"Parallel Lines" Prologue

This story began in mid-October 2003, in the class room of the Class 3A class of Immaculate Soul Girls' School in Hong Kong.
This is a long campus love story set against the background of a traditional famous school in Hong Kong from 2003 to 2007. This story is purely fictional and has nothing to do with real people, places, groups, or events. (However, when writing about what happened nearly 20 years ago, archaeology is required from time to time. If you find any mistakes, please let me know)

This story began in mid-October 2003, in the class room of the Class 3A class of Immaculate Soul Girls' School in Hong Kong.

Compared with other noisy junior high school rooms, the students in this room are always a little quieter and busy with their own affairs-many people are preparing lessons, doing homework (of the tutoring club), or reading books. In Jieling Girls’ High School, the first and second grades were not classified according to their grades, but in the third year, the 38 students with the best grades would be placed in the first class one year before the decision to choose the liberal arts and sciences.

No student knows why the rankings are differentiated only in the third grade. All they know is that the students will feel the fierce competition among their peers when they enter the first class of the third grade.

But at the same time, there are some students who are active in extracurricular activities, but can take care of their studies. They have many academic or group positions, and they have to discuss how to arrange extracurricular activities all day long. Among them, the most envious of the students is the one who is responsible for organizing joint school activities. Enhancing knowledge is second, and the most important thing is to overcome the obstacles of the nunnery and get to know the boys from the neighboring school.

The current principal of Jieling Girls' High School is married to the former principal of the adjacent boys' school, Haileybury Boys' College. This in-law relationship has created an indissoluble bond between the two traditionally prestigious schools. Of course, many student couples were also matched.

"Rebecca, are you free after IMC (Intermediate Mixed Choir) practice tonight?"

"What's the matter?" He Huiwen replied as she lowered her head and sorted out the sheet music of SATB.

"Um... Eric wants to invite us to dinner... You come too."

Hui Wen raised her head: "Even Stephen will go too?"

"..." The female classmate looked embarrassed.

"Shirley, if Eric wants to invite you to dinner, you'll be fine. It's no use having a weird four-person dinner." She was indifferent.

"Yeah." Shirley had no choice but to walk away slowly.

Huiwen continued to organize the music scores of Shan Pile. She was silent, probably thinking of something unpleasant, and her movements became bigger and bigger, and she accidentally pushed Fu Shan down and dumped it on the table next to her: "Oh, Xuan Lan, I'm sorry..."

"It doesn't matter." The short-haired girl next door put down the Wesleyan science fiction novel in her hand to help clean up the mess.

After a moment of silence, Hui Wen said, "Xuan Lan..."

"Huh?" Xuan Lan handed her the ordered sheet music.

Huiwen knew that even if she heard the intriguing conversation between her and Shirley, the neighbor who never cared about her business would definitely not ask.

But she just had the urge to share with Xuan Lan: "I broke up with Stephen."

"Oh... that's it." Seeing Hui Wen's blank expression, Xuan Lan didn't know what to say.

It was not the first time that she heard about Huiwen breaking up with her boyfriend.

"Why do boys always like to do that kind of thing?"

"Just..." Xuan Lan smiled helplessly: "Because they are boys."

Regardless of whether this sentence is nonsense or not, it is indeed the reason.

"That's right. I knew it." Hui Wen sighed and turned to look at Xuan Lan: "It's unfortunate to have me next door, isn't it? I'm always worried about rotten peach blossoms."

In front of other female classmates, mentioning this kind of jealousy will definitely be pointed at the back.

But she knew that Xuan Lan would not dislike her.

"Nothing." Sure enough, Xuan Lan smiled at her and continued to help her sort out the sheet music.
