transparent dice
During World War II in 1940, after the Nazi German army dismantled the French defenses and surrounded the British and French allied forces, the British army was forced to withdraw to Dunkirk (a port in northern France near Belgium) in order to escape being surrounded by the German army. Due to the large consumption of tanks by the Nazi German army in the previous battle, and the surrounding swamps of Dunkirk, it was not suitable for armored forces to operate. In order to retain the strength of the tanks and cope with the next round of combat, Hitler ordered the ground forces to stop the pursuit and arranged for the commander-in-chief of the Luftwaffe Air Force. Launch air strikes with fighter jets.
Hitler was winning at that time, and while he was attacking, he supplied the war line with food and grass, and waited for the British side to propose a peace agreement.
At this pause, Churchill urgently took over as the new British Prime Minister on the British side and presided over the war cabinet. In the face of the threat of Nazi Germany, nearly 400,000 British troops were trapped in Dunkirk. The Germans have bombed many piers in Dunkirk, and the beach was too shallow for warships to dock. The British had to seek help from the citizens of Dunkirk. Local shipowners and fishermen drove ships to pick up British soldiers, as large as freighters. If all the speedboats were dispatched, 900 ships were called up. At the call of Prime Minister Churchill, the British people dispatched ships of all sizes, ranging from Duke cruise ships to fishing boats, and even steamboats in the British Museum.
This all-out retreat is known as "Operation Dynamo"
It wasn't until the last day of the Anglo-French retreat that Hitler realized something was wrong. A fierce air battle broke out between the British and German troops. The Germans wanted to conquer with the army. Unfortunately, it rained heavily that day in Dunkirk, and the tanks were completely useless. They could only watch as hundreds of thousands of troops were escorted out of the continent by civilian boats.
Although it was a withdrawal of troops, it was really a process of retreating to advance, uniting the British army and the people to fight the Nazi spirit together. In about 9 days, nearly 340,000 people were successfully evacuated back to the UK, far exceeding the original estimate. 45,000 people. Boosted the morale of the whole of the UK, withdrew beautifully.
Hard wars are always made up of blood and tears, sorrow and anger. When the last rescue ship left Dunkirk from the coast on June 4, 1940, at least 40,000 British soldiers were still left behind. Together with about 40,000 French soldiers, they were captured by the Germans near Dunkirk, and some of them were executed on the spot. The surviving soldiers were actually more terrifying than dying directly. They were abused until the end of the war. It is a pity that this historical fact has been neglected for many years.
According to Sean Longden's book "Dunkirk: The Men They Left Behind", the prisoners of war lacked food and medicine. In order to reduce morale, the Germans deprived captured British officers of their ranks and sent them to work in salt mines, where they were only allowed to drink ditch water and Eat rotten food. Longden puts it bluntly in the book: "They fought to the end and ensured the successful evacuation of more than 300,000 of their comrades. Their sacrifices brought salvation to England. But while those who escaped home were hailed as heroes, they were forgotten by the world. ”
In fact, the Nazi German army had already carried out atrocities long before Britain and France began to withdraw from Dunkirk. On May 28, about 100 soldiers from the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Norfolk Regiment had just surrendered to the German army when they were taken to a farm in Le Paradis by the SS Skeleton Corps, where they were machine-gunned to death in the pit. On the same day, the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment was also captured near Wormhout, taken to a granary, and massacred with grenades by the Germans.
As the fighting continued, such escorts became more frequent, and sometimes the prisoners had little or nothing to eat. When the train arrived at the station, the prisoners of war were escorted into bullock carts and sent to construction sites in Germany and Poland. Charlie Waite, a 20-year-old British soldier, was escorted to a farm in Poland to work under the surveillance of Nazi guards, and then in the harsh winter of 1944-45, he was escorted to the suburbs of Berlin, nearly a thousand miles away, and almost died on the road. , he was not rescued by the Allies until April.
