kng DAO currently has more than 700 people and holds art and cultural activities from time to time. It is a building on Tezos, but in fact A platform that is closer to the community management of virtual venues. The Taipei Artist Village (TAV) has just completed a one-month intensive bombing on-chain village. The community is in the form of a small Telegram with more than 30 people. Some artists have been integrated into the Tezos community, and some are sitting on the wall.

AkaSwap in the second row from the following is a standard decentralized NFT platform. It is also the first organization to step into the Tezos world. It is the beginning of the Taiwan ecosystem. Except for the relevant members to cooperate with Chuan Beimu, the issuance of the Tezos world is a successful PFP. The project Tez Dozen also cooperated to release Amei's concert NFT, Abang's concert NFT, and the day and night NFT experience action that just ended at the beginning of the month. In addition to being a platform, it is also doing content. Discord has nearly 4,000 members and hosts regular weekly voice events.

On the left of AkaSwap is the mix mix lab New Media Lab founded by @Newello. It is a very recent learning community. Huang Xin is a lecturer at Chengchi University this semester teaching blockchain and generative art knowledge. And open source teaching content, all interested community members can participate. There are online classes every Wednesday night. There are currently about 250 community members. The results have been amazing in the past few weeks. More than 80 students are online in the midnight class. At the same time, Huang Xin is also the promoter of NFT for exhibition tickets at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in March this year.

On the right of AkaSwap is Emerging Media @c2x3, a new brand designed by Taiwanese interactive design company Ersan. Translated articles on the generative art context or the latest developments in the NFT world are added weekly. C2X3 also operates corporate or event-based NFT projects, such as Gaia culture exhibitions and Pingtung tourism circle activities. The latter is also the reason why you see the Ethereum project "GODPOD" in Tezos, which is a cooperative action between Ersan Design and Muzishen. Recently, C2X3 helped artists Pineapple Sandwich, Aran and Xiaocha to release the latest composable generative art project BlockTrain, which was released on the generative art fxhash platform, and the results were good.

The above are all groups that operate in the form of organizations, but there is another stronger force in the Tezos Taiwan ecosystem. It is a creator/fan community that is difficult to classify. There may be dozens of communities here, and I can't explore them all. . The earliest classic case was the secret base community headed by@张明耀, whose original purpose was to create some kind of occupation behavior. Later, the branches spread, and different types of creators set up their own groups, including Telegram and Discord. At the same time, creators have also spawned study groups, such as fxhash/p5.js study groups, among which there are many university professors and amateur learners studying together, which was hard to see in the past!

In the thriving creator ecosystem, AkaSwap has launched the artist club function. Its smart contract binds the interests of creators and collectors, allowing small communities scattered on different community platforms to have closer interaction on the chain. . Many creators have launched their own club passes, such as Chi.L, Mido, Artic Poor, etc. Since the operation of the secret base, Mingyao has recently completed the Zhang Mingyao Biennale, which destroys the perception of time.

Finally, in the upper middle row are Atismic Art, a gallery service with Tezos as the distribution platform, run by Alice Chien and have completed the first online and offline mixed exhibition. Protoworld is a virtual display platform developed by the new organization of the art group NAXS corp. Nisso Future, and currently "only" supports Tezos, and its overseas popularity is higher than that in China. In order to demonstrate the virtual reality service of NFT, MomentX also supports Tezos NFT. A while ago, it assisted Taiwan Arts University in releasing tuna public NFT.

The left row is Tezos services commonly used by members of the Taiwanese community, such as wallet services Temple Wallet and Kukai; there are also three axes of transaction volume in the Tezos world, emphasizing open source co-governance TEIA (formerly Hic Et nunc), integration with smooth experience The platform OBJKT and the open generative art platform fxhash. These three platforms are the main places for Taiwanese community members to profit/loss. And more and more skilled creators directly choose to list on overseas platforms.

QuipuSwap is Tezos' Decentralized Exchange (DEFI). Since akaDAO, USDT and other tokens have trading pairs on it, it has become an exchange frequently visited by the Taiwanese community. The DEFI scale in the Tezos world is much smaller than that of other public chains, and the DEFI boom has passed. There are currently three or four Tezos DEFI services, but they are not often discussed.

Since there are decentralized exchanges, the Tezos ecosystem also has centralized exchanges. MaiCoin, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Taiwan, has supported Tezos trading in May this year. Taiwanese users no longer have to convert Taiwan dollars to a third currency, and then go to overseas exchanges such as Binance. They are really happy.

Finally, on the technical development side, there are very few Tezos engineers in Taiwan, because the language used for Tezos smart contracts or underlying development was not close to the people in the early days, and Taiwan is not the main labor market for Tezos. However, there are still many engineers in Taiwan who are familiar with Tezos. They work in Marigold to assist in formal verification and program library maintenance. There are also smart contract engineers, mainly akaSwap. In addition to their regular jobs, these engineers are also active participants in the community. I myself often benefit from the characteristics of the community.
