The link between mental health conditions and anger
A variety of mental illnesses have symptoms of irritability at the same time. Irritability does not necessarily represent a mental illness, but sometimes abnormal frequencies of anger and extreme aggression are indeed associated with certain mental conditions.
1️⃣ Paroxysmal tantrums
Intermittent Eruption Disorder (IED) is an impulse control disorder characterized by repeated outbursts of anger that represent an inability to control aggressive impulses. These outbreaks can involve verbal or physical aggression and result in property damage or bodily harm.
2️⃣ Oppositional Defiance
Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) is a disruptive behavior disorder involving patterns of anger and irritability and aggressive or vindictive behavior . People with oppositional defiant disorder may lose their temper impulsively , become resentful , argue with authority figures , refuse to comply with demands , and deliberately annoy and blame others .
3️⃣ Behavioral disorder disorder
Normative behavior disorder (CD) is a disruptive behavior disorder involving patterns of violations of norms, rules, and the fundamental rights of others . People with behavior disorder may bully, threaten, or physically harm others . They may also abuse animals, lie, steal, or destroy property .
4️⃣ Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a disorder characterized by instability and impulsiveness , including outbursts of anger or violence . People with BPD fear abandonment, cling to those around them, long for comfort and approval, and feel deeply disturbed by seemingly small changes. Such upheavals may include angry outbursts, severe mood swings, hopelessness, paranoia, self-harm and suicide .
5️⃣ Depression
Depression is characterized by persistent feelings of low mood, sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness , decreased enjoyment and pleasure, and increased or decreased sleep and appetite, among other symptoms.
