【Use the Feynman Method to Solve the Problems You Have Been Stuck on】
When I recently read the card box notes book, the content mentioned the "Feynman method of learning". This approach to learning emphasizes that we are more likely to understand what we are learning if we say it and write it down.
I don’t know if you have this experience: when a problem has been bothering you for a long time and you can’t think of it, you decide to use a message or ask someone to ask the question in person.
As a result, just before the message was sent, or when I just explained my question to others, I suddenly thought of the answer! Then he patted his head and said, "Oh, why didn't you think of it in the first place?"
[Replace "thinking" questions with writing and elaborating questions]
In fact, this is a normal phenomenon in the brain. When we think, we accumulate many thoughts, and these thoughts can accumulate and become entwined with each other. At this time, it may take several turns to get the answer by "thinking".
When sending a message to ask a question, or when asking someone for advice, this process is helping us reorganize our minds and simplify all complex ideas (because to make the other person understand, it must be replaced by the language that the other person can understand).
In the process of simplification, the obstacles on the way to the answer are often removed, and the answer can be naturally thought of.
This is why the Feynman method of learning emphasizes the process of accelerating "deep understanding" through "teaching" and "sharing".
To be able to tell advanced knowledge to others in simple and easy-to-understand words can be regarded as a thorough learning. It is only when you can fluently retell what you have learned to yourself that you have learned it completely.
[If you encounter problems, remember to "write it down" or "speak it out"]
So there are two best ways to avoid the stuck problem
1. Prepare your card box notes, and try to write them down in simplified text when you encounter a stuck problem (the principle is that even if you forget it after a month, you can still read the text when you come back and check)
2. Discuss, ask questions, and force yourself to quickly organize your thoughts.
For example, when I was too often stuck in my research, I came up with the answer as soon as I was about to send a message to ask others. Writing it down is really a great way to deepen my own learning. I recommend that you try it next time you encounter it. Try it out!
