Is the metaverse the paradise of modern people?

"In the Taiyuan period of the Jin Dynasty, the people of Wuling fished for their business. They traveled along the river, forgetting the distance of the road. Suddenly they met a peach blossom forest, hundreds of steps from the bank, there were no miscellaneous trees, the grass was delicious, the fallen flowers were colorful, and the fishermen were very different. . Going forward again, wanting to be poor."

The "Peach Blossom Land" described in "Peach Blossom Land" is Tao Yuanming's imaginary place outside the world, and it seems that it also inadvertently represents the paradise imagined by all human beings.

Freedom, the unknown, and the mystery have always affected the DNA of human exploration. From the ancestors of Homo sapiens who hunted for a living in ancient times, to the discovery of the new continent by Columbus, to the landing of the Apollo on the moon... There are always some human beings who are so active in exploring and longing for a "free continent".

The metaverse seems to be another major exploration of human beings for unknown resources. And where will this ark of exploration lead us? An oasis to save the earth's resources? Or is it a sweet trap laid by robots for humans, as described in The Matrix? Since there is still no clear definition of it, different people see it with different moods.

Some people compare the Metaverse to the Peach Blossom Spring. Indeed, in many features, there are too many similarities between the two.

In the world of the Metaverse, as long as you find the entrance and a ticket, you can become a citizen of the Metaverse. Some people first became aborigines by virtue of their advanced cognition, some people were able to find the way by chance, and most people could only wander outside the forest and could not enter in the end. And just like the "Fisherman" in "Peach Blossom Land", after a visit to the paradise, he is still greedy for the secular world, and wants to pass on a little bit of what he has seen, heard and accidentally touched to others in order to obtain realistic benefit.

This has led the world to rush to Peach Blossom Spring, just because of the exaggerated description of "fisherman", thinking that there is a gold mine. But in fact, there is just another way of life. And the world's thoughts on the metaverse are probably like this, thinking that the metaverse is a cash cow that can bring benefits to itself. Actually? In a McKinsey article, futurist and metaverse expert Cathy Hackl pointed out that the metaverse to her is more of an identity and digital ownership. There is still a long way to go to get to the true metaverse.

Maybe I have too many "fishermen" who have been to the Metaverse, and hundreds of nft projects have come one after another. Just like the peach blossom forest outside the entrance, the more and more lush, the entrance is hidden deeper and deeper.

However, those who understand will know that you can't find the entrance to Peach Blossom Land if you walk the road of others again, and you can't really enter the metaverse by just following the trend of nft.

Even many people believe that the Metaverse will bring a new era to mankind, and regard it as a lifetime belief, but the cruel reality is that there are not only "Nanyang Liu Ziji" among the "noble people" in the world, but also those who believe in the Metaverse. Not just you.

In fact, if the metaverse is compared to the modern peach blossom garden, I am afraid that this word will add a tragic undertone. After all, the phrase "there is no interest in the future" sets the tone of the entire article.

So my positive view is that the end of the metaverse is still unknown. We can believe, but maybe not indulge. The identity of our generation, in the long history, may only be a stepping stone for future generations to enter the metaverse.
