Talking about dreams in Hong Kong
Recently, I saw an article on Fackbook about a photojournalist who gave up his job as a photographer because of his livelihood and went to work in a local area. Because there were only 10,000 yuan for the photographer and more than 30,000 yuan for the construction worker, he finally decided to give up himself first. If you want to do it, make more money first. Many third-year college students approached me to talk about their future, and it seemed that everyone was a little hesitant about the future. Some photography students are now planning to take a government job after graduation, because he knows that photographers are unlikely to have a stable life. Some classmates also said that he hopes to engage in creation in the future, but the first condition is to ensure a stable income and not take risks.
Talking about dreams in Hong Kong seems a bit unrealistic.
After all, the cost of living in this city is simply too high (and getting higher). Compensation has remained unchanged for over a decade and inflation has been staggering. Ten years ago, the monthly salary of a college graduate was about 10,000 yuan. Ten years later, the monthly salary has not changed much, but all the prices around him have risen by multiples. The daily news either revolves around how the housing market is topping out or how scary rents are. A unit of 300 to 400 feet can easily cost five or six million, and the rent is not proportional to the income. There is an advertisement saying that a seven-year-old child's dream is to buy a house!! Everything is scarier than a horror movie!
Yes, when the "dream" of a person in a place is just to buy a 300-400-square-foot unit (some foreign friends describe these units as a Shoes Box, in fact, the price is worse than a shoe box), and stick to this. Faith, willing to put all of his most precious youth in a "deception", this is really terrifying.
Is there anyone brave enough to say no to this "scam"?
The value of people Why in just 20 years, Hong Kong has changed from a city full of dynamic opportunities to a place without dreams? (Unless you agree that buying a house is a dream) Where is the value of people? In a big city, Is one's life really just for two meals and a place to live? Except for material life? Do people really have no spiritual pursuit? How many people think about a person's spiritual value?
Once upon a time, people would still talk about their dreams and look forward to the future. But today, when I see that even the young people around me dare not talk about their dreams. I really want to ask, what's going on in this city? We've been taught to accept fate since then? It's a pity that too many people accept fate before they even try.
When there are still many foreigners in Hong Kong coming to pursue their dreams (and there are many successful examples), the people here have already locked themselves up, denying all possibilities and obediently becoming slaves. This is really A bit of a lie. When a game is played unjustly and we are forced to play it, can we try to change the rules of the game to turn things around instead of silently compromising?
Dreams need to be practiced to be valuable
In Hong Kong, we have encountered many difficulties and challenges in recent years, but compared with many other places, we still have a considerable degree of freedom for us to pursue our dreams. At least, this is not a place where wars are repeated or birds do not lay eggs. The question is whether you have the perseverance to go out a path you want to go. Dream needs to be practiced to have value, otherwise it is just fantasy. To be able to dream come true, you must have the ability to make your dreams come true. Takashi Murakami also mentioned in his "Art Battle Theory" that 10,000 hours should be set as the absolute K point that must be trained to achieve the goal. That is, you have to work on it first.
I think, if you still rarely have a dream in your heart, you should try to force yourself to reach the K point first and then calculate it!
postscript
The above is an old article in 2016 (the original article was published in MILK)
(1) Up to now, although the property market has declined slightly under 2019 and Covid-19. However, there were still "Nano Buildings" near my home that were only 200 square feet but sold for over 6 million Hong Kong dollars. The land issue and housing supply in Hong Kong have always been a myth. Most of Hong Kong's villains are a brainwashed discussion to help real estate hegemony. Substantive land and housing research, you can refer to the article of the local research society ( https://liber-research.com/landresources-stocktake/ )
(2) The social movement and Covid-19 in the past two years have changed the daily routine of the past. Hong Kong, which was previously forced to go by freedom, could have had the opportunity to take this opportunity to recuperate, but under the general environment, the situation is still dark and unclear.
(3) "But compared to many other places, we still have a considerable degree of freedom for us to pursue our dreams." In 2016, we can still shout about freedom and believe in freedom. But in any case, the last point is still true. "I think if you still have a rare dream in your heart, you should try to force yourself to reach the K point first and then calculate it!" The world is actually very big, you don't need to tie yourself up, more often , our thought patterns are our shackles.
