Purely unpleasant

On the first night of September, when the community meeting had just been held, I saw a friend sharing the above information in the "Medium Hong Kong Wenyou Group" on Discord, saying that the "Super Like" function of LikeCoin will start immediately. , the reward amount will be changed from 12 LIKE to 4 LIKE.

To be honest, the younger brother felt a little disapproval of this sudden move at the time. I understand that the price of LikeCoin now has a certain increase compared to when the "Super Like" function was officially launched a year ago. The value of 12 LIKE today is not the same as today's 12 LIKE. It is understandable to have the intention to adjust. ; But if the Civil Republic advocates community governance and direct democracy, is it possible for the foundation to put forward relevant proposals for this type of change, explaining the reasons for the need to make adjustments (for example, why “better use of resources”) , and leave it to the community to vote?

After learning this information, I browsed the Discord channel of LikeCoin and the Matters page of Appreciation Citizen's Republic, but did not see the relevant adjustment information, so I raised relevant questions on the Discord channel of LikeCoin and liker.social successively. I was shocked that the community didn't have any attention or discussion about this change.

Perhaps, the foundation's conclusion that the function "has not seen success" and the user's lack of attention to the changes are mutually influential.

The original meaning of the "Super Like" function was described by the Foundation when it was first launched, and it has also written two notes on its use, and even opened two accounts for appreciation citizens (one classic and one 2.0), in order to increase the number of users who can use it. of Super Like places.

In an ideal state, on the Liker Land app, you should be able to see admiring citizens from all over the world, giving extra appreciation to excellent articles on various writing platforms, so that community users can read more than the website they are accustomed to browsing. Lots of relics from the sea.

However, after more than a year of operation, I have to deny the effect of Super Like, which is indeed not as expected. In some discussions of Matters in the past, I have seen many users say that they do not understand the concept behind this thing, and there are also many users who are used to clicking likes at will.

Moreover, nine out of ten articles that can appear on the Liker Land app (representing a user's Super Like) are from Matters, and they are all articles that are easy to see in the popular section of Matters, and I I believe that the situation of etiquette and even the Super Like around the furnace definitely exists, because it is not the next time I see consecutive users also Super Like the same article, which is a kind of "version washing" presentation; Articles, even lesser-known creators on Matters, are harder to find on Liker Land.

When some users who are eager to find excellent articles to read cannot find the articles they want to read; and the enthusiastic users can’t see the difference between what the Liker Land app presents and the popular platforms they often hang around on, they naturally Will reduce reading time in Liker Land. The users of the community feel that "Super Like" is helpless to let the articles they like or deserve attention reach more members in the community, reducing the desire to do Super Like, and over time, a vicious circle is formed, forgetting or even ignoring this function. Now there are times when I only see Liker Land once a day.

It must be reiterated that no one can challenge the definition of "good writing" and the preferences and tastes of readers; but appreciate the Citizen Republic as a (thriving) community in which the actions of every individual will How outsiders understand and evaluate this community plays a role. A person who has not yet entered, or who intends to enter the Appreciative Citizens Republic, wants to peek into the makeup of this community. Although there are many ways, I would think that the reader part of the Liker Land app is one of them. The Foundation has emphasized the importance of supporting citizen media, independent recorders, etc. in several publicity articles, but when this person observes on Liker Land, members of the community are more inclined to mumble about life, and even within the community Appreciating the "dispute" that seems important but is not worth mentioning in the outside world, in addition to feeling a kind of gap, it will also unexpectedly have some of its own (unwilling to accept) characterizations of this republic.

This is like what a literary friend shared before. When I introduced Matters to some people in the circle, the other party's first reaction was "coin platform". How the literary friend made an excuse could not reverse the other party's perception.

Of course, history has no ifs. Even at the beginning of Day 1, everyone uses Super Like very cautiously, allowing many types of articles to be presented, but it does not mean that more people can be attracted to become members of the Appreciative Citizen Republic or increase the time to read through Liker Land; but the appreciation The image and reputation of the Citizen's Republic to the outside world really depends on the accumulation of each user bit by bit.
