 *Note:
Guangzhou Huaisheng Mosque, also known as Guangta Temple, is located on Guangta Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City, China. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and is the oldest existing mosque in China and one of the earliest mosques in the world.

From about AD 618 to 626, the Islamic prophet Muhammad sent his disciples to China to preach, and landed in Guangzhou via the Maritime Silk Road in the early years of Tang Zhenguan. Afterwards, the disciples sages and Arab Muslims living abroad jointly donated money to build the mosque. In order to commemorate the "Muslim", the mosque was named "Huaisheng".

Huaisheng Temple is located in an area formerly known as "Fanfang" in Guangzhou. The so-called "Fanfang" refers to the area in the city for foreigners who came to China to do business in the Tang and Song Dynasties. Most of the residents of Fanfang are Arabs and Persians, who retain their own language, customs, eating habits, religious beliefs, etc. There are mosques and halal markets in Fanfang. Some historians believe that although the Islamic belief in Fanfang belongs to the religion of foreign nations, it is the earliest form of Muslim organization in Chinese Islamic history.

The Light Pagoda is located in the southwest of the gate of Huaisheng Mosque. Its official name is "Huaisheng Pagoda". When Muslims chant sutras, they often call "Bangka" or "Bunker" (meaning "calling") in Arabic at the top of the tower. , so Huai San Tower is also known as "Bangka House". At night in the Tang Dynasty, lights would be hung on the top of the tower to guide ships passing by, so it was called "Light Tower" or "Fan Tower".
