What's more relaxing than overhearing pigeons whispering from the towers of your own water town?
I haven't figured out what to name this town yet.
The town under the night is gentle
Don't know what the pigeons talk about, but it's definitely not work

If you liked Calvino's Invisible Cities, then there's no reason why you shouldn't like Townscaper, the first thought that crossed my mind when I stumbled across the gameplay footage today.

It is really like the water/waterside cities described in the book, such as the water city Esmeralda.

Trade City No. 5

The water city Esmeralda is interwoven by a network of canals and a network of roads. To get from one point to any point, you can choose the land or the water: in Esmeralda, the shortest point between two points is not a straight line but a curve with many random branches, so it is suitable for pedestrians There are more than two routes to choose from, and if you prefer to alternate between land and water, you have more options.

This way, the inhabitants of Esmeralda don't have to worry about walking the same way every day. Not only that: the distribution of the route is not limited to the same level, up or down along the way, there are flat ground with standing feet, there are bow-shaped bridges, and there are overhead roads. The routes of each section and level are alternately changed, so that each resident can enjoy different views when heading to the same destination. In Esmeralda, even the most peaceful life is not rigid.

But a life of secrecy and adventure, here and there, is more strictly limited. Esmeralda's cat, thief, and illegitimate lover, took the high and staggered way, sometimes jumping from the roof off the terrace, sometimes with acrobatic footwork to the eaves sink. In the dark sewers below, hordes of rats mingled with conspirators and smugglers: they peeped out of burrows and drains, they slipped through tunnels and ditches, carrying cheese slices, contraband, Barrels of gunpowder scurried from nest to nest, using underground passages across the city.

Esmeralda's map should have these routes marked in different colors - solid or liquid, light or dark. What is more difficult to mark on the map is the route of the swallows, who cut through the air on the roof, trace an invisible parabola with their motionless wings, rush forward to devour a mosquito, circle up, and skim the top of the spire, Every point of the air route dominates the whole city.

a thousand reader with a thousand hamurate. Every reader must have a different vision of Calvino's fantastic cities. To me, Townscaper's fairy-tale warm, bright, and hidden with a lot of quirky little thoughts fits my own fantasies perfectly, if not better.

In this sense, it is also a dream machine.

It took a little time to build my first town. Said to be a game, it is actually more like a fantasy-style artifact of venting/healing/fishing (mistakenly), because this game does not have any goals, all you need to do is to release your imagination, let it grow freely, bring Take all the stress away.

After all, what's more relaxing than overhearing pigeons whispering from the towers of your own water town?

The game is available on Steam, iOS and Android, and now has the easiest browser-friendly version: http://oskarstalberg.com/Townscaper/

My God, it just happens to be a water town, what reason is there not to fish well (big mistake)?
