No matter if you go to bed at 10am the night before, or you swipe your phone and go to bed at 1am, you will wake up at 7am the next morning. Sometimes I just get up and wash my face at eight o'clock in the morning and wait for breakfast.

Most of the time, I just get up and wash my face to go for a run. This is my fixed itinerary for more than two years. For the sake of health and to maintain my figure, being overweight is not good for my health.

At seven o'clock this morning, when I was washing my face and getting ready to go for a run, my mother was already busy in the kitchen preparing brunch for the family. I saw my mother was cooking a pot of porridge.

"Do you want to eat porridge today?" I was somewhat reluctant to eat porridge. I rarely eat porridge as an adult, except when I need to nourish my stomach, and eating porridge for breakfast is high in calories, which is a challenge for weight loss.

"This is what your dad made." Mom said while putting the washed fungus vegetables into the pot and cooking them together with porridge. Presumably this is Dad's request. Dad likes this method of mixing and cooking them all.

Dad has grown many pots of fungus vegetables, and my mother said that because the leaves are like fungus, they are commonly called fungus vegetables. Dad picks some from time to time to fry or boil them, but I have never eaten them.

Eat less porridge as an adult, don't you know there are 5 times a year? But children often eat it. At that time, my father-in-law was still alive, and the basic equipment for his breakfast was white porridge and a poached egg. In order to save trouble, the mother also let the children eat white porridge and poached eggs together with the father-in-law.

When I was a child, it was difficult to eat quietly. When I had breakfast, I liked to imitate Grandpa's actions. He took a mouthful of porridge, and I followed it, so that I had the motivation to finish the white porridge. Every time I was eating, I was knocked on the hand by the iron spoon of my grandfather. Of course, my grandfather tapped lightly to warn me, but the relaxed atmosphere made me finish the white porridge happily.

My mother used an open flame to cook porridge until now, instead of an electric pot. She said that it is difficult to cook delicious porridge with an electric pot.

When I eat porridge, I only eat thick porridge. I don't like too much water. I use small bowls. I can hold the bowl in one hand and eat it with chopsticks in the other. Before eating porridge, I always felt that the taste was bland and tasteless, and it was difficult to eat, so I liked to drizzle it with dark soy sauce. After stirring, the whole bowl of porridge was dark and salty, and then served with poached eggs.

When I grow up, my taste has changed. I don’t like soy sauce. I can eat white porridge with eggs. Maybe it’s because I’m old, it affects my health, and I don’t dare to eat too salty. In addition to poached eggs, occasionally my mother will make a few side dishes to go with, such as pickled cucumbers and gluten.

Another side dish is pickles. I think white porridge with pickles is the most suitable. A tasteless food paired with something full of saltiness is just fine.

I remember a few years ago, when I was at the age of a mature man, I still suffered from chickenpox. At that time, no matter breakfast, lunch or dinner, most of my mothers would cook porridge for me, and the side dishes were either green vegetables or pickles. Of course, when you are sick, your mouth will be lighter, so I think white porridge with pickles is so delicious, it is simply delicious. After recovering, because I missed it, I asked my mother to cook porridge and serve me with pickles, but I can no longer taste the original taste. Is it delicious to eat salty things when I am sick?

When I got home from the run, my father was already enjoying his mushroom and vegetable porridge. I walked forward and saw that the porridge was mixed with boiled green leaves. I took a few steps back and left quietly. That pot of porridge should only be eaten by my father.
