Brian Head, Utah, USA
This Christmas holiday, we are planning to go skiing in the south of Utah,
Originally wanted to roadtrip directly to Colorado, but found it would be too long to drive from California, so I gave up the idea.
We live in a small town near Brian Head, Cedar City. It takes about six hours to drive there from Los Angeles,
On Saturday, I went out slowly and leisurely, drove for four hours, went to Las Vegas first, took a look at this drunken place, had a dinner and rested,
After another two hours of driving, snow began to fall on the way. Although it was dark, it felt so good! Recalling the cold winter at UIUC two years ago, I had to be careful about slipping on the road (some places would freeze, and if I didn't pay attention, it would be easy to slip and hit my butt)
At 11 or 12 o'clock in the middle of the night, I finally arrived at the hotel, took a shower and went to bed, and welcomed a beautiful skiing day.
Before going to the ski resort the next day, I went to a ski shop (Cedar Sports) in the center of Cedar City. Although it is small, the ski equipment is very complete!
I was thinking about buying a pair of snow pants, and I finally started today. After I bought them, I quickly put them on and went skiing.
PS. In Southern California, they all go to REI (chain sporting goods store), and some branches have very little inventory. However, I recommend Tustin's REI. The inventory is very complete. The disadvantage is that the service staff is super busy, and you have to wait in line to get the clerk to ask you questions.
There are two hills in this snowfield. At first, I ran to Brian Head Peak. The wind and snow began to gradually strengthen along the way. I thought it was a little bad. As a result, the staff said that there are no chairs (cable cars) here today. Open, so I ran back to Navajo Peak, there are many children in class, and I think the greenway is also very friendly.
Sometimes I worry that the greenway is not green because I went skiing in West Virginia before and fell a big one, which caused a huge shadow area. Now I have finally eliminated the psychological barrier.
For half a day, basically I was adapting to the snow and overcoming psychological obstacles, and I also stepped up to practice Hillside.
After skiing, I went back to Cedar City and found a Chinese restaurant to satisfy my stomach. The foreigner version of the Chinese restaurant, the best dish is Cashew Chicken.
The third day was a rest day. I wanted to go to Cedar Breaks National Monument for a walk, but it was really because there was too much snow, so the road was closed and not open.
We checked again what ski shops there are (two slaves under capitalism) , and found another Georg's Ski Shop, just next to Brain Head Resort. There are many styles here, and there are also very cheap out-of-season items. However, I didn't think it looked very good when I wore it around, so I gave up, and I didn't see any snowboards suitable for beginners, so I returned empty-handed and went back to Cedar Sport at the foot of the mountain to continue shopping. Today's goal is to take a piece of snow. I asked the clerk and asked him to recommend me a beginner's board. Later, I bought Head's snowboard and a cheap salomon binding.
The super-mentally retarded thing happened again. I told the clerk that I wanted S, but when I went home and opened the box, I found out, what is M! Then I drove out and ran back to the store to change the size... XD
In the United States, when you buy clothes and shoes, you will get the wrong size, when you buy food, you will get the meal that you didn’t order, and when you buy drinks, you will get bubble tea...etc. It’s so funny that I’m used to it.
Anyways, the equipment is about 60% complete, measure the angle, put the retainer on it, and finally have my own board (cool)
On the fourth day, I went out a little earlier. Today's snow conditions are not bad, the snow is really powder, and many chairs are open, but my level is only suitable for the beginner village.
On this day, the board is full of good adaptation, soft enough, and better to bounce. When I was skating the day before yesterday, I was stuck in the snow and couldn't get out.
At noon, we went to the restaurant to eat hot dogs. The whole restaurant was full of people. Many people were sitting on the floor. We had to take our lunch and quickly return to the car to eat.
If I don't hurry up, my hot dog will turn into an ice dog. After eating, I went back to the car to sleep, then continued to skate, and practiced Toeside a little today. After a few ski trips, the snow field is about to get off work
Although I was very tired, I was still a little unfulfilled . I bought a snow ticket for the California ski resort in the evening and went back to California to continue skiing~
In general, I think the size of this snowfield is just right, the queue time is full and smooth, and the length of the snow trail is OK, I won't say that it will be the end of the slide.
After having your own ski equipment, it really saves the time and money of renting equipment, and it feels 100 points!
In fact, I think that as long as you know what size snowshoe and how long you need to borrow, you will save a lot of time.
I hope I can train Toeside well and go to Landao in 2022~
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
