【Podcast】Creation and Contribution

(edited)
Since I was young, I won awards, submitted articles, and published books. Now, more than ten years later, I have gained a lot more spiritually than my contemporaries. Although I don’t earn much in the workplace, I can work in my favorite position (editing) and writing. Being in the company, at least quite completely, has become the writer I once wanted to be...

Podcast - Creation and Contribution

In this episode, instead of talking about perfume, I'm going back to my old business and talking about some of the recent mishaps I've had with my literary creation and submissions. What I didn't expect was that the content that was expected to end in 15 minutes, I actually talked about forty to fifty minutes, so that I encountered difficulties in finding the soundtrack during post-production!

For this background music, I chose Dmitri Shostakovich - Symphony No. 11. My original idea was to use the Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 as the background soundtrack, but I was so verbose that I had to give up my favorite Symphony No. 5. Few people can understand Shostakovich's symphony in the middle and late stages. I used Shostakovich's music this time, which corresponds to his creative life and the helplessness of being a creator under the centralized political background at that time. . I have been feeling similar helpless feelings from time to time recently, especially in Malaysia, as a literary creator who uses Chinese characters as a creative tool, he will actually encounter many obstacles and troubles in this country; moreover, The Malaysian Chinese creative circle is small, and the lack of “cultural and literary capital” all the year round, readers have almost no knowledge of Malaysian Chinese writers, almost causing most Malaysian Chinese writers to be very unconfident when facing their authorship.

Recently, I was reading "The Diary of a Perfumer" by Jean-Claude Elena, the perfumer of Hermès. Whether perfumers, painters, musicians, or even writers, we all aspire to create something that is ahead of its time. This podcast looks casual, but the main theme throughout the episode is still "creating".

Since I was young, I won awards, submitted articles, and published books. Now, more than ten years later, I have gained a lot more spiritually than my contemporaries. Although I don’t earn much in the workplace, I can work in my favorite position (editing) and writing. I've become, at least fairly complete, the writer I once wanted to be.

Only in recent years, the traditional paper media has become unstoppable. Whether it is my work or my creation, I have to face waves of shocks. But fortunately, there are still platforms such as Matt City and Fangge for publication on the Internet, otherwise I, a "super creator", would really be suffocated because of the creation and not being able to publish freely.

I think I am happy to be able to create and publish my own works freely.
