[Reading Notes] Develop a slash life that suits you: "Uncertainty is an advantage"

Since childhood, we have been taught by our parents and expected by the society to study hard, get admitted to a good school, work in a big company, and then get married and have children. But why should we be bound by this transforming life, especially for those with multiple potentials.

The so-called " multi-potential person " refers to those who have multiple interests and want to develop in multiple fields at the same time. Who said that everyone can only have one kind of talent? A person can also be good at multiple things, develop multiple potentials, and design multiple lives, not just a single career.

Today I want to share this book by Emily. How To Be Everything? A Guide for Those Who (Still) Don't Know What They Want by Emilie Wapnick to Be When They Grow Up), is to share multiple potentials, set multiple aspirations, and create their own unique life.

Multi-potential people have the ability to combine different ideas, learn quickly, and adapt, and can balance between different majors, between money, meaning, and diversity , one job can earn money, another major can earn Meaning, and switching between different fields, maintaining vitality through diversity, that is, obtaining some elements of happiness from occupation, and satisfying the rest through colorful hobbies and personal plans.

As for how to practice multiple life? The book shares 4 different modes: 1. The collective hug mode. 2. Slash mode. 3. Einstein model. 4. Phoenix mode. The so-called collective embracing model is that in a single occupation, a variety of expertise and skills can be exerted at the same time, most of which are start-up companies or management positions, and multiple skills can be switched in one job. The second slash mode is to take into account multiple occupations at the same time, whether it is part-time, outsourcing, or contracting, so as to achieve a balance between work and life.

[Reading Notes] Try to improve your ability: "Why do you need to be too aggrieved when you go to work, change your career and get promoted again"

The third Einstein model is to have a good enough job or career as the core, and use the accumulated money to start other careers. Just like Einstein, when you have a stable income when you are young, you can Various inventions and researches can be carried out. The last phoenix mode is to manage a field to its peak, and then start from scratch in another field. What you enjoy is the process of hard work, rather than the preservation of the result, just like a phoenix in the ashes.

Everyone will have different ways of developing multiple careers. Even if they go deep into a single professional field, they can develop amateur interests and form another possibility for slashes. Whether it's a simultaneous desire to do many things at once, or a sequential desire to do one thing at a time, it's how multipotential people develop.

[Reading Notes] Find Your Heart: "Intuition"

Find the course of action that suits you best, improve your self-confidence and don’t feel that you can only follow the established trajectory of society. You are just interested in many things, and you are not any different from others. First set goals, then find ways to develop your own diverse life step by step, clarify why life comes, and imagine the ideal life in your mind.

After reading this book, I feel that I am more inclined to the Einstein model, which is to find a good enough job first, and then use the free time to find vitality and devote myself to what I want to do. However, there is still a lack of specific action plans, and how to change and adjust the mood in the face of the increasingly compressed free time of the existing work, people with multiple potentials think in terms of the overall situation, and connect the advantages of multiple resources.
