[Music Story] Talking about Ge Dawei: Those familiar songs are buried with an old soul who can tell stories

When you hear a song for the first time, what do you notice first? Melody, beats, lyrics, or just waiting for the MV to premiere so that the music, lyrics, and images can be enjoyed at the same time?

When I was a child, when I was most impressed with music, my father drove us on a trip. The car was inevitably boring, so my mother played the role of announcer and took out the cassettes of their favorite singers and put them in the car. Play in the folder. At that time, I could simply sing a good song, but I was a little shy and sang it while facing the car window, and those good songs would always proudly not miss a word during the chorus. Sing out how proud that is.

The catchy chorus, in addition to the melody repeatedly appearing to enhance memory, is engraved in my heart or interesting lyrics, but when I noticed the charm of the lyrics, I already knew how to take the bus to the MRT by myself, and put it on. Headphones cut off the age of the world. The feeling for the lyrics is a skill that I gradually mastered after I was enlightened to literature, and it is only after listening to countless songs to get to know such a person.

Only by looking at it from a certain height and distance can you know how dazzling and moving the sun surrounded by the sea of clouds is . This is the foreword that the author must give to the lyricist Ge Dawei, who I want to share next.

I started getting to know the lyricist from the song "Long Name and Surname" by Zhang Huimei, but I must digress first. The author especially loves Zhang Huimei's songs, whether it's the classic "Listen to the Sea", "I Want to Be Happy" 〉To the album's song of the same name, 'The Story Stealer', I like her high-pitched interpretation, as if in a dark cave, suddenly a yellow warbler chirped in the sky, making people look up. The author's favorite part of this song "With First Name and Last Name" is: "Why are you like a specimen pestle in my heart and those who did nothing wrong? They said that they were selfish. I made a mistake of stealing time. Copy and paste yours. Love uses "specimen" to visualize "missing the other person's feelings", and uses the word "specimen" as an emotional template to keep falling in love with the shadow of the original person, telling that share that shouldn't exist but can't be given up The emotion is quite heartbreaking. Through ordinary objects, insinuating indescribable feelings is a way of showing the lyricist's high literary qualities.

Later, the author even saw that several songs by Xu Jiaying were also written by Ge Dawei, such as: "Do You Dare", "Fear of Heights", etc. I especially like the song "Do You Dare", which is different from Zhang Huimei's handling The high range seemed to burst out suddenly, and Xu Jiaying took a stride. Although it climbed quickly, she could feel the enjoyment of sliding from low to high. And this sentence "Do you dare to ignore my unstoppable tears, do you dare to say that the unhappiness of this relationship is all my fault, do you dare to love the wrong person but don't want to face it" is the C that appeared in this song Duan, also at the end, ruthlessly abandons "do you dare", admits the mistakes of this relationship, so that each other can end this relationship well, and through the dynamic description of tears, the most painful part of the heart Dig it out to show its determination. It has to be said that the use of words to bring in the sense of picture and the emotions that follow is a very superb way of expression.

In the end, the author really likes this lyricist. This year (2021) made Tian Fuzhen win the queen of the song - "Nobody Knows". For a detailed introduction to this song, the author has also completed a music review (website) for reference. When analyzing this song at that time, I kept trying to figure out what kind of deep feeling Ge Dawei wanted to give the audience, so I put down the title "As a moth that strives to fight the fire, I feel ashamed even when the pain is deep in my heart", maybe only If it's on the edge, the mood can only be said to be on a higher level.

After reading these three examples (of course not only these three works), I don't know if I have found that Ge Dawei's description of the verse is sometimes more charming than the chorus. Of course, it does not mean that the chorus is not charming and meaningful. Maybe this is why Ge Dawei described each song as a novel. The climax (chorus) is naturally profound, but the stamina is often stacked from those trivial plots. The old soul who tells the story, tell us the various states and thousands of emotions in the world by dissecting life!