Charlie Waite, who was rescued by the Allies, later published Survivor of the Long March: 5 years as a POW, describing the experience of being escorted to Poland and Berlin. The coat was fine, but one of the more challenges we faced in 1945 was the record-breaking cold in January. Combined with the constant misery, fear, exhaustion, and hunger, and witnessing the death of a fellow man, in Bury them by the wayside. You will never forget these things."
Back to the beautiful retreat in Dunkirk. As a result, the Royal Air Force defeated the Luftwaffe, causing Germany to abandon the invasion plan. Over the next five years, Britain was able to expand its military, add fighter jets to the Royal Air Force, repair and replace warships lost at Dunkirk, and once again rebuild the world's strongest British navy.
None of this would have been possible, however, without the retreat at Dunkirk, and the British could not have survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in late 1941, triggering the United States to join the fray. So when the Allies landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944, the victory was a joy to all involved, but for the British, even those who respected and studied history, the thought of those who were left in Dunkirk The British soldiers are full of tragic and solemn hearts, crying and grabbing the pain.
I remember Mr. Ma Xin once wrote an article "So fear is like this? The escapees of the Dunkirk operation"
"War is like a transparent dice thrown from the hands of God," she said. "Anywhere you see the endless open space, there is no way to escape."
I didn’t understand why the dice were transparent before, but from World War II to 2019, and even today, 2022, almost 80 years, looking at Hong Kong and Ukraine, I saw the shadow of Dunkirk, and I saw more than 40,000 soldiers being abused . Everything is transmitted through a transparent Wujihan, you look from that side, you will stand on that side. If you care for the 40,000 leftover soldiers, you will feel resentment at the brutality of the Nazi German army, which is a binary opposition. From the mirror input of the German army, we can see that they take the orders of the soldiers, take the Nazi ideology as their task to rule the world, rationalize all karmic debts with patriotism, and patriotism is hostile to the world republic.
From the transparent dice, people will gradually discover their own potential thoughts, whether you are the former British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain who advocated peace and surrendered, or Churchill's will to die rather than surrender, "In the face of war and humiliation, you chose Humiliation! However, after the humiliation, you still have to face the war!"
Will you be a sympathetic, secretly helpful Dunkirk citizen, or a spying and reporting neighbor who is fleeing. You'll find yourself becoming an observer again, I see, I think, I'm silent. It is a kind of self-preservation, hidden in the killing places, in the jungle where the corpses are everywhere.
It's just a difference of 80 years, the wheel of history keeps turning, and everything will come back, including nibbling, plundering, war, commanding, binary opposition, brutal killing, blood flow, and karmic debts. It is a common karma that never ends.
If the human world is a transparent dice, and time is like the sand of the Ganges River, one sand has a realm, and within one realm, the stars in the universe see human beings repeating karmic obstacles, and then look at the farther away, and see the endless empty space. This world turned out to be terrifyingly empty, with endless past and present lives, cause and effect, endless karma. Under the game of life and survival, people are pitifully insignificant, helpless and hopeless, because there is no way to escape.
"All sentient beings who have not been liberated, have an indeterminate nature and consciousness, evil habits end karma, and good habits bear fruit. They are born for good and evil, and they are born in every circumstance. They revolve in the five realms, without rest for a while. , it will be a long stream, you will escape in and out temporarily, and you will be caught in the net again. I should worry about it. Since you have completed your vows and vowed again and again, you will widen your sins, so what should I worry about!" Ksitigarbha Sutra
(Supplementary information: There is another saying that Hitler deliberately let go of the British army. The British originate from the Germanic Anglo Saxons, and have the same roots as the Germans, so Hitler does not hate the British so much (on the contrary, he is very I despise the Slavs), maybe he still has a little liking for them. He has fantasies and deliberately does not kill them all, hoping to force Churchill (UK) to make peace with him. Unexpectedly, his wishful thinking did not work in the end, the British Air Force He successfully defended his homeland, and later became a confidant of the German army.)
(Recently, some people likened Ukrainian President Zelensky to the Churchill of this generation)
